Yes, of course, i had forgotten, he stopped doing 2 in a row on the 2016 tour, but the man himself was able to do 5 nights in a row for the Broadway shows, for about 2 years

He played Croke Park in 2016 on the 27th and 29th May. On the same tour he played 3 dates in Los Angeles on 15th, 17th & 19th of March. He also played 2 dates in Brooklyn, NYC on 23 & 25 April. In recent years he normally doesn’t do back to back dates.

My source for the dates in May are a person who works in a hotel in Ballsbridge.

The Broadway shows were very different to a stadium or arena show with the E Street Band. I was at one of the Broadway shows. He is largely standing still on the stage at the mic or at the piano. In a stadium/arena show he’s running around the place

Also, the Broadway shows were about 2 hours 20 min long. The stadium/arena shows tend to be 3+ hours.

Well the price of rooms in D4 has certainly jumped

Seeing as even 3 RDS gigs, will not come close to public demand, i’d say one Cork gig at Pairc Ui Chaoimh, and possibly one more elsewhere, is likely.

I hope he repeats the large area in front of the stage railed off, for early arrivals, was inside there, for the 1st of the two Kilkenny gigs in 2013, the whole of Born In The USA played, so lucky to have seen that.

I can say with 100% certainty if Bruce plays, there will be a pit.

Any details of other European dates? Might be easier / nicer to see him in a setting outside of Ireland.

No tour dates released yet, so its a bit of a guessing game at present, allthough May sounds right, as its usually (but not always)not possible to have gigs in GAA stadiums between late June and early September.

I am assuming here, that he will play outside of Dublin !

Of course, its also possible the tour announcement been delayed as current situation is fairly fluid as the experts assess the impact.

The whole GAA calendar has had a revamp with the championship now running from April to July so maybe not.

Sheeran is already taking up a few dates in Thomond Park in May so not sure how many more they can do.

Would love a return to Nowlan Park, night 1 in 2013 with the whole BITU album played was magical. Kilkenny City is also full of pubs with the stadium in close proximity. Could easily fit in 2 dates there late summer

So many gigs next year and I'd almost accept no Bruce gigs here till 2023 (runs away quickly ha)

I hope he returns to PUC Cork, he'd sell out 2 shows there

Surely a tour announcement is due fairly soon if posters are going up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭loveboat captain

Either it's another mistake in Germany or the announcement is imminent

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,320 ✭✭✭✭hynesie08

    **** June............

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,575 ✭✭✭fafy

That date ties in with RDS gigs in May, but is this a genuine poster ?, or someone who genuinely put it up in error, ahead of time, as no tour has officially been announced

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,543 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    My poor bank balance

We'll wait and see, please don't be June please

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,575 ✭✭✭fafy

May sounds about right, the 6th, 8th & 10th were rumoured, and RDS has an event on May 13th to 15th, so it fits. And if that poster is genuine for the German gig, in June, that also fits.

i’d guess 3 RDS, 1 PUC Cork, 1 elsewhere, maybe Kilkenny

2022, could prove to be the biggest turnover ever, in Aikens history, they have never had before, the 2022 multiple stadium gigs for Sheeran, Brooks, Elton John, + Kilmainham, Marquee, Iveagh Gardens etc etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭loveboat captain

Its genuine enough, seems that for a second time someone in Germany didn't get the memo that the tour date announcement had been delayed. As said above it fits perfectly with the rumoured dates that have been doing the rounds for a while

Nova briefly mentioned something about is Bruce announcing a tour etc but mentioned more about that after 1? Could be nothing

Silly question - what date format do Germans use? mm/dd or dd/mm ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,071 ✭✭✭✭AndrewJRenko

You might have a short memory. In the 80s and 90s, Aiken (Jim Aiken, father of Peter) did ALL the gigs at RDS, indoor at Simmonscourt and Main Hall, outdoor in the arena, with the biggest acts in the world, Springsteen, Billy Joel, ZZ Top, Spandau Ballet, the Durans, Kid Creole, Joan Armatrading, all the Slanes (Dylan, Springsteen, Lizzy, Stones) and lots lots more.

Charging a lot less money back then though even when taking inflation into account

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,305 ✭✭✭prodsc

Heard Louis Walsh say that Bruce was playing here next year (as well as many others) on the radio this morning.

Id say if its not announced tomorrow then it wont be happening as there are only 2 weeks to Christmas.

Live gigs then were a way to sell records. Nowadays the artist gets little from the recorded music, so has to get more from the gig.
