You seem to have forgotten that Max was literally gifted a win and an extra 5 points at Spa.
Don't be bitching that Hamilton has all of the luck when Max's lead would be much smaller only for that farce.
Septic post by a self proclaimed neutral
Top quality response there, 10/10 (apologies if you’re under 12)
They had to take a new one after the silverstone one was written off.
one under 12 post deserves another.
I'm just glad we have a championship fight on our hands with 2 races left. May the best driver win
There is so much wrong with this that it defies belief!
How you can possibly claim to be neutral is astoundingly unbelievable!
Love the claim that RB f**ked up a pitstop at Monza and then Max in typical Max fashion decided he'd rather crash than back out of a corner to continue the fight after coming out behind Lewis, and this was all a diabolical scheme by Mercedes. That's a level of bias towards Max that even Jos Verstappen would struggle to reach!
Comparing both teams it’s not even close, RB have been superior for most of the season. Mercedes are in this title race from continually benefitting from penalties as much as they are from team performance.
Except even before the last 2 races Mercedes had the fastest car over the season and then had massive time in hand on those two tracks too.
Fastest car maybe but over the course of the season RB have had the better overall performance, better pitstops and better strategy. And such was their desperation they relied again on benefitting from penalties to put a rocket on the car that only needed to last maximum 4 races, which is a strategy they couldn’t have employed without the DNF/9th place from Verstappen. Less team ingenuity, more throwing money at the problem.
Yeah, Red Bull have had to outperform what they have, Mercedes are just returning to their mean. I wish I could remember which video it was but I've seen in multiple places that Mercedes had the fastest car up til a race or two ago and they're getting more benefit out of it.
There's gobshites talking a load of rubbish about Hamilton, there's (presumably) autistic people who can't understand why someone would cheer for an young underdog against an old driver who has dominated. Simple facts are that Mercedes have the fastest car and are in absolutely no way underdogs this year or at a disadvantage.
One little bit of opinion though, I mentioned earlier in the season Hamilton to me looked like he wasn't quite at his peak. I'm not the only one (judging from endless articles and videos) that would say Hamilton has looked a lot more "up for it" the last couple of weeks and lo and behold in the last 2 races he's just gone back to smashing Bottas by half a second in qualifying. If he'd had those couple of tenths boost all season the title would likely be done and dusted in his favour by now.
That poster claimed Hamilton intentionally tried to kill Max at Silverstone, and is best ignored.
I think RB have been great this year, and the points dropped were out of their control (Silverstone and Hungry). ax was only 6 points ahead after Turkey and I thought that was it, but he nailed Austin which should have been a Merc track all over.
These last 2 races should be great for the spectacle alone. SA sounds like the paint will still be wet on the walls when the teams arrive, and Abu Dhabi will be a tad unknown with the new layout, and all teams will be pushing the limits on performance and reliability.
Overall, I think Max deserves it and I am rooting hard for him.
I was surprised hearing one of the podcasts I l listen to mention that they're sponsored by the Saudi GP. That's one way to make sure there is no discussion of human rights.
Might have been The Race and might have been Missed Apex. Not sure which. Interesting approach by Saudi though.
The Race yeah. They (the Saudis) will be doing whatever they can to control the narrative.
More videos have surfaced of Mercedes rear wing flexing. I'd say it won't be on the car for last two races.
Wonder how much they can actually crank the engine to
I'm wondering if the engine is a red herring. Might not be as powerful as being speculated. The new engine and flex wing combined seems to where the extra performance has come from.
That's a huge gain from a new but "standard" engine and a "mildly" flexing wing.
They used the turkey engine in Qatar. They're using the Brazil engine again in the next race. It'll only be on its second race so could be a serious advantage over Max who is still on his Russia engine, I think.
I really hope RB can pull something out of the bag pace wise to at least be competitive in the last 2 races.
It’s great to have a championship going to the wire but if Mercedes keep up their pace advantage I don’t know if there’ll be much spectacle involved.
any links to the merc wing irregularities ? please and thanks
Gpblog.com had a link to a video on twitter from Motorsports Exposure.
Video is very choppy, bit like the video of Hamiltons steering wheel moving. It could be just some frames edited and be fake.
They're throwing money everywhere. Aramco sponsored one of the last few races. F1 eSports last night they were plastered all over it as well. Since there's only half a dozen decent sized creators they're mostly in on it. There's The Race in the pocket, WTF1 guy (**** hate him) crosses over with the eSports stuff so is partly paid by them. Josh Revell (not a huge fan) doesn't seem to be there yet but has done a guest video for the official F1 channel. Couple of other guys rarely break 50k views so can pretty much say what they like for now.
Red Bull is not a likeable team. It does not have a long, historic tradition in the sport like McLaren, Mercedes, Ferrari or Williams and is really just a personal plaything of Dietrich Matescihtz and a marketing tool for his company. For those reasons alone I support Mercedes in the championship battle and hope Lewis Hamilton wins the title.
I disagree. Objectively Mercedes and RB are two sides of the same coin, two racing powerhouses that act in a very similar way, like when someone complains about Horner doing something Wolff would do the exact same in that situation and vice-versa.
I also think it’s a bit disingenuous to write off the team as a plaything and a marketing tool. I think all F1 teams are marketing tools in some respects, and I think it’s very difficult to argue that Red Bull hasn’t contributed to the sport.
According to then fan survey: "McLaren have risen to the top of the pile when fans were asked to name their favourite team with 29.5% of the vote, ahead of Red Bull (19.8%), with Ferrari (17.9%) dropping from first to third and Mercedes (11.9%) down to fourth."
Mercedes is little over half as popular as Red Bull. But they're all pretty much exclusively marketing tools. There's a notion the F1 carries nobility or something other than selling things through marketing.
Red Bull has shown more dedication to F1 than a lot of the major manufacturers, they have been involved with sponsorship since 1995. Mercedes are in there for the same reasons as Red Bull and Ferrari - to sell their products. McLaren may look like the exception, but they've sold almost every asset they have to keep going. 600 million lost last year, 35 the year before and 60 the year before that. Its a matter of when, not if for McLaren to go the way of Williams.
Yeah it's all marketing but at least Red Bull have always made an effort to have some fun and be interesting, whether it's silly test runs or parties in Monaco.
Mercedes just came in (people can **** off talking about their proud history of racing. It's a name and that's about it. If you want to look at lineage of the F1 organisation it was Tyrell (back runners for 15 years) then owned by a tobacco company (marketing?) then Honda for a couple of years before they **** themselves. Red Bull took over from Ford/Jag which had been started by the legend Jackie Stewart.
They're all pretty corporate just in different ways. Ferrari is like a collective of people who've only ever read The Art of War and Atlas Shrugged. Williams are bumbling along, more focussed on off-road tech now it seems. McLaren are expanding as suppliers for other series (and even some road car components), and I think they would struggle to over-value the effect Lando has had for them. Alpine are again literally a marketing tool having been renamed for a marque I doubt many even F1 fans had heard about before. And I'm not arsed talking about the rest. :P
