Not pleasant viewing..but
Edited that,
thanks.
Speaking of propaganda, like many a crazed group of authoritarians before them, Putin and co started by writing a fiction to manipulate, gain influence and control. Then they started to believe their own hype. They shut down all domestic criticism of the message, surrounded themselves with yes men/yes women to massage their egos and next thing you know they’ve imagined circumstances to go to war, launched an utterly brutal and sickening invasion without any logic to it. It seems they didn’t even understand their own logistical limitations, but just assumed they’d limitless power.
They can’t win it as it’s grossly unjust. They can’t expect to control Ukraine as they’re not going to just be rolled over. They can’t win hearts and minds because their argument is just brutality if you don’t agree with them. They’ve destroyed any prospect of normal relations with Ukraine for probably a century and with most of the civilised world for a very long time. Nobody’s going to trust them as far as they can throw them.
They are destined to drown in their own lies, propaganda and extreme imperial notions . They’ve done mind boggling levels of physical damage, destroyed towns, cities, infrastructure, killed a huge number of people and destroyed the lives and livelihoods of tens of millions of people.
They’ve also taken and destroyed ordinary Russians’ reputation and prospects for probably a generation … and all for what?
There’ll be an economic collapse and a brain drain that could well last more than a generation and they’ve very little to offer, other the energy exports, which amount to a pipe stuck into the ground with a meter to enrich a few oligarchs.
Russia had huge prospects. It had technological prowess in engineering, aviation, space, medicine etc etc and it’s all just been thrown away by a string of authoritarian self serving governments that cared nothing for any of that, as long as a small cabal was enriched.
All I see is brutality, misery, suffering and wasted lives.
Of the 1.9 million refugees that have crossed the polish border, 1 million of them are minors .
According to data provided by the polish border security.
Yeah I think this is going to get to the stage of a blood libel. Its not going anywhere for about 3 generations .
Weimar Republic here they come...
Looking at what Zelenskyy showed congress I can't see any Russian soldier ever sleeping soundly in Ukraine after this is over.
They will forever be hated by Ukrainians and will have to keep one eye open in the back of their heads.
I've seen you going on a few times about propaganda, now. You seem to have something of a bee in your bonnet about it. Listen, we can sort through fact from fiction later on and what was exaggerated and what wasn't, but the basic facts are that Russia has launched an illegal invasion of Ukraine and that is fundamentally wrong, even if Ukraine's government is not perfect itself, and the people of Ukraine, especially in places like Mariupol, are getting unmercifully shelled. For the ordinary people of Ukraine, I am happy to see them get all the help they can, and if their spirits are buoyed by things like the Ghost of Kyiv (which I saw you refer to dismissively earlier in the thread), that's excellent, even if it is propaganda. Anything which boosts Ukrainian spirits and demoralises the Russians is a total plus.
Absolute **** cowards.
Poster somewhat excited at my observation that Putin may not see out next year as leader!
Better than being actually bombarded isn't it?
This has been horrendous since the start but I'm starting to feel like we are at a different level of being bombarded by propaganda and it's ramping up and it's unsettling.
Let's hope we get to a resolution soon.
Looks like quite a few more civilian casualties are to be added from Mariupol. Mostly women and children. Sick bastards.
Apparently, there was chatter from Russia that Ukranians would blow this very spot up a couple of days ago.. This was not an accident.
Looks legitimate -
Inflation is rising in Russia at 2% *per week*, as related by their own media : this is a dangerously overheating economy.
Wut?
Eh what?
It would be so joyful to wake up in the morning , turn on the radio and BREAKING NEWS “ M! P!!!! H!! B!!! A!,,,,,,,” It would be all my christmases and birthday coming together. For the rest of my life. O wait , who is his replacement? The contents of that video to US congress was Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooopppppppppppppppppp repulsive to put it mildly. The agent I’ve which I want to use has not been thought of yet
This article from the 9th February has not aged very well:
Thankfully Germany will move away from the naive "Ostpolitik", we certainly don't need a "courageous new Ostpolitik" as the author suggests.
Brilliant news for Ukrainian armed forces. These things are game-changers, especially in terms of taking on open artillery that is killing many Ukrainian civilians
Mityaev is the 4th Russian general to die, of around 20 thought to be leading the invasion, meaning a fifth have already died in it the space of three weeks. Jaysus!! Blyat He was killed attempting to take Mariupol and died alongside seven elite special operations fighters from the supposed 'feared' Dzerzhinsky Division of the country’s national guard, which is under Putin's direct control.
The other three to die:
The republic of Iceland?
Yeah, they were hiding in plain sight all along. Everyone knew they were seriously 'dodgy', but the invasion has shown they are sinister and dangerous.
Yes and offcourse Ukraine, that was the first thing they did, remove all state sponsored russian media
Many other neigbours as well, baltic states etc have also banned it
Now there's a surprise.......................... said no-one ever
The world seems to be finally waking up to how rotten to the core modern Russia really is. The judiciary, the entire Duma (parliament), the heads of industry, the vast majority of Russian media, the police
It was necessary though. You couldn't even call the video 'emotive', just a chronicle of the horrible atrocities the Putin regime has been carrying out. Congress (and the rest of us) needed to see it.
The thing is, would you blame the Ukrainians for not trusting Russia in any scenario?
I mean they can say to the Ukrainians to give up their army but there is a high proportion of Ukrainian men who are now very familiar with various weapons and have access to those weapons. Are they thinking they will be able to take the weapons off those people?
