I think it was Roisin Shorthall that originally put this forward, all the opposition parties in Ireland are basically socialist now. MUP is straight out of the socialist handbook of Big Government and the Nanny state. The healy raes and the rural alliance are the only voices in the Dail opposing these Nanny state measures (although not in this instance as this will benefit the rural pub marginally) . They were the only opposition to the Carbon budget stuff and also to the Nphet restrictions regarding hospitality. Sinn Fein and the socialist parties have not opposed any of this stuff
Probably not tomorrow morning, but I would expect them to gradually increase prices to ensure they are selling at a sufficient premium compared to the "cheap" stuff .

Cans of Dunnes own brand larger was selling for 30 cent a can this evening. Overnight this will go up 500 per cent in price.
I think it's more likely that overnight any remaining stock will be binned.
More than likely it'll be put up 500%, then when it's wasted on the stock sheet when it's out of date they'll have a nice tax write off. Retailers are the winners here in all of this

Friend picked me up 6 of the 5.99 pinot grigio rosé in Aldi that I love. Said there were loads of deals on beers and spirits in Aldi but Lidl appeared to have pulled all their cheap spirits off the shelves, they were stacked in crates that were not accessible. No deals on beers there either

The example I was reading about was Galahad a cheap beer from aldi 12 cans minimum price will jump from 8.79 to 18.93....i can't see a premium or craft beer pricing it's product at the same price as a multipack of Galahad (which some might be close to now)...why would they? They can get more.
Branded prices (and "promo" prices) will rocket definitely.... they already have in Tesco!
Which is why Aldi and all the other supermarkets have been selling off their budget own-brand booze. Rather than massively increasing the price, they'll simply disappear from the market.
I hope everyone filled their cupboards with beer, wine and spirits over the last few months.

Tesco have some big increases going well above MUP for stuff that was previously under it.
A 2L of olde english cider is 8euro when it could be 7.10. Rosies dew is 2.50 for a can when it could be 2.17
