Commission proposal for a common vaccination card/passport for EU citizens
The ultimate goal of a vaccination passport would be to ensure that children who move between countries with different immunisation schedules do not miss out on crucial vaccinations. A similar scheme is already in place for pets and has helped boost vaccination rates, according to the European Commission.
Flagged up before Christmas and agreed upon at EU level recently that a new cert would be needed for travel, at least they're (the government) getting the finger out before the 1st and issuing them in advance. Will solve the issues a few posters have mentioned on the travel thread that are going to France or Austria for example and need proof of booster on their cert.
Not just travel. They’ll be needed for pubs and restaurants here too. Covid certs are looking like being part of everyday life for the foreseeable future.
Legislation will be needed for that.
So for the moment here, yes for travel only.
It’ll be interesting to see how it’s managed by gov, booster uptake surely won’t be as high as 93% and if the virus retreats over the next few months it will be a hard sell to hospitality and the public.
I think it'll get pretty close to be honest, mainly because of the international travel aspect, that I don't think is going anywhere any time soon and people quickly get fed up paying for tests.
Thats really **** that there is no system in place for those who cannot get vaccinated. I hope that a doctors note will just do the job and can use that to enter restaurants until an official cert is given.
My fiancee got a blood clot, her mum had a brain aneurism (luckily they caught it in time and she's fine) and her cousin went 60% deaf in one ear, all since getting the vaccine. I got mine and feel fine, but I did notice that since I got it, the right side of my head seems more congested, and even get some weird ear rumble in the mornings after waking up, almost like tinnitus.
I believe in the vaccine and will get my booster eventually, but in the case of my fiancee, her mum and cousin, they all don't want to get a booster, or even the 2nd vaccine in my fiancees case, purely because the things they went through are too coincidental with the vaccine. In these sort of cases I think a medical exemption cert should be issued, really hope they hurry on with it.
They are very reluctant to let go of the whole covid cert thing despite how ineffective it is. Omicron spreading like mad everywhere what harm is a few more plane loads of infected folk going to do?
They can fook of with their certs, I've had my vaccine. Enough is enough.
Anybody boosted get an email with their updated DCC by pdf tonight ?
Have the original on the phone with the Covid tracker app but does not appear to be functionality to upload this new bit to it ...maybe they won't be .

There should be no certs full stop regardless of the reason.
Did anyone get an updated digital cert yet?, they were supposed to be issued from last night but nothing in my inbox this morning, hopefully they are being issued in batches - would be nice to hear that's the case and some have received.

How are elderly people who were vaccinated by gp and not asked to supply email address to receive their new cert? My mother's over 9 months since second dose so will need the booster update for travel in a couple of weeks.
I received a new certificate this morning by email. Scanned the QR code with the camera and got a message "No usable data found".
Then used the QR scan and got just gobbledygook and lines of code.
In the Covid App, delete the existing cert and scan in the new QR code, and it updates everything.

Why is the date on them in US format, are all EU countries using this?

My mother got her original cert by post, presume she'll get the booster cert the same way.
Just watch them having to reissue the certs again because they're not according to the EU standard... Or more likely, not doing anything about it but people having trouble with the certs when traveling because the officials in other countries complain about the weird date format.
The original cert had dates in yy-mm-dd format. When scanned into the covid tracker app, the vaccination date converted to dd-mmm-yyyy
Question - I just got my recovery cert, do I actually need it for anything? I thought I could just put it in the Covid Tracker App like I did with my vaccination cert, but I don't see an option for it. Should I be using my recovery cert instead of my vaccination cert for entering restaurants/bars now instead, or can I just continue using my vaccination cert? I got my second shot in August, but no booster as I wasn't in the age bracket before I caught covid.
Ah, I see! No problem then. And in any case, even if it would have had the wrong format, I doubt it would have caused problems most of the time because it's probably recorded correctly when they read the QR code. It's just that I know a few countries where you always seem to run into the most officious people behind the desk that are very particular about details. Pardon my satirical mind rushing into exaggeration at times.
I received mine this morning, deleted the old one and uploaded the new cert.
It now says I am partially vaccinated, because I have received two, not three shots. However my first vaccine was Janssen so I am supposedly fully vaxed.
anyone know how I fix this so it says I am fully vaccinated?
For those Irish living abroad, and provided proof to get an EU DCC, the booster cert is only available to people who have been vaccinated in Ireland. No date on when that might change.
Huh? Surely they’ll get an updated cert in whichever EU country they’re living in?
