Why is there no PCR tests available?

Why is there no appointments available on the HSE website anywhere in the country?

I have selected every county and not one appointment is available

I recognize they are busy... But surely they should of seem this coming for them to expand services to cope with demand.

What else are they not managing right..

Scroungers? They both work and pay their fair share of taxes.

Both got a very mild experience of the Covid19 so they did.

Looking forward to having a pint with them next weekend, indoors. I'll have my Covid Cert and they'll have their proof of immunity. Win-Win!

You should go, The PCR will still detect you had COVID-19 recently. You'll get a COVID-19 recovery certificate which can may be handy if you ever need to travel abroad. You could for example 3 months down the road fail a PCR test before a flight , with a recovery cert you can do an antigen test instead of a PCR.

Finally got my txt from hse with appointment that was sent in from doctor. No point going now at this stage as its 8 days since I asked for it. Kids still not showing any symptoms and we've been isolating since before Xmas. Gazillion negative antigen tests between the household.

If this happens again when I'm back to work though I'm not sure what will happen.

If they show any symptoms (asmatic daughter with constant coughs) they will be sent home from creche -this was a pain in the hole but once we would get the negative pcr they could go back.

What we are going to do if we have to wait another 8 days for test and 2 for results every time they get a cough or sniffle. We will both be sacked at that rate

My husband has been sick in bed for 3 days and has tested positive on antigen. According to caredoc 48 hours ago he was put on a referral list for PCR test but as of now no sign of a test appointment.

Relative waited 5 days trying online for PCR. Eventually gp referred, but was initially not helpful. Got appointment for 5 days later.

Still waiting on results 59 hours later.

Thanks, that's the ones I was using, even have a few boxes for the future - so may not have even had Covid

Its a total s**tshow at this stage. My friend is 4 days waiting for PCR test. She has tested positive on antigen + is sick in bed so she must have it.

However her partner won't be paid/ classed as a close contact for work purposes unless he can show proof of pcr that she has it.

See this is the joke government hasn't sorted out.

I took comfort from my OH testing positive on one brand and it being confirmed by PCT

I tested negative on this brand for 12 days while he continually tested positive after the PCR result for 8 days and then negative

I do think if a positive antigen causes people to limit their interaction its a good thing tbh

A brand producing many false positives was identified from follow up pcr tests.

It's harder to identify a brand that could be producing a lot of false negatives and people assuming they're not infected.

So many are relying on these tests that have many limitations.

I have had four positive antigen tests in consecutive days with the Genrui brand including today. I have just received my PCR test results back and it’s negative. This brand must be removed from the shelves immediately. Sold in Dunnes and Lidl. I am not the only one in my wider family either. Shambles

There is a problem with one particular brand that seems to generate a lot of false positives

I know a good few people who have tested positive (some tested positive twice) on antigen, but negative when they got the pcr. I really don't trust antigen tests.

Completely agree - At this stage I think I have more chance of winning the lotto than getting a PCR test. I have been checking the website at 12am and every half hour as suggested and have had no luck. We are close contacts and cant get a test through the booking system for close contacts either. I know several other people who are having the same issue. Yet the HSE is saying all is grand - its not.

The exact problem was there before Christmas.I was trying to book a PCR for my child 2 days before Christmas and the same madness was going on...12am attempts to book, no texts arriving to confirm the slots so losing the appointments, no appointments available all day.Her only crime was going to school.It is not just due to the Christmas Day.

You'll be delighted then to know that I got two unvaxxed neighbours PCR tests for today. If their results are positive - which they expect - then they won't need a vaccine cert going forward into 2022, they'll be thrilled with that.

The whole problem with the PCR testing is the governments insistence on it being used to extend the Covid-Cert.

Lots of people wouldn't bother requiring an "official" result if it wasn't for the Covid-Cert as an antigen would suffice. The social welfare crowd leaving it late in the day to accept antigen results caused another level of demand.

That's fair enough and as I sadi a lot of people got it through no fault of they own.

But a lot went about their usual business not caring about giving or getting covid and are now giving out on Facebook that they can't get a test and have to isolate etc etc.

Sorry if that annoys you but it's the truth.

Person responsibility is something a lot of people lack in this country.

we ve probably become infected from those that took many precautions, from daily antigens, masks, hand cleaning etc etc, this variant is extremely transmissible, i think its inevitable that most will be infected at some stage now, till this is over
