I'm done now today thankfully can't stand the damn things
But , I'm thinking its better if we have a mix of non-masked and masked population going forward
Move to a position where the vulnerable are now protecting themselves rather than everyone being restricted in the event of a new variant etc.
Just dumped mine in the bin as well. They won't be missed!
I need to go down the town later anyway. Will be interesting to see how many are still wearing them locally.
On the train now without mask, feels a bit wrong as majority still wearing them. But was in cinema yesterday and nobody was wearing them sitting shoulder to shoulder.
Those are the rules now up to u
Welcome to normalcy.
Glorious!
I'm very interested to see the % wearing them at the supermarket
Also will be interested to see what staffs have to continue the wearing.
Also if there's any attempts to encourage customer mask wearing by any of the chains
That was always a big part of the problem I had with them - the illogic and contradictory nature of the requirements.
Sit in a restaurant or hotel as long as you like unmasked while eating among many other people, but then pretend you're carrying the plague to go to the bathroom or leave. Or it's grand if you order a meal for almost a tenner, or if you don't stay longer than 105 minutes etc (and yes I know the reasons these rules were put in place, but they never made sense).
I'd say many of those people will be ditching them in the next day or two as well. A lot of people don't actually read/watch the news anymore and I wasn't sure myself whether the restrictions ended today or from midnight tonight.
I'll be quietly taking my business elsewhere if asked to put on a mask (which I won't have on me in any case) this week.
It's important that this be allowed to end.
I made a point of looking out for signage yesterday when I did the shopping and it looks like it's been removed from most places I passed already
I mentioned already I was alarmed that my son mentioned he has to continue mask wearing. He works in retail customer facing.
I wouldn't see that lasting long. Staff will rightly point out it makes no sense when customers don't have to, and that they themselves don't need to anywhere outside their employer.
FREEDOM!!!!!!!
Before covid I never saw people wearing masks
Close contacts me hole, get on with it now end of this nonsense, could die from a heart attack or anything at any time
I was on a bus this morning and was surprised to see that everyone was still wearing masks.
Well they did . Kids on chemo and after bone marrow transplant wore medical masks as did adults on chemo . So there you go , just because you didn’t see doesnt mean they didn’t
Great day and we've waited a long time for it, i'll never wear a mask again the sooner we get back to normal the better for all of us,
It'll take a few days - some don't listen to the news or read the papers. Many now consider it a point of honour not to watch RTE 😊
One of my team said PCR tests are no longer free but up to 90 quid now? That will hasten the end too. People won't pay that, so less cases, less coverage and it fades away - especially with what's happening further East in the last week.
Same here.
Still bagged at work, but only when moving around, kind of like in a pub 🙄
Anyway, it's freedom day. Yay.
The vast majority of staff and customers were wearing masks in my local SuperValu this morning.
Tis like Stockholm Syndrome still wearing a mask, let it go folks.
Staff in some chains being told to wear them so I've been hearing
A lot of people don't actually realise that the mandate is finished now. Some think it's tomorrow. Also people reluctant to be first to take them off.
A few days and they'll be largely gone where they are not mandatory
quite a few were still wearing them in the betting shoppes this morn ,, well; apart from me, and 'the usual suspects' (who've been getting away with it for weeks now 😪) ,,, I predict an uptick in non rag wearing on t'morrow 🙂
delighted to see the back of the damned things!
I bet you that will change
No but I won’t judge anyone that does.
Are they still compulsory in medical settings?
Yes∆
And is the pharmacy a medical setting?
What's the betting it'll really kick off this week about keeping the masks
Healthy normal people didn't wear masks before covid.
