Money and bloodlust
I would not mind if he was dispatched by one of his own if it means that the invasion and occupation of Ukraine stops now rather than wait years for the Hague.
Money
Slava Ukraina- I’m so proud of them. Complete legends, the definition of bravery and backbone.
Has anyone got any info on the march to the embassy today? Time etc.
I can't find anything online about the Limerick one . Do you have any details about it Dan?
President Zelenskyy addressing the nation now- pleading for people to fight for Ukraine and come into the country. Powerful rallying call. This man is the bravest political leader I’ve seen in years in Europe
As much as I loathe what Putin has ordered his military to do.. and I'm sure that there are some who are gleefully taking on the task.. I don't find downed airplanes full of troops something particularly joyous. It's not a computer game.
God that would be awesome. Just watching the BBC here, seems like the longer Ukraine can hold out and the more heavy losses Russia get , the more likely this will happen. They think Putin really thought the Ukraine people would welcome Russians with open arms as the amount of troops sent in where never enough and many Russian soldiers didn’t think they would be killing Ukrainians.
That’s war for you- it’s them or you. The Russians aren’t innocently visiting Ukraine to see the sights ffs. Live by the sword….
And to think he first made his name as a Ukranian version of Ardal O'Hanlon or Brendan O'Carroll. Although now I think both those guys have political DNA so who knows what the future holds for us...
But those troops, if they had the chance, would have massacred innocent Ukrainians.
They're the invaders - and this is a war; they must go down, every last one of them.
Very sad considering Ukrainian volunteers fought in the battle of Grozny. Probably being stupidly optimistic to hope they do a "braveheart" and switch sides.
well seeing as how Larry king is dead I doubt it.
That would certainly be great, but the chances are unfortunately small.
Yeah that's how war works. We all know that.
But to extend your analogy.. these fools in an airplane aren't the one wielding the sword.. they are a molecule of steel.
The 'hero' wielding the sword gets to wield it from a long way away.
I think the best option is that those soldiers decide to go home and stop fighting, the next best thing is they get shot down before killing Ukrainians.
I don't think anyone finds it joyous that people died, they can be joyous that their friends and family didn't get killed by aggressors however.
Those pearl clutching for russian aggressors should evaluate their life choices that lead them to that point very carefully whether it's trolling or whatever has got them to that point, they have to accept that they're probably not a great example of a human being.
Can't find the link now but I read that Kazakhstan had refused to send troops when Moscow requested it. Surely a sign that they think Putin is on his last legs?
I think in war it’s easy to forget that people are suffering and see deaths as a “win” for one side or the other.
The celebration of a bunch of Russians dieing is prob more so not the celebration of them being killed but the celebration that the Russian invasion has taken a loss/hit.
I think it’s all terrible. The Russian soldiers are effectively pawns in Putins vicious , corrupt, fascist agenda. The Ukrainians are expendable and effectively Putin Is engaging in genocide to wipe out the ones who don’t share his imperialistic goals that he’s set out.
Russia effectively bought out the Chechen independence movement. Warlord Ramzan Kadyrov went from being a sworn enemy of Russia to Putin’s rabid lapdog.
Something similar, but not as extreme, has happened in Belarus. Lukashenko always kept some distance from Russia, and traditionally always expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people and nation. This ended abruptly when he had to go to Putin to save his skin after the uprising provoked by the last fake election.
Ukraine is current feeling the brunt of not following Chechnya and Belarus’ example. Which I guess serves as both a punishment to Ukraine, and a warning to Kadyrov and Lukashenko.
The Chechen involvement is also a propaganda tool and an ominous warning: their fighters are barbaric animals.
Agreed. We also have to hope that whatever replaces him if the above happens is orders of magnitude better than Putin.. a low bar I know, but still.
I have sympathy for the conscripts in the ground forces. I have seen numerous videos of captured ones where they say they were told it was a training exercise and weren't told it was a hostile invasion. It's also obvious they weren't equipped with food and fuel (lots of reports of Russian vehicles abandoned running out of fuel).
I don't have the same level of sympathy for the troops in those planes. They were probably elite forces and would have had clearer information on what they were up to. Also a large number being liquidated is harder for the Russia propaganda machine to hide.
They were on their way to kill Ukrainians!
Russian Cargo ship seized in the English chanel by the French. Just on sky news, I will search for a link.
Zelenskeyy will be immortalised by history, as will that quote. (apparently there should be 2 y's)
Biden is weak. His speech the other night, and his response to this crisis is the context for my saying he is weak. Not my fault if you don't like it. You're free to ignore me. And if you really want to blame past Presidents. Try Obama, his weakness left Russia annex Crimea which paved the way for this invasion.
Yeah I posted this earlier. It's especially surprising as Tokayev needed the aid of Russian troops less than a month ago to stay in power. When a vassal like this suddenly develops a spine something is definitely brewing.
They have their transponders off
The Irish anti war anti imperialism rent a mob, as long as it's an American war and an American empire, are gone awful silent.
We see you.
Limerick is Sunday, Arthur's Quay.
