Any thoughts on this given the large uptake of vaccination for Covid in Ireland?
No, I'm in Ireland.
If 11pm closing is a 'severe lockdown' then what do you call 8pm closing? Triple-double-severe lockdown?
If certs become permanent that affects everyone negatively, since everyone must basically justify themselves with personal data everywhere they go.
But your ethical viewpoint is the wrong way around..
That's terrible that she's immunocompromised or whatever, but what right does that give anyone to dictate what someone does to their bodies?..
If God forbid someone does have side effects or dies even after being forced into vaccination, does responsibility for that lie with those who forced them into it?..
This is just turning into another bickering thread. 'Selfish' etc.
Do the anti-un-vaccinated have to unload their bile on every thread, can they not just discuss the topic?
I think many people are deluding themselves. Sweden the country that was going to let it rip is now heading for a more severe lockdown. While we are lifting testing for travellers arriving from abroad, Sweden is reimposing them.
COVID will be with us for another while. It's all very well to say because we have a high percentage of vaccination that we can let other off the hook. A huge section of the population has done the heavy lifting.
While I do not advocate mandatory vaccination, I do think society has a right to protect itself. If you are not vaccinated then making it impossible to go to matches, enter restaurants, pubs, cinemas, theatres etc is not unreasonable.
It looks like other countries are going to introduce rules like this or mandatory vaccination. We already see a hard line being taken by other countries. It only a matter of time before infection certs will not be acceptable unless backed up.by a vacvination history
Lack of information? You can't be serious.
You must be one of the lucky ones who got Covid and lived to tell the tale.
Good luck to you, but there is no getting away from the fact that you have freeloaded on those who did take the vaccine. Congratulations on being one of the most selfish persons I have ever met.
I think mandatory vaccination will exacerbate the housing crisis by further reducing the workforce of (Central and Eastern European) construction labourers.
I don't see what your extremely bitter comments have to do with the thread. The discussion is about mandatory vaccination, not about how unvaccinated people existing makes you feel angry.
When my next vaccine is due I'll show up. There's always a few people who will kick and scream rather than do what's good for society, be it vaccines or the rules of the road. Some don't like being told what to do, and I get that, but the current crisis has people going online, finding like-minded loons, and concocting bullshit conspiracies. Then genuine people, who are just easily led, end up believing said internet bullshit and the rumour-mill takes over and spreads it like.. a virus. A stupid virus.
What's wrong with that and what they said or did a grifter on Twitter scare you?
Do you watch the weather forecast with such skepticism?
If the vaccines worked someone else's vaccination status shouldn't matter..
You might find yourself unvaccinated and barred from all of those places soon enough if and when the definition of fully vaccinated changes.
In Germany, for example, the Health Minister is talking about vaccines being developed for variants for what appears to be forever:
“If we get a variant that is as contagious as Omicron, but significantly more deadly, we should be able to develop and produce a vaccine in a very short time,” Lauterbach said.
The government was already preparing for this eventuality to create a system whereby vaccines could be provided at speed at any moment in the event of serious new outbreaks, he said."

Nah, they're just selfish pricks. They know it, people who know them know it, even if they say nothing. I don't think it's fair for people who make a little effort to protect society to suffer just because a few plague rats won't lift a finger. There are genuine reasons some can't get the vaccine, why should they stay at home just so the **** can go have some fun? Exclude them, they're not people who can be trusted anyway.
The safest person to sit beside on a plane the last two years has been a vax-free person as they always needed to be tested. Likewise, it’s the vaccinated who have been spreading it in pubs and clubs and cafes.
I am vax-free and have just returned from travelling in Europe. You will never decide where I can or cannot travel; and certainly not on the basis of pseudoscience.
Why do you care so much about what's happening in this country? Don't you live in the UK and pay for your groceries in Sterling?
Then you are a bad person.
I don't think it's right to force anyone to have the vaccine. I do however have no problem with them being excluded from pubs, clubs, food places, gyms, gigs and any other large organised public events. It's also important to keep them off flights.
Fines. Loss of job. Loss of welfare payment.
Irish rangers wouldn't be needed.
If you read my post, they either have to be vaccinated or have demonstrated immunity (through a bloodtest).
Journalists generating clickbait. The irish army rangers are not going to be holding you down for an injection.
I am vaccinated but I am against this. I say if they do hopefully they do not but if they do some how make it mandatory that we all protest against it like the water protests of years ago.
EMA is though, I included both for thoroughness as some people point to the FDA as the authority on medicine safety.
The FDA isn't relevant to Europe.
Why? If its the truth what's the problem?
worth a read regardless of your vax state.
With good reason if you spread misinformation.
Also allowed them to put the 8PM closing time on the long finger.
Seems about right..
There aren't. One can choose not to be a Garda.
