It is amazing to think that this rumour is circulating all these years and Gemma made no mention of it in 2018. Gemma accused him of everything except the confession. Main reason why this investigation hasn't been solved is because of the corruption of the gards & the lack of investigatory powers against their corruption & incompetence. GSOC are an absolutely ridiculous organisation, relying on the co-operation of the gards to see if their corrupt or not. They are not fit for purpose.
Until this is sorted, another crime just like STDP crime can happen again. This is the main fundamental issue that should have been addressed after this case, yet instead, the powers that be, have thought it acceptable to paint an innocent man as a murderer.

Ian should have gone in on the Morris tribunal with the McBreartys, it might have achieved more. Things were supposed to change after that but of course didnt, and they had to fight tooth and nail for garda corruption to actually be admitted.
Now that proper oversight is looking to be put in place, there's huge resistance from the gardai. The lack of anti corruption in place is quite unique to this country, and the gardai will continue to be a law unto themselves until it happens.

I'd love Harris to step up to the mark and uncover the corruption but I'm not holding my breath.
He definitely has more chance of doing that than previous commissioners, simply due to the fact he's not from a garda background and already entangled with the endemic filth. Who knows though?
