The penultimate race of the season takes place at the very very very new Jeddah "street" circuit so there's not a whole lot to go by, consensus seems to be it's a Mercedes track but with the pace Hamilton has shown since Brazil he will be hard beat regardless. It seems like you'll never be too far from the wall here so some safety cars/DNFs may be a theme here if there's a slippy new surface just gone down.

Verstappen leads Hamilton by 8 points, all other points of interest (P3 & P5 in the constructors) were tied up at Qatar.

Odd start time for the race, what's that about?

Given the speeds, unfamiliarity and the layout, we can surely expect a safety car, so it must come down to who gets lucky with pitstops etc.

IT's interesting that F1 feel they need to keep some interest in the championship. There's a real feeling that Hamilton will saunter away into the distance and maintain a 10 second gap to Max, complain about the tyres and win the 2 races and the championship at a canter.

It's been a great season so i don't think we can complain even if the finale isn't very good.

I cant see Hamilton finishing outside the top two for the 2 remaining races with the form and engine he has, He's more likely to get a DNF than finish 6th,7th or 10th.

Anyone else think we could end up with a farce a la Indy 05 or Spa this year? I get everyone saying bring on the chaos but I wonder if the new track layout offering no grip and those walls will see multiple DNFs, safety cars etc and the whole thing coming down to a lottery? Eventful races are all great but this looks like it could be bordering on something more serious.

It's a sportswashing PR event for Saudi. They need to show how tolerant they are without giving their own people notions that they will actually tolerate any behaviour that isn't sanctioned.

It is very much one rule for F1 and another rule for the Saudi people.
