Don't know. I picked two up on lidl Dublin Road, Limerick.
Budweiser was 15 in my local Aldi on the 30th. Plenty in my local that day but most likely sold out.
Kathy Dalys at Kilaloe back in the day.
Anyone have any luck on the last Guinness slabs in Dublin?
For anyone still searching for cheap slabs, Supervalu have an offer that ends today;
Supervalu in Tulla County Clare have the Budweiser and Guinness slabs. No Bulmers slabs left.
Not saying they stock still in every store, but maybe worth checking them out.
Local Dunnes in Galway Terryland was fairly cleared out there now. All the crates & slabs are pretty much gone. Still some decent offers on random drinks though.
And there is still plenty of wine. Anyone know roughly what the new MUP will be for the 7e/8e/9e bottles of wine?
Centra selling 12 pack cans of Guinness for 10e each but I assume it will be like the rest and only limited stock available depending on store.
Got 2 packs in Ballindine last night.
My Dunnes had a lot in reduced to clear, some were damaged stock. Got 14 guinness for 5, 8 guinness for 4.25, 4 lagunitas daytime for 2, 20 coors light bottles for 6.75, 5 cans of staropramen for 1.75.
They also had 8 cans of tuborg for 2. Made me think, what are they going to do with damaged stock from now on? Can't sell it off cheap.
Also they won't be able to sell off stock going out of date at a reduced price.
This will probably lead to more a conservative approach when it comes to stocking less popular lines especially in smaller stores.
Less choice for the consumer.
Good point. Similar issue with 'approaching/out-of-date' stock and slow moving lines. Can't be sold off cheap any longer.
I guess the extra wastage costs will be more than covered by the extra profit MUP will bring.
Internally, they'll probably have to be better at stock control/rotation to avoid these issues.
Might also make it slightly more difficult to being a new product to market, though 'sale or return' is probably already used anyway for the bulk of those new brands like the independent brewers or IPAs. But 'price it high and reduce it to scrap prices if needed' is no longer an option. Ditto with introducing a new product at a temporary low price to undercut the market.
Lidl
4x 500ml cans Prazsky Lager half price at €2.50
(presumably because its priced on the wrapper at €5. I don't know why they didn't just take the wrappers off and sell them at full price but ours not to wonder why only grab and buy 🙂)
Yeah just got centra done-loads of €10/12 pack deals,Guinness,heino,carls etc €14 for 18 miller(nice cold😏).Got 3 boxes-could have got 33-loads of stock there.That's it for me-have loads,was fun while it lasted
Just after cleaning out Dunnes Ennis of their stock of Guinness West Indies @ €2 a pop. Won't find it that cheap again. ☹️
€2.37 isn’t too bad compared to increases in others
Aldi has no slabs.
Carlsberg 20x300ml €12
Budweiser 20x300ml €15
20 of the Bud in Aldi Oranmore less than 10 boxes of Carlsberg.
None.
It simply is not worth the time and effort.
Option 1 - email order to wholesalers, have it delivered, have invoice emailed so that vat can be claimed back and automatic payment by direct debit.
Option 2 - search what shops have what deals. Visit Various shops and select what you need. Into trolley, queue at checkout, put into car, drive to pub, unload car, make sure receipt is kept, keep records of what card was used. Repeat time after time every week.
There may be one or two that waste time like that, but it is just one or two
Anyone know how much a beer of 5% will cost after the min pricing comes in please?
I presume you need a drink licence to buy from a wholesaler? I have my own business so if it was possible to try use that then I would.
also does anyone know how to get a Tesco uk club card?
depending on size
330/500
1.30/1.98
Have followed that up with cleaning out Harvey's Quay now too! 😁
Lidl here has few slabs bulmers at €20
picked up couple
there was only few slabs carlsberg left at €15
nothing else on offer ,
the own brand spirits were full price
Will craft beers be affected much? According to the calculator I'd say no.
That €9.99 Valpolicella Ripasso in Aldi was half-price last June. Made sure to stock up well at the time!
Won't happen again now though.
looking at the "new" pricing is a bit stark for the beers stouts and lagers, but there's still plenty of scope for bargains on spirits and wines.
we'll all be charming men and women by this time next year
I would think so.
The cheap stuff will go up in price to almost the level of a reasonable craft beer...so I think craft beer will go up as well.
Went up to lidl for a final bargain hunt. Got a box of Heineken for 15 and a box of carlsburg for 12, not mad about either but the wife drinks them. Brings the total to about 15 slabs, was aiming for around 25 but so be it . Should see us through the next few months
54 bottles of my favourite Aldi/Lidl wines in the €5 price range, would expect it to last most of the year.
Two 1000ml bottles of Morgan spiced, again should be the full year.
Didn't bother with beer much (about 30 cans of the Lidl Perlenbacher) as tend to be far less disciplined here, opening another can is just too easy. Will try to save some until Super Bowl Sunday but who knows.
For those thinking about going over the border to make a profit for next year. Tesco and Sainsbury in Newry have raised the prices of their litre bottles of Captain Morgan, Gordens Gin, Smirnoff Vodka and various brands of Scotch from £16 to £20.50. As usual the media have just joined in but they really should read this forum for the lastest news. Rediculous comments.
I'll be heading North 4 times a year anyway stocking up on slabs. What is happening in this country is just the typical groups with vested interests getting their own way. The ordinary man and woman getting screwed to the pin of their collar as usual. You'd be sick of it. No doubt the price of a pint will go up by 5-10cent in most shops. It's a joke of a countrywe are in. No worse than the UK or Spain etc for drinking but as usual we are treated like bold children.
