I’m hopefully wrong, but I’ve this awful feeling the Russians will get a massive rebound in fortunes tonight and Tomorrow. It’s just that the phrase “temporary halted” the Russians has been used a lot and it’s true. The videos of Ukrainian men and women who have signed up to defend their country is great to see.
I’ve worked/ talked to with many polish, Lithuanians, Belarusians, but I don’t think I’ve had any interactions with Ukrainians but they seem like a sound bunch.
for the polish at least Germany and Russia were held in equal amounts of contempt. One former co worker said her father hadn’t been in Germany in years, but he’d only go back if it was on top of a tank.
It's a perfectly rational decision. At every possible opportunity, and through every possible medium Russians need to be reminded of how despicable their actions are and that they will be treated as international pariahs until they can act in a civilised manner.
finlandization raising its ugly head again
Apparently 'Anonymous'* hacked Russian tv channels today... this video allegedly shows what Russians would have seen while channel surfing. (I hope it's true. It's important to get info through to them.)
*May I be the first to congratulate US Cyber Command. :)
Youtube etc. next to axe RT right now. My god if the 5 minutes I saw there were anything to by they were getting ready to go in Ukraine months ago. This stuff doesn't get made over night.
Their interweb is down
Finland's civil legislative initiative gathered 50k votes for "Finland joining NATO". That would put NATO directly at the Russian doorstep. The 50k votes means it must be voted upon by the parliament.
Edit: the above info is only partially correct. Russia already has border with NATO, so the border would be only much longer. Also the initiative is about having a referendum about joining NATO. Thank you for corrections!
Javelins & NLAW's are really working out well. The hamster cage on top the tanks doesn't seem that effective!
Anyone got a good live stream link from Kiev? Was watching the full screen version from the main square last night but can't find it tonight.
Yep I seen that too. You can understand why the protests aren’t bigger. There was a clip on thursday of a russian woman being asked about kiev and she said there is no invasion only peacekeepers in donbass.
treat them like mushrooms is the russian mo.
Russian press is the same. It's all about what's happening in the Donbass region and virtually nothing about Kyiv.
The Ukrainian army must be getting satellite images real time from the Americans etc. of Russian armour and troop movements and that's why there having such a field day on their armour. Plus all the weaponry from the west of the country there getting. Russia could do with some special forces in the forests there attacking them on the roads etc. Just like Ukraine is doing to the Russians. Should of had them in place from the get go. Major mistake on the Russian side that.
I know what's involved Mark, I've worked in these Country's and in these conditions, but if you think that the Russian Military fleet is full of the latest EU mod-cons, heated tanks etc. you would be in for a surprise. And Yes, I've lit fires under both the tanks and the engines. ( I'm aware that petrol does not wax, but petrol engined trucks are a rarity, except in the military ) In sub-zero temps -10 to -20+ I've put 220 Ltr barrels full of diesel in a circle around a fire, and left them there for a few hours to get the diesel warm enough to accept the additive. And I'm speaking about military vehs as well as HGV's. Winter means trouble for transport, and even with top of the line servicing, you can still meet trouble. I never mentioned anything about which is the best season to travel in.....frozen land, ideal for Tanks , spring soft ground, bad for tanks...summer ground is again dry and hard in that part of the world, If I remember right. But right at this point in time, I'd be praying for an early spring, with rain, glorious rain, a full monsoon of it, if that was possible,
Swan Lake by Moscow Ballet in Cork Opera House got cancelled.
I was watching Russia Today for a bit earlier. Everything was about Donbass and Luhansk. They showed the drone footage of the Russians blowing the dam to bring water back to Crimea.
They even said Chernobyl was being jointly held by Russia and Ukraine 😂
Absolutely zip about the bombardments of Kharkiv or the rogue missiles hitting apartment blocks. This is what I would imagine is also going out on Regular Russian TV.
Oil depot. There is a video from a close distance. Hopefully no causalities.
From BBC:
Will his troops go big though? Or is there unease in the ranks?
i thought cultural sporting boycotts only related to state agencies, are any of these ballet companies, state companies/state agencies if not I think it was terrible decision
Anonymous allegedly hacked the Rus TV networks and aired the truth to the Russian people
Problem with this is it is much more likely to end in disaster for the Russians. Thinking they can take a city of 3m people with thousands of high rise buildings in the space of 24 hours seems absolutely bonkers.
I would love to watch the Women of Minsk take revenge for the beatings Lukashenko inflicated on them during last years protests.
Nice to see, but the Russian military numbers 1.1million, while the special police force used to suppress internal protests is about 2.2 million, which tells you what Putin is most afraid of.
The harsh reality is that Putin will have to go big or go home very soon.
Poor quality joke warning: Putin thought Zelensky is a joke.
The info about Tushajew from the Chechen troops got confirmed. Maybe the video was not deep fake.
Latvia Foreign Ministry proposed asylum in the West for Russian soldiers willing to put down weapons.
This really had me going for a minute, even with the heads-up.
It's an oil depot exploding.
They must have upped their benefits for the roadside assistance!
