I clicked into it and it showed him. I do not have s Twitter account
David Clifford apparently has a slight knock and isn't even in the panel for tomorrow:
Great chance for Tony and Spillane today for me Tony hasn't lived up to the high expectations some of us have of him, beautiful day in kilarney for football today I expect kerry to go full tilt and fight for there places and give limerick a right licking.
Kerry need to be scoring goals if they have any ambitions of winning all Ireland's..
They did get one today, but you could well argue they left two or three more behind them - contrast with Dublin going for the jugular straight from the off in the Leinster final. Mind you, we've only conceded one goal from open play so far this year, and defence could well prove pivotal against Division One level opponents.
It drives me mad, to be honest, the lack of a goal scoring mentality with the Kerry footballers. It's been the same for years. For example, what the hell was Sean O'Shea thinking in the 2nd half when there was a clear and obvious 3 on 2 advantage (if I remember correctly) and he just casually fists it over the bar. They just have to be more ruthless.
it was a strange game in that sense. Our forwards seemed more interested in getting their own scores rather than giving the ball to players in a better position for goal. While at times fisted points are necessary, a few chances today seemed selfish. Killian Spillane may have also moved above Brosnan on todays display.
This whole provincial thing needs to be scraped fairly quick, poor advertisement for the Gaa yesterday, 4 weeks for another match in the hight of summer should be a good match every 2 weeks, we need top 8 teams in the competition, Home and away matches, get the Dubs the Donegals the Mayos down to kilarney each year and Kerry in castlebar.
But you will get something like that in the new championship next year.
The four groups of four containing Div 1 and Div 2 teams should offer some of what you are talking about.
Will it. Your group could be Clare, Meath, and Roscommon.
Armagh could have Tyrone, Kildare and Limerick.
Mayo Monoghan Cork and Louth.
Donegal, Galway, Dublin and Derry could be a group.of death but the rest of them would be a erage fare with one decent game in every group
Well there are many potential combinations but at least it's a step in some direction, we will find out if it's the right one after a few years.
As long as you have the provincial system you will have hammerings, but the next attempt at restructuring will make the provincials as irrelevant as they have ever been when it comes to deciding the championship.
The provincial championships are not going away anytime soon.
The provincial councils are dead right to insist that they remain part of the championship.
Otherwise the revenue to the provincial councils will dry up and all the championship money will flow to central GAA coffers.
Realistically Probably only 8 teams should be in the competition
And even 8 is being generous. (speaking as a Limerick man).
Limerick had brilliant games this year in Div.3 with virtually a kick of a ball winning most games. Another 2 cracking games V Clare and Tipp. That's our level. Any of the teams Limerick played this year would've suffered the same yesterday. And i would throw in most of the Div.2 teams in that too.
Reality is that the Kerry County champions would probably beat Limerick,Clare,Tipp or Waterford.
Kinda pointless seeing as we won so comfortably but it is a bit frustrating how we tend to struggle taking goal scoring opportunities. Nowhere near as clinic as they could be
Lads we scored 4 goals against Galway and 5 goals against Tyrone last year in the league and it did us no good. No point humiliating Limerick even more by knocking in 3 or 4 goals. Let’s save the goals for when we need them in a tight game! If you’re scoring a load of goals against weaker opposition, teams will be more focused on ensuring they don’t allow goal chances.
What was the official attendance on Saturday?
We did not go for goals. I think in the second half the players were under instructions not to go for goals. If we went for his the final score would have been 5 maybe 6-18/20.
Last year against Tyrone it was not putting the ball.over the bar that cost us the game. We tried to run the ball.into the net and Tyrone defended deep turned us over and scored mostly off those turnovers.
If we had taken points last year, we would have been reset for the kick outs and win that game handy.
I think between 15-16k
14,587. Announced during the game.
Pathetic, surely better to drop the prices by a tenner and get an extra say 8k people turning up, same money from the gate for that but the team gets to play in front of a bigger crowd and more fans see them live
Yep. Pure greed and people clearly voting with their feet
14.5 k not too bad considering it was clearly going to be a mismatch .
You would never get 8k extra (50% more). The 15+k I presume include children who are free and kids.
Dropping it by 10 euro assuming that there was 11k adults means 110 k. You would need another 4k paying attendee's before you are again making money.
Ya I agree the price of tickets were fairly stiff but the financial's of dropping it by a tenner are totally different to what you think would happen
Kids are included in the 14,587 figure because tickets for juveniles were a fiver for stand and terrace. Further gouging after upping the adult prices
A fiver for a kid is hardly gouging.
I remember that kids were free for league games pre COVID but I'm almost sure they were always a fiver for championship.
I think they are free into first round of the championship. I think they were never free into the Munster final
If they want to save Cork Gaelic Football the Provincial Championships need to be scrapped.
A different model would take Cork out of the constant shadow of Kerry.
The problem here is that it won't matter a jot to an overall majority of counties and Provincial Councils if Munster and Leinster are virtually dead, as long as Connacht and Ulster remain decently competitive. In any case, Cork had no problem challenging for All-Irelands during the 2000s, culminating in their 2010 success, and the fact that Monaghan and Roscommon keep punching above their demographic weight shows that the Rebels should be performing much better in the League.
Gut wrenching loss here in Croke Park.
Lads were cut open too often by a classy Antrim outfit but kept fighting. Unbelievable spirit to fight back after each bodyblow.
3 easy missed frees from an otherwise excellent Podge Boyle hurt us in the end.
Not sure what happened for the Antrim penalty but the lads on the sideline seemed stunned to see a black card. Another strange incident in I jury time where an Antrim player fell over himself with no Kerryman near him and got a free which Antrim pointed.
Heartbreaking for the lads.
Very proud of the lads the way they fought back, Jesus showed some fighting spirit never say die attitude. .
Well lads, going to the hurling at 2 on Saturday, just wondering what the best spots for parking for Austin Stack Park? 1st time going to a game there, thanks.
