Anyone know what is his medical exception?
You're right, they are refusing him entry. He is appealing it though and I won't be surprised if he wins the appeal and is allowed into Australia but has to quarantine like other unvaccinated people entering Australia. The reason his visa was denied seems to be because it doesn't allow for a medical exemption. Without the medical exemption he has a valid visa so pardon the pun but the ball with possibly be in Djokovic's court...he may be given the choice to enter quarantine for 14 days or get on the plane.
well, no. if he doesn't meet the requirements of the visa he obtained he will be turned around.
Tennis Elbow.
Sorta like this.
There's really no excuse for ignorance.
If ever there were a case when the authorities were right and were too lenient on the celebs, it's that one.
You might not like Australia's strict quarantine rules, but Australia has never had a case of rabies or foot-and-mouth and various other diseases and takes bio-security very seriously, which is it's right.
Smuggling your pooch into the country because you have a private jet and are rich and famous isn't on.
The 14 day quarantine alternative is a bit of a red herring. Sure, it's there in the rules for entry to the country (and the state of Victoria) if you're unvaccinated, but Djokovic didn't try to enter under that clause, he tried to enter under the medical exemption to being vaccinated, which he now doesn't seem to be able to prove.
14 days stuck in a hotel room isn't going to be a viable option for an elite athlete just before a wold class tournament - no tennis court, no gym, no going outside, no visitors. Given his stance, he'd hardly put himself though all that just to compete - and possibly forfeit his first match anyway, depending in the schedule. I'd say he'd rather be a martyr that gets deported than agree to 14 days locked in a room that give him a clear disadvantage in terms of preparation and a big psychological advantage to his opponents.
Meh….they’re entitled to hold whatever views and opinions they want to. People aren’t “ignorant” because they’ve reached a different conclusion to you.
if their conclusion is that 5g causes covid then they are ignorant. they haven't reached a conclusion. they are repeating nonsense from elsewhere that they don't understand.
I think on appeal he may be given the choice of accepting the terms of the visa, dropping the medical exemption and accepting quarantine or getting on a plane home but as Gregor said he is unlikely to accept quarantine, but that will be his decision.
Well we all know that.
Just another self entitled guy who happens to be very talented at a sport and now thinks everyone should fall at his feet.
And in his case the apple doesn't fall far from the tree as the parents don't exactly appear the nicest either.
Wasn't this the country that stopped and searched the PM of their neighbour when they arrived in the country?
Also they decided that they wouldn't throw out the welcome mat for migrants arriving on boats.
They solved the issue unlike the rest of the western world who just encouraged it, which has ended up with more smugglers and undoubtedly more deaths.
Aussies don't like people who think they are entitled.
No, all opinions aren't equally valid.
Jelena Djokovic's Tweet contemplating that Covid 19 is caused by 5G isn't just reaching, or exploring, a different conclusion. It's ignorance of reality. There's no two ways about it.
He will get the same treatment as any other visitor. Morrison made that clear. ABF don't give you a choice.
Serbia is not a dictatorship and in Western countries it used to be the case that you gave informed consent for a medical procedure. The French President saying he will 'torment' people and the Victorian government putting the whole region in a state of siege is what is Soviet-like.
Loads of fans adore him all over the world.
Yeah you're right. His visa was cancelled so it would mean applying for a new visa and then going into quarantine if it was granted. I think he'll be on a plane early next week as the appeal has been adjourned until Monday.
You are wrong. Serbia is a dictatorship. I worked for the UN during the breakup of Yugoslavia and you are not too inclined to get a vaccination so you’re opinion is one of gombeenism.
Any connection to this?
Its almost as if the Australian government are trying to humiliate Djokovic and make an example out of him.He wouldn't have been allowed to fly there in the first place if his visa wasn't right they must've revoked it mid flight once they heard about Djokovic getting the medical exemption and all the backlash. He probably doesn't want risk of a heart attack from the vaccines many athletes having problems . Anyone who is against Djokovic is part of the problem there should be freedom of choice in the first place , not forced to take a vaccine or even the need to have apply for a medical exemption . He's healthy fit being treated like a criminal. It's horrible I hope he holds the line speaks out about this tyranny afterwards. If they can do that to him they do the same if not worse to it's own citizens.

People are entitled to hold whatever opinions they want, but someone in the public eye should not be pedaling bullshyte that can cause unforeseen medical complications for others.
People are fooking ignorant if they believe a lot of the fooking conspiracies being pedaled these days, mainly via social media.
Actually in a way part of me hopes that all these conspiracy theory, anti science loons get covid and do the human race gene pool a massive favour.
The problem with the modern world is that we have removed almost all of the things that would have naturally weeded out the idiots.
what does that have to do with australia?
As a scientist his opinion is ignorant and insulting.
And that's not an opinion but a provable fact.
5G = Covid people are plain idiots and there is no differing of opinion on this one.
No sane person can believe that a virus can be carried on an electronic wave
He’s still entitled to his opinion no matter how highly you regard yourself.
.He wouldn't have been allowed to fly there in the first place if his visa wasn't right
that is not true. airlines have no way of deciding that you have met the conditions of a visa.
Was in Bosnia in 1995, so know all about Soviet attitudes.
Funny when the abortion referendum was being pushed on everyone it was argued your body your choice. Seems that doesn't apply here. Personally i'm fully vaccinated but i respect the choice of others not to do so, but they must also realize there is consequences. Calling him names is childish, as is stating well i'm a scientist or i worked there so i know attitude.
if somebody thinks that 5G causes covid then they are an idiot. there is no way of getting around that.
He is entitled to his opinion, but others are entitled, hell are mandated through facts and common sense to say it is fooking rubbish.
And the Aussies are entitled to tell him to fook off.
Why is there this modern view that all opinions must be held in the same regard?
In your opinion. You don't need to resort to childish name calling though, for all you know he has a genuine medical issue. But i agree the Aussies are perfectly entitled to do as they like, i did say there would be consequences to his choices.
