My reading of the stewards verdict is simply that race director call over use of the safety car supersedes all other rules. No way Mercedes will roll over on that but it would be a shock if CAS or any legal entity try to overturn it

The move Max made on Hamilton was an excellent one that nobody saw coming. A move worthy of winning the World Championship.

I posted that one earlier, 15.3 gives the race director ultimate overriding authority on the use of the safety car notwithstanding other rules. Loose wording perhaps but that's what you get in these sorts of regulations as a get out of jail free card.

But why couldn't he hold off max for one lap. Perez on old tyres held off Lewis on fresh tyres for a lap.
Not a fan of the race director having the power to bend the rules mid race. Hopefully that gets sorted for next season. Can't see a repeat of this mess.
If that’s their decision so be it. I wanted to see Max win and I think he deserves it more than Hamilton, but I fundamentally disagree with the idea of one person being to toss the regulations of the sport aside on a whim, regardless of who that person is.

Imaging if the didn't make the track changes to make it quicker. There would be no 3 extra laps added this year to the race distance. Incredible set of circumstances to finish of truly epic season.

Sky's report on decision basically says that race director can decide on the safety car procedure, overruling other rules. If that's the rules, then sounds slam dunk, but whether it's the fairest rule for future is another question...

It was a great move by Max, if Hamilton risked a collision then he risked taking himself out.
He gave himself a much better chance down both the straights than risking taking himself out.
Merc will probably go to the courts now. Max is confirmed as champ though, so RB can party hard!

F1 confirm that race director has ability to decide what happens with the safety car, but there is a rule which says that the race director's decision is final.
We are the champions playing in red bull camp plus max celebrating all over again might be a clue
