They are also used for kite flying and misdirection!
Misdirection? How do you mean?
Around Budget time they put out nonsense so that their real intentions look very acceptable. I think this scenario has two culprits anyway, the source trying to be useful or to seem in the loop and the journalist keen to publish anything!
I'm very sure it'd all be over by now if we only had original variant/Alpha to worry about. Israel was on its way to zero-covid with only 55% of the population vaccinated when it had just Alpha variant.
I think with boosters we still have a shot against Delta. Just hope the uptake for boosters is as good as the uptake for the first 2 doses.
Ah yeah. Fair enough.
For zero-Covid (assuming it is actually possible) we are now looking at vaccination of pre-teens and maybe even babies. That will be a hard sell even for strongly pro-vaxxers.
With all the kite flying the last few days I think its no longer a question of if, its a question of when. My money is on the first week of December to give the boosters a chance to "flatten the curve" etc and have a "meaningful Christmas". Cannot see the 5km restrictions again but maybe county ones. Time will tell.
That's not even two weeks after the measures introduced last week
Are you predicting level 5 but without those features?
Surely that article from The Liberal about a level 5 lockdown from 20th December isn’t accurate? There would be riots!
Pretty much any article from the Liberal can be take as inaccurate.
Level 5 over Christmas is exactly how you would get the vast majority of the population to riot which I presume is what the guys at the Liberal want.
Michael Martin sh1ts his pants every time ICU numbers go up or even when Tony Hollohan presents his data in such a way which terrifies the poor man from Cork
until this wally is removed from his post , it will be a loosen restrictions - dive back under the covers " strategy" for the foreseable future
Irish people very rarely protest so I'd say zero chance of rioting. Personally I think they'll leave it too late again and it will for the duration of January.
the last twenty one months has shown that the vast majority of the irish population will go along with anything that the establishment deems " the right thing " - respectable thing to do
we will meekly obey as always
So we're going back into lockdown ?
Nobody knows
Based on?
Based on The Liberal.........
So nothing.......
Dead right too.
I land in Ireland on the 9th...straight to the pub and I am locking myself to the bar.
And WhatsApp as well,Now that is Gospel😄😄
And the vintners, told the punters not the pub.....
Giving getting locked a new meaning.
It's a real pity we find ourselves in this situation and again I believe it's self inflicted to a certain extent.
I note some of those who were crying about "freedom" and all that are much quieter as the scale of the problem we have is getting ever more apparent by the day.
There was absolutely no need to relax restrictions to the extent we did.
We didn't have to fill stadiums or open nightclubs. When you take a cold hard look at this it's total madness in the middle of a pandemic.
This is coming back to hurt us.
I can't understand how the really harsh lesson of just before last Christmas was not taken on board.
Society now will have to through another period of uncertainty.
Before nightclubs and football stadiums were opened, we had this under control at a steady 1000 cases per day for months.
Pandering to the night club Owners so people could have a few pints and a shift in a small stuffy underventilated club has ruined us.
in addition, large swaths of people have seemingly given up on wearing masks in most places.
mandatory masking should have been kept in place
bunch of melons running the government
Prediction, for a laugh.
Semi-hard lockdown just before Christmas.
Raging hard lockdown 3 days after Christmas for about a month.
Flaccid restrictions with vague promises of the summer a mere 5 months away to keep people at bay.
Work from home is basically locked in until "maybe September", while in the ensuing time more and more of these jobs are shifted to Kuala Lumpur. Regular businesses realise they can't remotely construct a breakfast roll, and start to close by the score.
Economy reels, government struggles with some sort of pup sequel that'll be like 30 quid a week, housing market finally prolapses without the rent subsidy nee pup to sustain it, mass migrations to tiny villages and wooded areas, perhaps actual civil unrest approaching end of summer, government and opposition parties quit because nobody wants to touch anything anymore, and something about a "super vaccine" will emerge, due in 2023.
It's a lot like Carslberg, really.
Yes, because we are the only country with full stadiums.
In fact, we were the only country to give up our euro matches in the summer and stadiums all over Europe have been open for over a year.
Have a look at public transport maybe, or schools where its rampant. Or hospitals, where half of the people in there got it in hospital or tested positive in hospital
Where have people given up wearing masks? It's mandatory in every shop, personal services etc. it's not mandatory anywhere else. I haven' seen any difference in indoor masking wearing.
Closing pubs for Christmas on the cards lads ☹
