Do the Azeri have any unfinished business with Armenia? Armenia is allied to Russia, and if Russia need to pull their peacekeeping forces out of there, that situation could flare up.
That's one of the big dangers of prolonging this invasion for Russia. By demoralising their army and their economy, they reduce their ability to keep a lid on things domestically and in the near abroad. Suddenly Russia could find itself with multiple fires to try and put out - protests in the cities, armed conflict in the Caucuses and revolutions in the Central Asian Republics. This is one scenario in which the folly of Ukraine puts the very survival of the Russian Federation in jeopardy.
On the other hand:
"Georgian volunteers led by the former Georgian Minister of Defense, Irakla Okruashvili, are defending Ukraine against the Russian invaders," reports the Ukrainian army.
Apt time for Georgia to strike back and take back what was stolen from it. I believe there is only a few thousand Moskovites there, and after this, even less. This is going to plan for Putin.
One minute it's '.... Yah, the Russian civilian population need to suffer because they are all responsible for this..' Then it's, '... Yah, so I think we need to give the Russian soldiers, those actually attacking Ukraine, 10,000 euro each and an Irish passport.'
Russia deploys its troops to Ukraine, which are deployed in Georgia, CNN reports, citing a high-ranking US defense official.
Totally agree with this.
Have come across two in my line of work and they think they know the job better than us paddies despite been utterly clueless.
Russian saboteurs walking around Kyiv like,
I think many of us have met the "Irish Russians" and I can't say I was ever impressed by their attitudes. That goes for the many you will meet when on holidays also (we avoided them like the plague anytime we were unfortunate enough to have them close to us). They have the attitude that they are "superior to us". Back to the motherland with them all.
Some really f*cking stupid stuff is being suggested on thread tbh.
According to "Nowa Gazeta", the first 200-strong group of Lebanese Hezbollah fighters will arrive in Belarus next week. They are to be sent to a military base in the Gomel region, and on March 29 they are to travel to Ukraine to fight for the Russian side. "In total, we are talking about employing 800 fighters. The fee for hiring one fighter is $ 1,500 per month," emphasizes NEXTA.
So you will have Ukrainian refugees living in one flat and 4 ex Russian soldiers living next door.
What could possibly go wrong?
The head of the Ukrainian intelligence announced that "spring will soon come, the forests will turn green and a real hell will begin for the Russian occupiers." He added that a network of partisans in the rear of Russian troops is being intensively built to launch targeted attacks.
A Russian was arrested in Kiev carrying a machine gun and several hundred rounds of ammunition, Ukrinform reports.
Are attacks on Saudi Arabia common? Russia fighting a country with NATO behind them while Iran attacks Saudi Arabia? Are they just trolling?
TBH the only bit of "Russia" that Ukraine can aim to do damage to is Crimea. If they get the chance they should and likely will do as much damage as they can to it, maybe take a bit of it back. Then in the peace talks hand it back over as goodwill gesture having ruined it like Russia are trying to ruin Ukraine.
Yep. Corrib due to run out in 2025 which leaves a big of a problem for ourselves.
Never ceases to amaze me at the utter destruction inflicted on Russia's heavy artillery.
Its like a can opener has been taken to those tanks.
So you want to offer passports and 10,000 euro to Russian soldiers now? You do realise that will include those who have committed atrocities in Ukraine and then decide, ok, that was fun, I'm off to Ireland now with my 10,000 euro?
Did you have the same plan for ISIS soldiers?
I am currently reading a book on the Battle of Stalingrad and am in the build up to it, mostly Operation Barbarossa.
The shades are near exact to this one. Nobody thought it was a good idea at the time. Nobody believed it would happen until it actually did. It as a one man operation. They underestimated the fight in the defenders. The importance of supply lines underestimated. They over stretched themselves too thinly. Balding leader with self esteem issues against a man with a fine set of hair.
Spot on. They are losing territory now. The Russians announced the "new phase" to the war and look to have downscaled their ambitions.
I'm simply impressed that 10 days ago he said they would "culminate in 10 days" and lo and behold, today is the day they "revise" their plans.
My understanding is that he's referring to the amount of supplies that travelled with them initially to their pre-invasion positions.
I'm not saying anything, but he did, and he seems to have been on the money.
**** that, they're all willing to act like poor unwilling conscripts when things go pear shaped but no problem with murdering Ukrainians and looting when they have the upper hand
**** 'em.
Running out of ammo sounds straightforward enough on a personal level - I have no more ammo for my gun, so I can't shoot. On the level of more than 100,000 men it can't really mean literally the same kind of thing, just given how sprawling an operation that is.
Is it that there is no more ammo coming after this, or that they're out of ammo in certain key areas like precision bombs, for example? I thought I heard one expert on SKY news saying that in the transition to attrition warfare, Russia will be able to shell areas Ukraine continually for a few months. If that assessment is true, then obviously they're not out of shells.
Unreal. That's badass.
There's nothing wrong in Donbas some cluster bombs and a few thousand barrels of napalm won't fix.
Asylum is a big thing and should be promoted more. Most of the Russian troops are from **** poor villages and towns in the middle of nowhere. And when they get back, or should I say IF they get back, they'll be associated with a failed war and in a Soviet economy.
As I said before, offer them 10k and political asylum/passport in the EU for whatever countries want to step up.
That offer would be very very tempting for those in the Kyiv convoy or around Kherson. It's not far to go to surrender. They can even offer them a new identity if they are worried about repercussions.
As "tourist" visa can be arranged for the wife and kids too.
Time for Ukraine to claim back Donbas and Crimea
Bullseye !

Man, there's some increasingly desperate reaching you're going to on this thread to steer conversation back to the EU and no one biting.
