put a mask on and dont be a fool
Schools can and do send kids home from school for all sorts of reasons - not following school rules, misbehaviour, not wearing correct uniform etc. Your constitutional right is not absolute and is always subject to following the prescribed rules.
wow your a very popular teacher are you? You stand out in a crowd do you? well done !!!!!!!! Or really , just have the kids put the masks on. Limit the spread, help to slow down transmission and get us out of this mess. Thats the lesson Id want my children to embrace. I would'nt like you as their teacher and that's for sure
oh the irony
The hilarious thing is that despite all the Maude Flanders hysterical bead clutching the vast majority of kids are handling this much better than the adults paid to teach and guide them, some people who are claiming to be teachers here are projecting their own issues, not the kids.
no different than other public servants , teachers often dont know the law , unfortunately people often dont know the law either
So watching the 6.1 and masks for kids is all over the place - RTE say it's required, but a clip of Micheal responding to Alan Kelly has him saying "required but not regulated in law"
So advisory then... muppet!
Masks are only a part of the overall measures against Covid. In the case of children in Primary Schools, they are probably a very small part, compared with vaccination, ventilation and proper use of antigen testing. Given the difficulty so many adults have with proper use of masks, can you really expect small kids to follow all the guidelines put out by control-freak Nphet types?
If the mask rule were to be set aside for vaccinated children, that might at least be a useful incentive
"Previously, masks have been a requirement for children in post-primary, and staff in both primary and secondary schools. Under a cabinet decision taken today, they will now be a requirement for all children from third class and up. This is not a requirement in law but it is a requirement in schools on public health grounds."
They didn't for vaccinated adults. That plus the fact that we're still expected to provide personal details if we fancy an indoor coffee, and still restricted by what we can/can't do regardless makes ya wonder why we bothered at all - with the exception of those who are actually at risk of course.
if enough parents revolt , schools arent going to expel half the class
another thing , why stop at third class pupils ? , makes no sense , its certain that within six months or so , all primary school kids including infants will be expected to wear masks
they like to ease it in
I think there is a bit of over reaction here to the masks.
We all wear them at second level, including all ASD and special needs students with no issues.
It's just become part of the culture, we are well used to them.
Yes the are uncomfortable + in an ideal world wouldn't have to wear them but that's just the way it is.
Now 3rd class up is probably a bit young, I'd probably go with 5th & 6h class.
I'm not for one minute saying government or NPHET are managing Covid in schools well, its a joke but the masks is not a big deal to me.
Parents won't revolt. If there's one thing we've learned over the last 2 years it's that Irish people don't revolt. We will grumble about it online but ultimately acquiesce to whatever nonsense NPHET and the government dream up.
Revolt against a safety measure 🙄
It's time to close the schools, enough is enough now.
My son was off for 2 weeks, returned a negative result but we still kept him off an extra few days to make sure he was ok to go back. He went back yesterday and all was fine, then today his class were outside in the cold and rain for PE!! His teacher rang after school to say he had been coughing in the afternoon and now has to stay at home "until the symptoms clear".
It's an absolute joke, he was sitting in the class with all windows open in soaking wet clothes for over 2 hours and they now say he has to stay away. 7 years of age and this is how they are being treated.
Most likely not even a teacher. Ive just checked their post history. An April 2021 join date, and literally nearly all their posts are spewing hatred about masks, covid and the other usual extremist 'anti restrictions thread' style baloney.
So you don’t go all in on 100% masks and complete deference to NPHET and you get questioned on here whether you’re fit to do your job.
I will teach my kids, mask or not. I take the precautions set down for teachers. I won’t be telling someone I’m not teaching you because you’re mask isn’t on. That’s for parents to decide.
It’s funny how this argument has completely wiped out the lack of contact tracing and proper ventilation in schools, I don’t find this coincidental. Apparently I’m not fit to be a teacher because I want these things rather than masks.
Check out any school in some of the most disadvantaged areas in Dublin. You’ll find under 5% wearing masks currently.
Any chance that the Schools might close early for the Christmas Break on Friday 17th and give families a chance before 25th and then open early January 4th ?
That won’t go down well in here. You’ll have people telling you you’re not fit to teach or parent if you don’t 100% believe masks are the answer to all our Covid ills.
Highly unlikely
Zero chance of closures. The half week before Xmas potentially would make some sort of sense; could see it locally but not widespread.
Do you really think masks in primary school kids will get us out of this covid situation? It won’t. This virus will continue as long as their are hosts for it to spread and replicate itself. As you can see from other countries with far stricter mass mandates this virus can still keep going. How many kids will even be wearing masks that fit? most I see wear adult sized ones. My own son has outgrown kids sized ones and adult ones are too big.
Your take is a **** one, it's simply that most parents just aren't stupid.
Could you repost that in English? No idea what you're on about it are you saying there's going to be a revolution over masks in schools? Genuinely no clue what you're saying.
sadly I agree but that doesnt mean individual constitutional challenges could not be mounted and they would be sure to succeed too provided you dont mind the notoriety associated with ploughing ones own furrow in this country
could well mean home schooling for some time but eventually your child would be reinstated
How long would it take for a challenge to the Supreme Court and how many people have the financial and legal resources to mount such a challenge? For what it's worth the DoE are saying unmasked pupils will be refused entry to school
plenty of lawyers would take on such a case pro bono
Unfortunately, no matter what I think, this is in now, and I believe it’s in to stay. It won’t end in February.
There won’t be a revolt either. We’ve taken every single thing lying down (€9 meals, anti science such as NPHETs view on antigens, closing nightlife without really closing it etc etc). We’ll piss and moan but unfortunately it’ll be all accepted lying down in the hope it will lower ‘de numbers’.
