Seems Sofia's version of Yuri Filatov announced that people in Bulgaria don't support Ukraine : he got his answer from the Bulgarian public pronto (I bet that didn't make the news on Channel One in Moscow).
It probably does sound ridiculous but so was the decision to invade.
It wouldn't surprise me if it actually does pan out as he thinks it could.
Don't forget, there may be an unspoken understanding that "what suffices until Putin is gone will suffice long enough" - in other words, "the umbrella is for the reign".
ukraine was not currently an existential threat to Russia, and look what the world is ignoring
And happened while the Defense Minister was enjoying his annual Summer Holiday in Siberia
What suffices until Putin is gone would probably rest on the assumption that whoever succeeds Putin would be relatively reasonable, but it would be an error to think that way.
Ukraine needs long term, cast iron security guarantees that insulate it from this type of victimisation in the future, not half measures.
Probably the poorest country in the world and the last out post of Marxism.
It's not a threat but to it's own people..
Meh, there are 12 year olds with phones and imovie that make better more polished tat than that. His papier mache rocket a joke. A silly little fat manchild shouting look at MEEEE! If there were ever any broad agreement to be found among sides in this time of conflict and doubt, I would be willing bet it would be found in the statement that the sooner that wee piglet shíts himself to death on his gold plated toilet after one too many pizzas the better for the world and his people.
And in Russia, you can't even question it...( well you can, if you don't mind serving up to 15 years in prison for "Fake News regarding the military in Ukraine, but I guess that covers Russian military activity any where in the world??? )
A half measure, right now, that cools down Putin, may well be an excellent approach.
Putin's successor is going to be quite busy rebuilding the country and therefore more amenable to securing trade in return for non-aggression assurances.
Unusual decision. It will probably kill more Lithuanians than foreign invaders.
"I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle. I also need a curry chips, two battered sausages, a deep fried pizza and a two litre bottle of Club orange."
How? Its not 'Merica where a public Joe keeps his ak-47 under his pillow. They are professional members of defence and will have to keep them in special lockers/safes.
The West has met Putin with half measures since he rolled tanks into Crimea and it hasn't really cooled him off. Us here can look at the idea of compromise as meeting halfway. I think Putin sees it as a sign of weakness. This is why I think the West needs to be coolly firm with him in any negotiation.
We'd don't know what Putin's successor would be like. Even if you got a few years of a reasonable leader, there's aways the chance that Russia lapses back into authoritarianism and Ukraine potentially back to wishing it had joined NATO.
you forgot to say please
First Ukraine has to have cast iron ( or stronger) guarantees regarding its future, secure in the knowledge that no Russian leader will ever again threaten Ukrainian freedom and democracy. And to do that, they will have to defeat the Russian military beyond any doubt. Let Putin spin it anyway he wants for his home consumption, but his military commanders, and the world in general will know that when Russia invaded Ukraine, they were defeated. Slava Ukraine.
What I'm learning about war:Accurate Intelligence ,logistics and morale beats superior numbers and hardware, even in modern warfare. I suppose it only makes sense if you can't get an erection, your elephant penis means nothing.
Russia latest, phase 1 complete army completely shattered and plan in absolute disarray.
Also putin is upset by cancel culture cancelling Russia 🤣🤣🤣
A laughing stock of a military and a nation with a proven clown as a leader , fuckin delighted 😂😂
I was not referring to military help but EU membership.
In January, it was thought that Russia had the second-best army in the world. In March, the current assessment is that Russia has the second-best army in Ukraine.
They've been badly found out. As armies go, we've discovered it's not a very good one.
Russia is recruiting syrians to fight for them and other mercenaries.
This is for plausibility of denial. Putin is SUPPOSEDLY held by international laws not to commit war crimes. Mercenaries are not.
So he is intending to try and worm out of being blamed war crimes and in particular the assassination of zelensky.
Ermm its a bit late to find excuses for war crimes
I was expecting him to break into a dance routine and introduce the world to the Gangnam Style Missile.
Its not ..its what he did in aleppo ..and it worked. And it might only have to pass at home to russia.
The aleppo handbook.

It would be a shame if that sob Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev attacked it, which he probably would, and they had to bring in airpower to defend the fleet and there were a few Russian and Chechen cassualties.
I doubt it will happen because they will demand that Russia give them guarantees of safety, and a pause in hostilities and they will refuse so it won't happen. I'd like to be wrong.
"Make that a Club Orange Zero - I'm on a diet."
What did President Zelenskyy mean when he referred to Ireland as "well almost". Does he not believe we support Ukraine?
Hey.
Well almost is not a good translation.
He said ну практично or nu praktychno
nu ..can mean a lot of things ...it can mean ...'I MEAN' ' But ' well ' or 'Now'
Praktychno can mean pragmatically practically or practical
So for me it can mean he said 'I mean practically ' well practically' or 'now practically. 'Its difficult to explain but english is a very precise language.
It means he is satisfied ..but he might want two or more small things. Or he might have wanted one or two things differently.
It could be translated as something like we nearly have a done deal. Just maybe a couple of details. Dot the T's etc. We are almost there now etc.
Or I almost got everything i wanted but in reality its splitting hairs im satisfied..
That is my take.
that prob isn't very clear or helpful but wutever ....im doin me
