This question goes out those who took the 2 jabs? Will you you take it to get back to normality? Or are you sick of the government moving the goalposts constantly?
Push for booster in 20-40 age group to take place next week. Lack of booster enthusiasm in over 30s.
The lack of enthusiasm for a booster has been long predicted once you come down below 40. Given that the number of the under 30s remain unvaccinated points to there being even lower numbers there. If cases fall away fast that may also slow down the uptake even more. Still reckon 70% on boosters will be a good achievement.
Do you believe that vaccines have killed 2 people for every person saved from a COVID death? (per the opinion of the person you're posting about).
I'll withhold judgement on that until we see numbers of deaths for last year..
(I do actually know more people adversely affected by it than have had bad covid..)
Why are we giving people boosters if the FDA voted 16-2 against them?..
But that guy has the numbers, do you not trust him? If so why are you quoting him? 2 vaccine deaths for every life saved is a huge claim to be making.
What exactly did the FDA vote against, boosters have been approved for all over the age of 12 and allowed for 3rd doses in the 5-11 age group:

Got my booster ... purely cos I want to go to Holland for the tennis tournament next month.
Quick question i got my booster in mid December & have yet to receive my booster pass,
Today i got a text from the HSE to say i should go get my booster but already did in my Gp's
I'm so torn over this, double jabbed since last august or sept felt crap after one of the doses and now worried about people getting heart issues, it's not having any effect on the spread either i'm feeling more and more like a guinea pig as the days go by. Anyone else in their 40's feeling this way ? I will probably do it eventually but don't see the need to rush so soon after my second jab.
You should probably contact your GP. I got my cert last week by email and got booster in GP, original vaccines in MVC.
I think I touched on this in one of the other threads, but I've been flip-flopping on this for a few weeks now. Actually really struggled with all of the pros and cons
I don't agree with vaccine passes or mandatory vaccination for Covid. If the vaccines were considerably more effective at reducing transmission and were the disease considerably more deadly - think Ebola or Rabies - then I would probably reconsider my stance. But that isn't the case and with Omicron, even less so. When I took the vaccine the certs didn't exist. I've asked myself 'If I take the booster am I condoning them somehow ?' I could just not use my cert I guess. But on the flip side I've done nothing wrong so why should I exclude myself further from society. Nobody will care about my silent protest. It won't change anything. I'm entitled (yes entitled, not privileged) to go for a drink or eat in a restaurant or watch a new film. I'm in my boxroom Mon-Fri 9-5. It's a lonely life already without further denying myself socialisation.
I truly respect anyone's decision not to get a vaccine or booster. Some people in this subset are clearly anti-vax - my ex-husband being one of them. He's so far down the rabbit hole he's beyond rescuing. I count my blessings every night that I haven't had to endure this pandemic still living under the same roof. Other people have softer and less radical reasons. Previous bad experience. Had the virus early on and not scared of it. Believe their immune system is capable, nay preferable, to tackle covid over vaccines. The mRNA element is daunting for some people. It's not untrue to say that it's a new technology and has never been used in vaccines before. I'm in this camp based purely on gut instinct and nothing more. You could argue these reasons are illogical and not rational. Well that's because we're not Vulcans. We're human and we make irrational, heartfelt and just plain silly decisions every day.
We have one of the highest uptakes in Europe. We have basically knocked it out of the park. Yet still we live with restrictions. What's the point in a booster if the vax didn't get us our freedom day?
But all this aside - I really don't want to get sick or have a bad dose of Covid. If I'm the one in a million who has a bad reaction to the booster and it kills me off, then I guess that's my destiny. None of us is getting out of this (life) alive.
At the end of the day all I'm agreeing to is one more vaccine. Not selling my soul to the devil
TLDR: Yes after a vast amount of overthinking.
Is it?
"European Union regulators warned that frequent Covid-19 booster shots could adversely affect the immune response"
Hmm... this is like saying dont take any paracetamol because it is dangerous to exceed the recommended dose.
You dont quote the actual article which is a clue that you may be deliberately misrepresenting its contents.
I assume if you place such reliance on the EMA you will take an annual winter booster?
Boosters “can be done once, or maybe twice, but it’s not something that we can think should be repeated constantly,” Marco Cavaleri, the EMA head of biological health threats and vaccines strategy, said at a press briefing on Tuesday...
Repeat booster doses every four months could eventually weaken the immune response and tire out people, according to the European Medicines Agency. Instead, countries should leave more time between booster programs and tie them to the onset of the cold season in each hemisphere, following the blueprint set out by influenza vaccination strategies, the agency said.
"European Union regulators warned that frequent Covid-19 booster shots could adversely affect the immune response" is an exact quote from the article.
Ah yes these tennis tournaments are always a great reason to get vaccinated
Except you are lying by deliberately misrepresenting 'frequent' to mean no boosters should be given.
True or false: The EMA endorse 3rd dose boosters.
Answer up or admit you are using weasel words.
Quoting an article isn't using "weasel words", not least since the poster also linked the article the quote is from.
I'd suggest that few people are afflicted with the inability to parse the word "frequent", and fewer yet would take "frequent boosters could adversely affect the immune system" to mean "boosters bad in general". Seems to be a distinctly you problem.
okay so my original point, earlier in this thread, was that I was planning to wait til March or thereabouts to get the booster, and several people questioned my judgement.
Personal motivations to get vaccinated has never mattered. Being able to travel or to have a social life are commonly quoted reasons for it. With the original certs expiring from about the end of next month you can expect to see a lot more of that if we persist with them.
”If we persist with them”?, has there been any indication that Covid Cert policy will be discarded domestically or for travel? I think any protest related to certs will fall on deaf ears.
Yes I certainly will!
Nobody will guess at that but the domestic ones should be gone by the Spring. The ones for Europe at least, IMO, depend more on the vaccinations levels of other countries and the prevalence of COVID so we could be stuck with them well into summer and beyond or until it does become part of the rest of the background viruses we meet.
Got my booster on Tuesday but im in bits ever since tbh.
Had no reaction to the first, a little bit of a reaction to the second but this one has knocked me for 6. Woke up yesterday morning with a sick stomach, aches and pains everywhere and a thumping headache. Was out on site yesterday morning and for some bizarre reason when i put on a wolly hat my head started throbbing altogether. Git home at lunchtime and took an hour off to conk out on the couch.
Arm is still sore which is grand but bizarelly so is my chest on that side, never had a reaction like this before to any vaccines or anything.
it would be a hard sell - many in the age group took the vaccine for niteclubs and a social life. The government may ignore that and claim they weren't linked. But we all know that group were lied to . the niteclubs opened for 3 weeks.
fool them twice and all that....
Yep!
Hi Kelt
How are you feeling today did the sickness last long ?
Until this morning really if I’m being honest.
Sick stomach and headache, funny but never had this reaction to any of the other vaccines
And I’m one of them. Simply no interest getting it. Got the first two in august as I assumed they actually worked to some degree. Felt like shite for a few days. Again no interest in feeling that way again in the middle of winter. For me it’s the side effects putting me off. Horrible fever like symptoms aren’t good for your body.
ive no doubt many feel like me and I’m expecting a big scary govt onslaught - it’s already begun with a “to prevent serious illness” get your booster now text from the regime the other day. Disgraceful how they can use your number like this but I’m sure that was in the small print last somber when I got “vaccinated” twice the first time.
That’s exactly how I feel. The side effects are being brushed off as “nothing to worry about it”. Sorry, for me that just isn’t enough. Fever and other symptoms for a day or two cannot be good for you no matter how much it’s minimised. Also double jabbed since August and no “anti vaccer” whatsoever here. Have had all my shots since childhood, got vaccinated for travel etc
Speaking of effects:
Mild: "To a health care professional, 'mild' means you're not getting hospitalized," said Megan Ranney, academic dean at the Brown University School of Public Health."
https://www.axios.com/what-mild-really-means-when-it-comes-to-omicron-f808e5ba-5655-4ac5-b057-4afe3b0aa860.html
Me too I have no interest whatsoever and they can keep texting me. Soon enough I am going to be segregated from society and seen as an anti-vaxer. I still having the side effects from the first two with my arm, so don't want to make it worse than it already is. Pfizer saying they have a vaccine ready by March for Omicron variant so never ending.
