about 2 and a half weeks from Cormac but I had sheep tags and replacement cattle tags all in the one order. if you're genuinely stuck for them, give them a bell and they might bump you the queue

Do u need to have 2 tags for lambs going to direct to slaughter at this time of year or will one slaughter tag still do?

some thing in my head about having to have all lambs tagged by 12th of December but can’t find the exact detail.

I sent some last week with just one. Only need 2 if the lamb is a year old isnt it?

Neighbour orered the new EID Tags from Mullinahone. He went to tag a calf and realised the old taggers, both types won't do for the EID ones. There is a new type tagger for them. So that's 3 different type of taggers to date.

I have old tags myself still. Is it worth switching to Cormac? Are the tags that much better?

Are you sure about that?? I ordered a couple of single replacement tags from them during the week and I looked at their website to see if I needed a new tagger when I start using the EID tags and there is no mention of it. They advertise three different EID tag readers from €300, €670 and €1136.00 respectively.

Didn't realise that, was too late ordering the old type, so now another tagger 😫 All night uploading pictures for bord bia inspection ( give me the wildest saler/lim cross suckler calving a huge ch bull in the middle of field with hail / sleet pouring down over anything more complicated than logging on here )

You can use the yellow taggers to tag the eid tags. You'd need to put the pin, which is in the handle of the taggers, in each time though and take it out to put in the bvd tag. I just bought a new taggers so I can tag the 2 tags in 1 go.

Had my remote inspection a week or so ago. I started uploading photos a week or so before it. Did a few each evening. The medical records took a good while to upload though

I learnt from a few years ago to order my tags in November. Got them within 2 weeks from Mullinahone.

Are you sure the yellow tagger will tag the EID ones? I tried it with the pin in place and it wouldn't work. He ordered a new one anyway.

Here's the new EID tagger at Mullinahone COOP. It says to remove the blue insert for the new EID tags,

them and asked and the girl sent me this photo

I like the cormac tags, self closing bvd. Sent out a free tagger on first order as well. New calf tags will still take the 3 to 4 weeks this time of year. Replacements tend to be out fast alright. Ringing the department to up the number is a tad annoying alright

Ordered my tags off Cormac in the first week of January. I'd say they came in 2 or 3 weeks. Very happy with Cormac. 5 years and no tag lost yet. 1 taggers which they sent me with my first order 5 years ago. Can I claim a subsidy on the EID tags this year. I read something about it before.

No the new EID tags are different. They are white and wider where they fit into the tagger. I'll get a pic later.

Ye a neighbour feeds a few heifers and any year he always has 1 or 2 that prove incalf, he had 1 calved at Christmas there so he ordered tags 3 weeks ago from Mullinahone & got them last week. Asked me on Saturday to stick them in. Couldn't get the white tag to fit either tagger, so but in the bvd 1 and I have ordered a new tagger. Seen after that you can remove part of the yellow tagger for them but I don't want doing that all the time because it's handy to have the two taggers loaded when you have the calf caught and less chance of mixing up the tags.

Years ago I bought a cow & calf in the mart, when I was bringing out the calf noticed one ear had 26 in it the other had 29, the card I had was 29 but the cows number was different. Such a pain in the ass to get sorted.. the right number was on card 26 but such a job the mart had to explain that to the farmer who bought that pair that they needed the card back plus the lad who sold cows & calves didn't want anything to do with it either. So I am always double checking now to make sure all tags are correct at tagging.

On the yellow bvd taggers take out the yellow plastic piece where the white female tag goes, might need a screw driver

Same with the red non bvd taggers, take blank plastic part

That's the tags I have now. Will try them with the insert in the yellow taggers later. I assume the girl in Mullinahone knew what she was talking about

Same as ordered 1st week January off Cormac & arrived last week. Father would have previously being Mullinahone & I'd say at this stage I've nearly them all replaced with Cormac in last 3 years. Haven't lost a Cormac one yet.

Same problem here yesterday, got old tagger and grinder. Grind at an angle to present the eid tag square to the needle

You have to remove the plastic insert from the sample tagger

What's involved in taking out the yellow plastic insert? Will it fit then?
