Remarkable that people aren't buying the excrement Russia is shovelling for sure; truly remarkable...
But when is last time you saw "Made in Russia" on a product and when was the last time you didn't see "Made in China" on the back of a product?
China supplies Russia.
Europe turns off gas and money taps to Russia.
Russia no means to pay China.
Chinese economy tanks (Evergrande still ongoing) public revolt.
CCP can't afford to do this.
This is brave
What baffles me is what would be in it for China to back the dictator and pariah state against the whole of the West? It makes absolutely no sense. It would be like backing North Korea in a stand off with the rest of the globe.
Can't see how. There is barely a thing you touch in your home or work life that if not entirely made in China certainly has a number of parts that do. You sanction them and 10s of thousands of western businesses cease production in the morning. Millions of jobs and almost no alternative means of supply. Theres not a chance it happens.
The best option is for the EU to incentivise Eastern Europe to start production of certain critical items and the US do the same with central America. Its a double win for the US as it'll also stop the immigration from Central America if they help those countries and reduce the problems with drug cartels.
Channel One, Russia this evening
The Kremlin created baseless claims about labs in Ukraine.
A Russian military truck with a chemical warning symbol was recently photographed, that and other intelligence hinted that Russia could be preparing a chemical attack as a false flag or provocation. Given that Putin has openly used chemical weapons before, his forces have fired on a nuclear power station in this war, and prior to the invasion there was several small false flag attacks in Donbass (which were predicted, including the invasion itself), it's unsurprising those warnings were taken quite seriously. And continue to be.
Poor woman.
We stand with you throughout. But we cannot help.
If you can make it out of ShitRussia, millions of people will assist.
Pretty much a death sentence.
Incredible bravery.
China will play both sides for as long as they can. They’ll watch quietly and won’t act unless left with no choice due to economic pressure. It’s certainly not a moral issue for them.
Putin going after foreign mercenaries
Oh your back again with your rear of the internet far reaches, terrible takes .
This is novel.. do tell us more of these 'interesting' factoids.
At some point you need to come back to reality, this (video below) happened in Russia, explain how your spiel above can co-exist with russians risking their lives by doing this on screen, what do you think will happen to her? Do you stand by it? On the point of biological weapons, this was flagged before the russians said they found labs, do those labs actually exist in Ukraine? Back some of this up rather than pontificating.
There is a huge NATO naval exercise currently underway off the Norwegian coast. I'm counting at least 30 ships, including a British aircraft carrier, all with their ATIS transmitting their location, just in case.
They have backed Norht Korea though or at least facilitated them. I'm sure they'd love to do the same to Russia. China is as repulsed by a potential open democracy on its borders as Russia claim to be of NATO.
It will be an issue if it brings about CCP downfall.
Putin has dragged his regime, his army, his economy, his country thru the sheet in the last couple of weeks.
Do the Chinese want to be part of that?
Channel One is the TV channel that Putin seized from Boris Berezovsky in 2001, Marina Ovsyannikova's protest will be seen as a serious F*ck You to Putin.
Before making her protest she recorded a video urging all Russians to protest against the war in Ukraine. Alexey Venediktov (Editor-in-Chief of the recently shutdown Ekho Moskvy radio station) announced on Telegram that she was arrested immediately afterwards.
Brave, brave girl
You pick a poor example with semi conductors.
Your bamboo spork that comes with your 3 euro fruit pot isn't going to be made by someone on a grand a day, frankly they're not being made by anyone likey, but totally automated, but the cost of doing business is much less.
I completely agree though, huge own goal, we have become too dependent. And as the Chinese economy becomes stronger so does their appetite for nicer things and their desire to pay for them, and eventually prices will go up, and we the west will have to pay for it.
I remember 15 years ago walking through Home Depot, a B&Q type chain in the US. I picked up 10 items at random. 10 items that were traditional US brands, all made in China.
A good example. A builders Kango hammer..electric jack hammer that we purchased in the mid 1980s coat £900. Incredible piece of kit if It takes your fancy. Still fully operational 40 years later.
You can now walk into B&Q and buy a similar item, for €150. Total piece of junk, that if you leave it and never used it will turn to dust in 40 years.
We need to get away from throw away goods, it's not sustainable, both environmentally and I'd argue, politically, but, I really don't think the will is there.
I know the company I work with, globally a 20 billion a year organisation know full well they're too dependent on the Chinese sourced components, but it's a chicken and egg dilemma, source elsewhere, be less competitive and lose market share, or status quo. I'd again argue, the former in tje longer term is the bravest plan, but when you're owned by ultimately by investment funds that are fundamentally interested in the financial rewards no further kn the future than the tip of your nose, I don't see it happening unless they're left with not options.
All of this may seem a long way from the thread discussion of the war, but the reality is, its not. Not one bit
Whilst continuing to go after civilians of course
On a side note, I don't know if this is related
Probably more so civilians than anyone else , Russia prefers shooting and bombing those who don't have an ability to defend against them
Absolutely we are dependent on Chinese throwaway products but they are much much more dependent on the money we pay for this stuff. Therefore it would be unbelievable if they backed the Russians and risked damaging this vital market. I think they will see sense.
Mercenaries, Mercenaries, Mercenaries.....
How much would it take?
$50M? $100M? $250M?
... to take the short **** out?
Let's just ask Elon to sponsor it and get back to living a normal life for everyone.
Targeting civilians and infrastructure because they can't beat the Ukrainians in a straight up fight. Not to mention having to bus in mercenaries and paramilitaries.
Interesting theory going around that the Russians know the game is up and are now just trying to do as much damage to Ukrainian infrastructure and industry as they can before they **** off.
Russia seem to be moving ships around Japan also.
Also..
Any plane people can tell. If this is real? Brilliant if it is.
China are facing the biggest crop failure of modern times this year, Which may factor in how they proceed in the next few days ,
I get the feeling they may well come to putins aid to prove a point
So he's allowed foreign mercenaries but the Ukrainians aren't?
