Don’t really know what point your trying to make with this. There is no way over the course of six months that the war is going to be the top news story every single day. That is impossible. It would need vast amounts of people to be killed every day and a fresh new atrocity every day. I’ve seen newspapers from this country from June 1940 when hitlers forces were invading territory less than 500 miles away from us here and the death notices and shipping news and forecasts and the sale in Cleary’s and the Munster hurling championship was in full swing with big headlines about Mick Mackey that’s what dominated the pages of the newspaper. Hitler only had a half a page.
Separatism - the main cause of this war - was stirred up by Yanukovych, a Russian agent. Now the separatists are caught between two armies. Useful idiots.
At Kramatorsk direction Russian army shelled Mykolaivka, Slovyansk, Kramatorsk, Spirne, Verkhniokamyanske, Ivano-Daryivka, Hryhorivka and Zvanivka, attempted offensive near Spirne, - General Staff of Armed Forces of Ukraine says in the morning report
Siversk is safe for now
Sad that we have this kind of carry on where I live in Donegal.
Worse still you have f**ckers like Pringle up here who represent this county who can only come up with drivel about NATO when talking about this incident on the local radio.
Worse thing is there seems to be quite a bit of support for his kind of views up here. But very sad for the Ukrainian refugees who fled Ukraine to come here.
Fair play to the interviewer.
Pringle "NATO has been using Ukraine to batter Russia for many years"
Interviewer "Yeah that's what Putin said yesterday"
😂
It was a demonstration of goodwill.
Sub note at 17.48 counteroffensive Could well be in the picture at the end of the month.
I would have thought that if a counter offensive was in the picture at the end of the month, then the one thing they wouldn't be saying is that if a counter offensive was in the picture at the end of the month.
Also I hope to army top brass are sufficiently confident to resist any pressure to align strategic offensive with notable calendar dates.
If you check back you'll see every single one of my posts aren't along those lines
Bot you know this, sorry but you know this.
Point taken. Would like to see it kept in the news cycle more though. It's vital it doesn't become "yesterdays news". Ukraine needs this to be front and centre as much and as long as possible.
Now we're suckin diesel
Why do you think hes a separatist, loads of Ukrainian's stayed while the Russians took over probably thinking life would continue like normal
Hes most likely a Ukrainian picking up his kid from daycare hoping that life would be normal
What im really wondering is what happens when Russians snatch unwilling people of the street , give them guns and send them to the front line against their will, and tell them to start fighting
Who are the going to start shooting
This has huge potential to end badly for Russians
Himars found a match on tinder
Hard not to well up at the thoughts of this. I mean we know it's going on but knowing the details always makes it worse.
And if not already clear from their performance, fingerprints? Uncultured savages
thread still growing but very interesting
He estimates 100000 invading at start of year not the 200000 “on paper” which makes the 30000 to 40000 dead even more insane
You'd really wonder how accurate the HIMARS are if they can't take this guy out.
I think it's inevitable, nearly six months into the war, that it no longer dominates the news every day, especially when fighting is so concentrated in the east and neither side seems to be making big gains. It takes something spectacular, like the Crimea attacks last week or nuclear plant fears to grab media attention. Heck, look at this thread for proof. Most of the "Slava Ukraine!" lot who were posting here 20 times a day back in spring and attacking anyone who didn't agree with everything they said as "Putin bots" have long since left the thread (which has become much more civilized recently, thankfully), presumably distracted by something else.
More important for Ukraine is that the military, logistical, and financial and humanitarian aid keeps flowing. As long as that's there, they have a chance. If that starts to dry up it's time to get worried.
I'd be interested to know what the Russian news is like right now. Still the same morons on every day screaming about dropping nuclear bombs on Europe or is the conflict also drifting into the background?
Didn't a twitter sleuth track down that guy as some sort of border guard captain who is retired and might've worked the border near Belarus?
Hah! No... But, was he the actual border post?
Heh. Turns out, he was a Russian border guard stationed in Russia, the picture making the rounds is from some parade a few years ago. He now lives in Uzbekistan and, quell surprise, posts recipes to his social media. Name is Ivan Ivanovich Turchin.
The thread is pretty amusing, good sleuth work by the Twitterati More detailed fact check here, in Dutch: https://www.knack.be/factcheck/factcheck-nee-deze-foto-toont-geen-russische-generaal-majoor/
You'd wonder what the Chinese get out of these drills with Russia. I know they talk about friendship and allies and the usual crap, but the Chinese have alternate reasons for everything.
Best shot I've seen in a while:
Not referring to him specifically just making a general statement about separatism.
Well they are going to get very good intel on the state of the Russian army and the local geology of the Vostok region :-)
I wonder what would happen if the Russian federation collapses in the next few years ?
I think people are still taking a strong interest in matters. After all this is hitting us all in the pocket and having a significant impact on our housing and other issues.
But that doesn't imply that there's always something to be said. I read up and listen to any news on the conflict, but no point on commenting unless there is some new aspect.
Russian soldier's account of the war Thread by @ChrisO_wiki on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App
Same thing happened in Syria,,,,special teams in plain clothes walking the streets and markets ( not to mention the many checkpoints) literally picked up people off the streets. It was one ( of the many ) reasons that men of military age fled Syria, and cannot return there. Granted , it would not generate the same level of animosity as Russian's picking up Ukrainians.
Sure. I think the people with a genuine interest are all still here while many of the most hysterical and obsessive posters from spring have thankfully disappeared and the thread is better for it, less name calling and insults going on.
Maybe checking out how the Russians perform in war games,, just in case you know, that they ever had to go to war with Russia...🙂
