That's exactly what I thought, and ETH has been talking of moving away from GPUs for ages at this stage and it still hasn't happened.
Many of them. The changes in Ethereum won't bring any relief, miners will just move to the other coins.
Are there other profitable GPU mined currencies?
Ether is moving from mining in the next few months so maybe?
I've always build my pcs since buying my first dell back in 2005 and struggling to upgrade. After that I always built my own. But this time around PC specialist were only coming in about €50 more than buying the parts off amazon so I went with them.
Plus afterwards I upgraded to the 3080 which I got for €950.
Just looking and it looks like prices have gone up again.
And FYI..the semiconductor supply chain issue is going to last till early to mid 2023. Forget about getting cheaper components for 2022 because its not going to happen.
Was looking at possibly using pcspecialist this year, if your looking at building anything high end they are actually very competitive Vs buying parts at the moment.
Yeah I'm using it nearly exclusively instead of my 1080ti rig at the moment, finding it fantastic, only downfall is the games list really.
One thing I found about buying from the custom build company was that for a complete newbie to gaming and high spec tech it was all made very easy, well explained, compatibilities pointed out, and lots of set-up info given to avoid any silly newbie pitfalls. It was assumed I knew little or nothing and everything went very smoothly with emails sent to update me in progress of build, shipment, etc. It went exceptionally smoothly with no hiccups whatsoever.
Ya to be fair their prices are usually just about what you could build it for yourself these days, just pity those prices are all inflated
Compared to what?
If anyone is waiting for products to become available at MSRP range, the waiting might be very very long. Think Ice Age kind of timeline: the asteroid has hit 2 years ago, and the winter has just begun.
Yeah expensive, but the service is superb for anyone who doesn’t want headaches.
PC Specialist and the other custom building sites are still far too expensive in my opinion
I seemed to have been very lucky with my fairly recently full custom gaming pc build from PC Specialist seeing how long people are in queues to be able to purchase a high spec GPU. I ordered a full build with 3060Ti in October, delivered 4 weeks later.
Been messing with Geforce Now 3080 over the Christmas after getting my internet sorted. Its very impressive once you have decent broadband. Im playing games on high settings on the worst laptop you could imagine. Its definitly putting me off upgrading my PC. If they could only increase the games that are compatibly it would be unreal.
Depends on the cooler but they should be fine.
3080 Ti is not worth price & power consumption premium over 3080 IMHO
Either card is nearly 2x as performant as a 2070 Super.
Where did you get it? Looking for one too, they are thin on the ground on all sites I have seen.
I managed to get a 3060Ti this morning after searching heavily the last 4 days. Paid over RRP obviously but not scalper prices off an irish local supplier to so I am happy enough.
Can anyone tell me if an Evga 3080 or 3080ti are any good?
I currently have a Zotar 2070 Super for FS2020.
okay this geforce now 3080 is some sort of magic, cyberpunk is definitely running at 60fps if not more (cant confirm as theres no in build fps counter) at 1440p ultra ray tracing settings, is a 3080 supposed to be able to do that? and the lag is non existent. I'm sold.
That sucks, hopefully fixes quick for you
Using EU West all of the time but unplayable at the moment. My internet that usually gives me 55mbps has reduced to about 15mbps over the last few days.
I've used the priority tier for the last month and it's great tbh, I use rocket league to benchmark latency and it's perfect. Be interesting to see if the increased fidelity/resolution from a 3080 will cause anything.
I'm really curious about the latency, last time I tested one of these with M&K even if there were plenty of fps there was a "mushy" feeling in the controls.
Activated today, actually looking forward to testing it out vs my local 1080ti machine. What server you using glebee?
Mine is as well. Although my internet is gone to pot since the storm..:(
Ye, its a pity the games list is not stronger.
My geforce now 3080 subscription is starting tomorrow, it's one way to use a new generation of GPU 🙂, only wish the games list was better.
I'd say this is probably because they can sell whatever they can make, and 2060 is now cheap to make and very profitable to sell.
12gb 2060, no lite hash rate limiter, this is pretty much exclusively aimed at the mining market surely?
It's insane that this is still happening and they haven't managed to get their stock levels to an acceptable rate at this stage.
Particularly interesting is the "Spatial Upscaling For All Games With Updated NVIDIA Image Scaling", which can be used on any game. I got better results in Far Cry 6 than what I can get with its native FSR.
If it's just for productivity, a Ryzen 3800X + B550 motherboard is less than 450euro.
8 cores/16 threads, good boxed cooler (Wraith Prism RGB), upgrade path.
I am wary of Intel 12th-gen - for gaming, Intel are already warning that the architectural change will make them incompatible with DRM-locked games (i.e. almost all of them) unless developers push a software change.
