A lot of rumours going around today but I heard Lyng has the job. I heard last week he refused it. We should all know more over the next few days
Ratified tomorrow night done deal
Rumour has it fogarty and village87 here are going to be joint managers and paddy deegan is taking over rackards Job
The Fogarty post better be a joke. Nothing but respect for the man but hasn't had any involvement in an intercounty setup for the guts of a decade and I challenge anyone who's been at a coaching course of his in the same time period to say his outlook on hurling has developed over the intervening period.
I heard it was McGarrys gig so essentially the same management set up we just had. Best of luck to them obviously but not exactly inspiring if so.
I wouldn't mind seeing Herity given a go. Doing great stuff with Kildare and by all accounts a serious scholar of the game. Having listened to him on Anthony Daly's podcast a couple of years ago, he seems to have learned a lot on the management/coaching side of things from working with Cody, Fogarty and Dempsey.
I doubt Herity will be involved with his outspoken criticism of Cody from time to time.
I know some clubs that looked for his services, wanted €200 a night. I do not think he would do the Kilkenny gig pro bono. A lot of names are ruled out because of this.
Fogarty and Mick Dempsey are the boys ordained.
Id dont think Gorta and McGarry are staying.
A lot of very uninspiring management rumours being thrown about. A chance of a fresh clean start after 24 years with some new faces and looks like they're going to go back to their usuals. I'd imagine the players wouldn't be overly pleased with the effort shown from the officials on the manager search
Well it could very well be the case as the County Board have rarely, if ever, shown inspiration. I said from the outset that we're likely to get the cheapest option rather than the most suitable one.
I would also have great time for Martin Fogarty but I really hope he doesn't get this job.
I have spoken to Martin several times on this and he's very old school on how the game should be played and has no time for the modern style of playing through the lines and thinks there's far too much emphasis on the importance of a good puck out strategy.
Will it be pro bono ?
Nah theres no way they'll get someone to do it for nothing in 2022.
I doubt the last set up was free either.
No but its well known Brian himself didn't take anything - that's what I meant.
Obviousiy all nutritionists, Comerford, stats etc would have to be paid for.
Surely S&C are well looked after. If Mick Fennelly is coming on board is there a need for Comerford anymore ?
Well you said "pro bono" is ruling out a lot of names which suggests the new manager would not be paid it's nothing to do with if Cody did.
I don't know what you mean
Sorry I was getting posters mixed up.
i could have just read this to catch up on all the recent posts here
I'm not keen on Martin Fogarty. My preference is still to retain the outgoing backroom team, Michael Fennelly would be a great addition but assume he wouldn't want to go in as anything less than manager
Clearly Damian Lawlor reads Boards.ie.
Fennelly the ideal SC man.
Fogarty and Mick Dempsey were in charge for a league final win over Tipp about 10 years ago when Cody had stints put in.
Christ not McGarry. Goalkeeping and puck outs have an achilles.
Neither for or against. Most of the panel are indifferent to Bono and U2.
All the talk is fogarty is going to be the manager and mick fennelly the new coach and the same two selectors remain
Puzzling that Fogarty would get it as he has being out of senior inter county for 9 years.
Would never have expected Gorta or McGarry wanting the job of manager. M Fennelly will probably fill that role eventually. I see M Fogarty as an interim manager and commend him for stepping up, if that's the case.
TJ staying on. Great news for KK and the new manager.
