The Ukranians wouldn't have to arm themselves if Russia minded its own business.
Vladimic! Close enough?
Thanks. I've been following the Russia/Ukraine situation since at least 2014, I'm not interested in this Putinbot regurgitated propaganda from a brand new "activated" account. If you are Russian, cool, I have both Russian and Ukrainian colleagues, some of whom I work closely with.
I wonder will this war stop the EU slowly trying to disarm it's citizens?
The Simpsons yet again predicting the future to a tee.
oh the reason is very clear alright- as well you know it boyo- the rabid Russian expansionalists can’t handle the fact that no one wants anything to do with them, moreover neighboring countries that they’ve subjugated and leached off for centuries. So they want to bring them back into orbit via force and destruction. Anyone with a rudimentary grasp of the local history and geography knows this. Let alone a supposed Russian that left there to enjoy the freedoms of the west
Not much point linking to a paywalled article, but...I'm looking at footage of lines of Ukrainian civilians blocking the road to Russian vehicles and the vehicles are rolling up to them and just stopping. Klaxons are blaring but not even a pointed weapon or a warning shot. I'd love to see a transcript (and translation) of the radio traffic between those vehicles and their HQ further back. I wonder if it's possible that the average Russian soldiers' moral commitment to the attack is so low that that some are refusing to mow down civilians, or that officers aren't willing to give the orders to do so.
Maybe they're just hanging back anyway while the artillery does its work.
Russia is invading Ukraine. It's pretty black/white.
The Swedish Army recently resurrected their Gotland Regiment for this reason (disbanded during the Cold War).
At one stage in the 80s they apparently had the 4th largest air force in the world. They even had their own nuclear weapons programme up until the 60s. They certainly meet the definition of an "armed neutral".
I believe it's already gone well beyond that. It's not 'don't attack us or we'll attack you', rather its 'I can do what I like and I can threaten nuclear armagedon, even if I say your sanctions and "aggressive statements" are not to my liking.'
'I can also use the resources of other countries to help crush the country I've invaded. But no one can provide resources to that country because I say so and if they do I'll nuke them'
The thing is nuclear deterrence is only useful for those that have them or for those who refuse to play by those rules and who use them to get their own way. For everyone else, it's simply tough sh!t
That's not paywalled if it's your first article of the month.
Ukrainians will not need visa to work in Poland. The only required thing is the stamp in passport confirming that they crossed the border. Also they will be included into the same social program supporting parents an Polish citizens (500 złotych ~ 110 euro per month per child).
My wife grandmother said she preferred Germans over the Russians during the war.
I asked why,the Germans killed you, the Russians raped you.
You should be ashamed of yourself. Your fellow countrymen who were brave enough to speak out over the years were rounded up and sent to goulags to be tortured and killed. And yet you who is living in the west and know what is happening refuse to condemn that **** putin. There are thousands of volunteers from around Europe headed to help Ukraine fight ye and I hope they make ye sorry.
Lol.
Like there isn't a war coming soon anyway.
Your the stupid one!
Poland really are pulling out all the stops to help, they are legends.
Can't recall any modern military power in recent memory using as many unguided rockets as Russia. Just lobbing those things everywhere. No guidance whatsoever. Lick your finger, find the wind direction and fire.
Anyone who isn't against what's happening now is biased or has swallowed Kremlin propaganda about de nazifying Ukraine, a country that elected a Jewish president, or is a total d!ckhead like Putin himself. Which category would you put yourself in?
The split in Russia is generational. Those that grew up in the USSR (aged 50+) are more likely to buy into Putins strong man image and they probably don't consume much western media so they support this invasion and probably everything that goes with it, even when the price of bread jumps 30% over a weekend. Younger people don't support this at all and that gives me hope that someday Russia will come into the light once Putins generation are dead and gone.
Im astounded by the polish nation and their people daily. Their unwavering generosity and support to Ukraine blows me away. Only for them, Poland is Ukraines safety valve. They know all too well what the Russian war mongering savages are like, they’ve had centuries of these Neanderthals. A fantastic country, the epitome to me of what Europe is all about. We must back them to the hilt here in Ireland, I’ve no doubt we won’t be found wanting.
Unfortunately this fits perfectly with what Anastasiya SHAPOCHKINA said on france24. She is a very intelligent Ukranian academic and political analyst expert on Russia. She gave an utterly chilling account of the Russians having plans to exterminate almost the entirety of Ukraines civil society - 2 million people. Pol Pot, Mao, Stalin and now Putin.
She said weeks ago they had lists they have been compiling for years and now names, addresses, social media accounts, phone numbers and would go door to door and exterminate, disappear, or Gulag, millions.
Russian forces have entered Kherson city down the south apparently (although still appears under Ukrainian control and administration)
In stark contrast to this wretched, self-satisfied and smugly neutral dump.
To show the Americans he can do what he wants and his country would still be standing.
Prick Wallace and Cnut Daly voted against an EU motion to condem Russian aggression in the EU parliament
Anyone responsible for voting this vermin to represent Ireland in Europe, Have a good look at yourself.
Erm? 🤔
Hear hear.
WTF
Yep, he's doing the Grozny/Syria-Assad blitz now
