I think Blinken is a future presidential candidate.
I'm fairly certain Joe earns the current GDP of Russia (though he gets a bit annoyed if that's brought up)
I dont think he is going to attack Poland but by moving the Iron Curtain to the Polish Ukrainian border it would be the normal Russian playbook that he will seek to provoke Poland by constantly flying into their airspace. He already plays these games with the RAF who had to scramble fighter jets several times west of Ireland to protect NATO airspace from Russian incursions. He plays similar games with the Swedish airforce too and also runs Russian subs through the English channel.
After the current war is over I could see a war of attrition between NATO and Russia lasting years with the Polish Ukrainian border being the main focal point but also that Ukraine gives him more new borders and the opportunity to try to provoke Romania, Hungary and Slovakia as well. Once Ukraine is under his control he has got four new EU countries that he has a border with so he will load up the other side of those borders in Ukraine with Russian military infrastructure. He will constantly be flying Russian jets along the Ukrainian border to test NATO airspace.
Send both!
A few pages back, a Ukrainian walking his dog found an abandoned 20 million mobile sam launcher: https://latestpagenews.com/news/ukrainian-man-walking-in-the-woods-finds-15m-russian-tank-and-claims-it/
Biden disgusts me. I really worried when during the election he was publicly pouring out his grief for his son who died in Iraq, several times, that he wouldnt have the bottle to commit the US militarily if the need arose, and sure enough that has been confirmed. I wish Hillary were the president instead. Poor Blinken; stitches up a really good plan to get Mig-29s and SU-25s to Ukraine only to have president gutless wonder pull the rug out from under him. Talk about humilliating one of your hard-working best publicly.
As for the way he has been 200% clear that the US wouldn't get involved; wouldn't it have been smarter to be non-commital and leave Putin guessing? Even send over a wing of A-10s quietly, with no public announcement. That would have perhaps rattled Putin and made him lees confident about invading. Incredibly bad performance.
Joe Duffy I'd imagine
But... Where will they do their propaganda now?
It would seem they are fully concerned about optics at home. And people getting clued in as to whats going on.
I see Russians biggest talk show host akin to Stephen colbert or Jimmy fallen has fled the country with his family in toe.
Optics optics.
That made me laugh
It seems Russia isn't happy with simply blocking Facebook, they want it recognised as an "extremist organisation".
"The Prosecutor General's Office of Russia asked the court to recognize Meta as an extremist organization"
That's if we assume a) they expected to be easier, a good assumption alright and b) they don't care about optics anymore at home(they currently have that sewn up) or abroad and are going old style. And they have the manpower and firepower and time to do it. They've been sanctioned into pariahdom and for the moment that's not stopping them. Hell, it's been reported that they've seized leased airliners. Small biscuits except it means they're game over for leasing and insurance across the board going forward, so it seems they just don't care.
I didn't. That's why I said our inteligence services are laughable.
I have to wonder how Russia intends to feed them, and with what? Their own troops are murdering Ukrainian civillians just for their food.
We're about as neutral as a vegan who eats a medium rare steak on Fridays
I was just reading up on the Russian invasion of Finland. Sweet Jesus they lost 200k soldiers against the Fins. Even though the Fins surrendered in the end, it was still viewed as a defeat for Russia. I'm seeing the same scenario building here. A sort of 'win' for Russia on paper, but in reality it's a defeat. Or maybe it could be a defeat on paper too.....
being militarily neutral is not the same as not taking sides. We are still supporting sanctions, and anti Russia in every way other than the supply of military equipment or the direct participation in the conflict. We are absolutely not like India or China. We are like Sweden
people completely misunderstand what neutrality in an Irish context means
Tell me people won't miss whatsapp. It's the primary messaging service in Russia..
And insta obviously for the youths...
I've read a couple of things around the Comms being awful.
And deep down I'm sure Vlad knows this is going bad or he would have had a melter about wasting 8 cruise missiles.
I really like the aggressive, go for the throat, pull no punches approach that WION, an Indian, global media outlet takes. Their special on Putin is good:
I have been tuning into them via satellite for some time.
You would think that arrogance would wear off after two weeks of javelins and NLAWs toasting tank crews. Maybe their comms are so bad that they have extremely poor situational awareness.
Actually to me it smacks of arrogance, that the Ukrainians wouldn't dare to put it up to them
Yep, they are taking massive losses. Tanks being abandoned and not even being put out of use first. Clearly the Russian military leadership and planning is woefully incompetent. Their tactics are unbelievably foolish, crowding tanks and trucks up to three lanes across in built up areas. It just shows how insecure they feel if they resort to crowding together like that.
I know that but perhaps the Mali junta were making inquiries as they are in need of some 'security' after announcing there won't be any elections for at least 5 years.
The Global Hawk drone can detect them.
F16s with the right radar can also detect and track them.
Then how could she be talking in 2017 about being in Moscow, the Russian Olympics and being in Kiev during the revolution? Are you saying she is lying about being there?
The journalist interviewed in the post a while back was saying Putin doesn’t use computers or social media, or at least that was the situation in 2017. That’s nuts if it’s true.
The Polish prime minister sounded a bit jittery and spooked in the joint press conference with Kamala Harris. I don’t think Putin will invade in the next couple of years, but will use a buildup of troops on the border as a threat to influence Polish politics. He’ll probably go with the same kind of disinformation campaign and try to stoke division and paranoia.
They pulled the Wagner group back out of Mali a week or so ago. They have been in Ukraine for a while now.
Russias first domestically designed and made cell-phone will be something like:
That Russian teen brat smashing her iPhone and cutting up decadent western clothing is going to be regretting it in 4 years time when the going price for a working iPhone 8 is 10m roubles.
I remember the cold war well. I was acquainted with an amazing young lady - tiny, blonde - who in the early eighties flew to Vladivostok and got on the trans-siberian express and crossed all of communist USSR - solo. She recounted that the food was, er, off-putting and that she had to carry several rubber bath plugs because not a single bath in any hotel or accommodation had one, as they were a treasured item and very sought after and much stolen. Some of hers were nicked.
Amazing courage.
I doubt Putin has a short memory or forgets the empty shelves and general depravtion. He isn't even kidding himself and is just putting on a brave 'I havent really screwed the pooch' face.
It's complicated. It seems the older people with less access to the internet and who watch only TV news are completely brainwashed by the propaganda (though there will be a fair amount of younger people going along with it too). It appears the Ukrainian invasion is far less popular in general than the Crimea one in 2014.
The black wagners ...
thought the Russians hate blacks?
