This question goes out those who took the 2 jabs? Will you you take it to get back to normality? Or are you sick of the government moving the goalposts constantly?
Got my Moderna booster yesterday morning; fever, aches and fatigue since yesterday afternoon.
I had Covid this time last year and this booster illness is slightly worse.
I was pro vaccine but now that more restrictions are being enforced and my experience of my booster illness, I have to question the overall efficacy of the whole booster programme.
Edit: to clarify: I question the point of the boosters for low risk groups; if you are vulnerable then by all means. But me getting a booster has shown to not curb the spread of the virus to any significant degree.
Ring your GP and they can refer you for a test.
I have Covid at the minute but I can't get an appointment for a test. I will be annoyed if I don't get one AND I'm forced to get a booster in a month or two
Went to Cork City Hall this morning at 10am - was out by 10.05am - grand and fast, no queue
Friend had an appointment for Swords today and it was the same there. It was supposed to be appointment only in the morning but they weren't checking and let loads of walk-ins through. Took an hour and a half to get through.
Seems a lot quieter down the country which suggests they have (again) underestimated the capacity needed in Dublin.
That seems to be the case every time a new age group opens (CityWest in particular) wait a day or 2 and it's back to normal till the next group opens up.
Seems like appointments are pointless if Citywest today is anything to go by. Massive queues, everyone in together.
Got Moderna in Boots today, didn’t seem to be anyone before or after me so I was in and out in a matter of minutes. They gave me a vaccine card after, though not sure how valid it is as actual proof for travel, etc but it does have the batch number on it.
Got Pfizer booster in the chemist on the way home, previous two were Moderna.
Was grand and handy was in and out in less than 10 mins.
Was out in the local shoping centre earlier - and thought of this thread. 2 gardai escorting a family out of a premises and the father looked in at all the shoppers and shouted " the booster is gonna kill all of yas". Now this chap neither looked drunk or on drugs, but he was terribly convincing...
I did laugh a bit
I asked for further clarification and was told
"You should speak to a member of staff if you cannot approach reception. Different centres will work in different ways, so you should speak to the staff on the day."
so it looks like they don't know.
I was however impressed by the fact that they responded so quickly each time as I assume they are being hounded by questions about booking PCR tests and such.
Just reading this on HSE website for Janssen recipients
From 29 December, you can get your booster by booking an appointment with a participating pharmacy. If you are aged 18 to 29, you may also be able to get your booster at a GP.
I received the following response from the HSE on Twitter.
"When you arrive at the centre on the day reception will direct you based on whether you have an appointment or are attending a walk-in clinic."
I don't know whether that means people with a timeslot skip the queue and go straight to the reception, or if they join the queue until they get to the reception. 😄
I booked a timeslot an hour ago but haven't received an SMS confirmation yet, so perhaps those timeslots shouldn't be listed. Who knows.
Edit: I tried it again at a different timeslot and got the confirmation SMS.
That's interesting, in Swords they have different slots. Appointments only in the morning, walk-ins in the afternoon.
I see some walk-in clinics also allow you book a timeslot. For example, Shoreline in Greystones are listed as a walk-in clinic from 8:30am - 7pm tomorrow but also allow you to book a timeslot at those times here.
How does that work exactly? Is there two separate queues? Or is booking a timeslot for the most part pointless?
90 days is correct, it was changed recently from 6 months.
Oh give over. This is just embarrassing.
I'm finding myself extremely confused. I had the second dose of Pfizer on the 1st of October. When should I be getting a booster? HSE says 90 days later, I see people in here saying 6 months. I've not had covid myself (that I am aware of).
At this point, I will do just about anything to avoid further restrictions. My mental health has taken what feels like an irreversible beating over being very isolated the past two years. I had a baby during that time, and the restrictions meant my husband missed out on almost every part of it when he was with me every step of the way for our other two children. I can't spend more than 20 minutes in a retail setting with my mask on before I start to get incredibly anxious as people simply do not want to give me personal space. I do not go to pubs, I do not eat in restaurants, I did not socialize with most of my extended family over Christmas, my new and only nephew doesn't know me and cries when I speak to him. I honestly don't give a flying fiddler's what they're putting in it at this stage. I just want my life back.
Got Pfizer booster an hour ago after getting J&J in the summer. I’m 28 and don’t feel like i really need it but I’m just preempting the inevitable booster update to the vaccine pass.
Got my booster at Park's pharmacy in Dorset Street. Delighted to get it. I had rung up a few pharmacies in my area and was told I'd be on a waiting list for 2 weeks. I rang up Park's and they said they were doing walk-ins. There was no queue and I was in and out of there in about ten minutes. Excellent service. I got a Pfizer. Worth giving them a ring if you are struggling to get somewhere.
.
Anyone know if its possible to get Pfizer anywhere? Vaccine centers and pharmacies all around me are only doing Moderna. My doctor isn't doing vaccinations any more.
Got my booster yesterday
29 got it from a random Dr who is based in the same health centre as my own mad busy with apts and walk ins huge line yesterday morning
had a single shout j and j as my last time me and being honest I fell better after the pfizer then the j and j which knocked me out
Reluctantly got mine yesterday morning at a walk in centre .
For someone my age , general health who already had the two doses I found the argument for it dubious particularly as it looks like it's effectiveness against getting Covid symptoms will only last 10/12 weeks.
Walk in centre was fairly quiet , a trickle of people , no queue , the vaccinator was well up for a chat.
I got the moderna but would have much preferred pfizer again , i know a few people who were completely wiped out for a few days after the second dose of moderna.
So far so good, my arm became sore after a few hours , it took 10/12 hours after both Pfizer shots , it also hurts more this time. But apart from that i feel grand .
Got mine yesterday, stone dead at the centre. Nurses standing around chatting as there was nobody turning up. She said they should have started the 30s earlier so there was something to do.
Drop this ridiculous analogy
If I was around a few years ago? What? I have no idea what you're trying to say.
I’m sure if you were around a few years ago you’d be asking what the big deal is about having to sit at the back of the bus and drink from a different water fountain...
Did you just compare anti-vaxxers to blacks in 1950s America?
Wait, did you just say blacks in 1950s America had it better than anti-vaxxers?
Fuckin' hell, I've heard it all now.
