What if there isn't a clear successor straight away? I'd say full-on civil war in the country with the world's biggest nuclear arsenal would give other world leaders a few sleepless nights...
I think Dustin the Turkey actually ran for President of Ireland in the 90s, and if you ask me, he wasn't even the biggest turkey of the bunch! hweh hweh hweh hweh hweh
What beatings are you talking of?
I doubt very much if they will waste a Javelin on one of these..but having said that, these Toyotas can handle rough terrain, and move fast when they need to, so I would not dismiss them either, and that machine gun can do damage.
Ukraine have captured more vehicles/equipment than they've lost in total (749 to 574) - confirmed, Moscow is Ukraines biggest arms supplier
I wrote this in plain english in the post before: "Just as the Russian psyche too often views the West through her lens, we in the West too often tend to view them through ours."
Indeed. More senseless word soup from the orange one.
Talks a lot. Says SFA!!!
Is there going to be a full on civil war that's quite a conclusion to jump to. No matter what happens the Nuclear question is always going to be in the background.
If Putin stays in power he will use nukes as the ballast that allows him push the envelope of International Law attempting to slice off parts of the neighbouring countries?
Its better to deal with this devil first, if others appear then deal with them as well.
But we are almost back there with our right wing government destroying our courts and leading us to autocracy (why people don't see it in the West, I don't know).
You're near obsessed over the rise of the Right in Poland and fair enough, but the "West" does see it and the EU has noted and complained about it and if it goes too far they'll almost certainly do something about it too. There are checks and balances in place that simply don't exist in Russia.
We are still surviving thanks to UE. Russians didn't have such help.
After the USSR fell the West and the EU and western money did engage with Russia. I agree it didn't go far enough and an opportunity was missed, but help was in play. A fair chunk of the average Russian's stability and wealth growth was and is down to Western investments. If the West had sanctioned Russia to thsi degree in 1972 pretty much nobody in Russia would have noticed. They're noticing today.
Look at Ukraine. If Zelensky didn't win last election (and in my opinion his win was partially a result of his show and a big part of people voting for him treated it like voting for Dustin the Turkey in Eurovision at one stage) it would be a Russian puppet there surrendering Ukraine at the spot. And it all be done and dusted now. But as we see, Ukrainians are not like that and are fighting for survival. While, if election went other way, you would sum them up as you summed Russians.
No, because as Maidan clearly showed they were up for change and willing to fight and die for it. A small band of mostly young men and women protestors drifted into the square, the government tried to squash their calls for change, but a large proportion of the Ukrainian nation supported the protestors and the crowds screaming and dying for change kept getting bigger and bigger until their president flew off in his helicopter. The type of change hung in the balance and yep the Far Right and neonazis were very much in the frame, but their support has dwindled year on year before and certainly since that revolution. I don't buy the Dustin the Turkey joke vote comparisons at all. IMHO Zelenskyy got in because he, the TV star, Jewish, Russian speaking, comedian represented change for Ukraine like no other candidate. They voted for change. Pretty much noting like that is evident in Russia.
Russians are the same people as everywhere.
People are the same, their cultural narratives and how they act upon them can be quite different.
Beginners Guide to Technicals....
So what about 2011-2013 protests in Russia? How they were different to Majdan? And how many Russian activists were killed since then?
Ah, they didn't protest, they are like sheep deserving their faith....
You're near obsessed over the rise of the Right in Poland and fair enough,
Would you call all protesters against Putin back then "obsessed"? They were damn right as the history showed us...
LOL.. is that page taken from the Toyota sales magazine??? The next door neighbor had one with the twin cannon set up. and he swore by it for reliability, and all things considered it was not too bad on the juice either. One problem he did have though was with Toyota anti-rust Warranty. They refused to honor it, claimed that the holes it developed were not caused by rust....😎
Well a power struggle in the constitutional crisis in 93 kicked off when Yeltsin was in power and no nukes were in danger of going off.
think I said it 800 or so pages ago, I’ll not be surprised if Putin is “succeeded” by Abramovich.
"The beatings shall continue until moral improves" is a well known saying that highlights the counterproductivity or absurdness of using punishment or oppression to improve morale - a common technique in autocratic institutions. It doesn't refer to specific or actual beatings.
I see your planes and watches and raise you five cargo ships laden with grain:
"Five ships loaded with "tens of thousands of tons" of grain have vanished from a port in Ukraine, and reports indicate that the vessels and their haul were stolen by Russians.
The five cargo ships were allegedly stolen in the port city of Berdyansk in southeastern Ukraine. The ships were towed away into the Sea of Azov by Russian tugboats, the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture and Information Policy's communications arm said on Monday, citing the region's governor and eyewitnesses.
"According to the residents of Berdyansk, there were 5 ships being loaded there. Some of them were fully loaded — we can see from the customs documents — some were partially loaded. A few days ago, these ships disappeared from the port of Berdyansk. People say they were driven away. Russian tugs," Oleksandr Starukh, governor of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, said on Monday."

Nope I did not say that, or anything like it. The snow revolution you speak of sadly didn't get as much traction like the Maidan revolution for a few reasons, not least because they didn't get the wider Russian support beyond the cities. Russia is so bloody huge and with so many regional differences and needs it will be very hard to get the results of a Maidan revolution. Ultimately I feel any regime change in Russia will come from within the Kremlin, supported by outside factors like sanctions, more war dead and possible demonstrations alright, but not wholly driven by them. Something like putin's regional governors coming out against him, or supporting change. The lords will depose their king as it were.
Could it also be interpreted as " Anyone who facilitates removal of Putin will be warmly welcomed by the US" ????
@Wibbs
There are checks and balances in place that simply don't exist in Russia.
They don't exist in Poland either (they actually do, but are too weak as they were in Russia), but they do in EU...
Western money fed oligarchs, there were no "check and balances" introduced. That's why EU was set up, to protect countries against such things and against wars.
Very true my good man very true
Turns out the document was faked, apologies.

Missiles would be overkill, as would anti-tank mines, a nice short burst from a machine gun would do the job nicely. After all, they are just a light commercial vehicle when all is said and done. None the less they are well built and sturdy vehicle, and perfect for what they are designed to do. I saw one where the remote controlled bomb was triggered a fraction of a second too soon, and the vehicle was not directly over the mine when it blew, it blew the bonnet off, smashed the windscreen, bent the chassis, and but kinks in the roof, so twisted the whole car upwards. Even so, it drove all the way home. ( steering was a little it funny though...but everything else worked fine. )
I don't know if it's been generally noticed, but the Russians seem particularly upset with foregn assistance, and nothing more so than foreign volunteers, hence the huge assaults on the barracks at Mykolaiv with missiales, so that news is going to really rile them up - I hope.
This was in the replies as to how they set mines
Crikey, and here was me thinking mines had to be laid manually.
The addition of the crew cab was .. revolutionary..
Nice to see another $50 million SU-35 smoked.
Good follow-up by Biden - he says he was expressing moral outrage rather than outlining administration policy.
So, he may be deliberately sowing seeds while having his staff take the "correct" line. A sophisticated approach methinks.
The Russians say they didn't poison Abramovich, so that's that cleared up then.
You'd have to go a long long way to find a more punchable face.
Every time I see that guy Kadyrov, I think that if you removed the beard, he'd just look like some common knacker loitering outside a midlands courthouse, smoking and looking surly.
