Well I had to prove I wasn't posting from an interwebs cafe off Red Square. So it's your fault. 😁 It's a couple of years old, the newest watch in my pile of ticking junk actually, and it and many other types are still available. I can buy a brand new one today. Or rather could, though even if I could, wouldn't now for obvious reasons.
And we agree that Russia and the Russian people deserve better and should and could be more like I dunno Poland or Belgium than they are. But a mixture of their cultural need for "strong men" - like ours for gombeen, of the parish pump, family name, fúckwits that held and still hold us back - and autocratic pirates, political and religious has fúcked them over and hold them back. Painting them as rude and backward and degenerated serves no purpose in helping them get beyond that. It's a reactive and conveniently easy stance and lord knows we all are prey to reaction and convenience, but it does them, nor us, any good.
And the plain fact is CHBS, before this murderous misadventure by their muppet czar, Russia and Russians were better off than they were twenty years ago. It was a low bar, but they see their muppet czar as the reason for that. I don't buy that, you don't buy that, but sadly many if not most of them do. And until they wake from that slumber they'll dig in. Calling them rude, backward and degenerated, or worse will simply supply them with more shovels and putin will be there happily handing them out. That's the problem I have with that kind of rhetoric.

Odessa has a strong cultural tie into both the Russian and Ukrainian psyche. An incredible city with a long history. If those pricks bombard that into rubble... Well I hope they die screaming and hopefully the Ukrainian defenders make that wish come true.
