A new general discussion thread for the new season that is upon us.
A beautiful autumnal day in Dublin. Not even a hint of breeze, mild and good bit of sun and everyone out and about.
One big change was they came to close the packed playground at 4.30pm and everyone looked shocked as if they couldn't believe it would get dark but sure enough by 4.50pm it was twilight zone so obvious park has to be closed by 5pm.
Since we started naming storms I wonder if this is the first year we never had a named storm in September/October?
Or did we have one that I can't remember because this autumn has been so boring it's a blur to me.
2015-16, the very first one which also happened to be the most active one, didn’t until November 12th with Abigail. Aurore was named on October 20th but that was from the Spanish/French list of names and did not impact us but southern England.
Very mild November likely this year .
As I seem to enquire on a monthly basis and never remember is there an easy place to go to find Irelands top 10 warmest November's or any month since most months from now on will fit into that category.
Incredibly mild and bland Autumn. Not a hint of frost yet in my area, normally I would have at least seen 1 frosty morning by now.
The following 7 to 10 days looks very mild with temperatures staying generally in the 11 to 15C range. If we do get cold weather this November it will likely be very brief for 1 to 2 days. Hopefully the weather will turn much more interesting and seasonal from December.
The warm/mild weather was great for September and the first half of October but at this stage the very mild weather is beginning to overstay it's welcome now that we are very close to winter.
Very mild today 17c here in leitrim
Thanks . Good to know.
Castlederg 17c at 1pm today. In my neighbours garden their Rose Bush has new buds coming out. Crazy for November.
Grass is back growing here in Meath too, if we get a few days of high pressure and dry weather from the weekend, I may have to go with one last cut. I have never had to cut the garden in November before.
Its a foreboding sign in my opinion that a baptism of cold wintry fire will be upon us soon enough
Nature and climate is a great equaler, climate change notwithstanding
The gfs is calling it this evening for around the 20th November!
The 12 gfs is an outlier once again with it's chilly north-east plunge. There are several others getting close to it but not cold enough for low level snow yet.
"Cold" and 'Fire" are very opposite in terms of temperature. Is it going to be a hot or cold baptism in the next few weeks?
Good God....
Yes I feel a cold winter on the way too maybe as we go into December or January we'll have a repeat of 2010, - 10c and snow
Ya it could very well turn out cold after the first 3 weeks of November as we need a very cold spell of weather to average put the annual average temperature otherwise it will be 0.5 to 1c warmer than last year.
Well balls of fire can come in the sky with thundersnow 🤣🤣
A mild November night in Kildare
Hopefully. Some frosty nights would be a start.
Car showing 16 C in full sunshine near Casement at 2.15 pm. Long may these November days continue. Just beautiful weather
Starting to see some signs of autumn the last 2 weeks or so in North Wicklow, but that has totally disappeared this week. Stunning sun with real heat, even at night it's warm. I have been out in tshirts during the day.
I'm not sure I like this 6 month summer we have on the East of Ireland - even rain would be novelty at this stage, let alone a storm or some cold. I'd be shocked if the temperature dropped significantly in the next few weeks where we even have a cold Christmas let alone a white one.
I like the dry sunny weather but this 15 or 16c in nearly the middle of november is just wrong to me anyway, i'll have to cut the grass this week to, this is the 3rd november in a row, i have had to do this
Not right i tell yis
Where's Mt's weather forecasts gone I'm lost without them
@Dazler97 They're in the same place they've always been, pinned to the top of this forum.
The grass in my garden has grown by at least an inch over the past 2 days and more growth today. Another week of mild or very mild to go so we will continue to see more growth. If we can maintain the dry weather throughout next week but start to see the temperatures slide away with fog/frost then I'll cut the grass again hopefully for the last time till March/April.
Rose bush is starting to flower again.
November 2019 was much cooler than average so you probably just need to cut it every November despite what your memory tells you :P
I must say ME forecast let me down, poured rained here in Donegal this evening , wasn't expecting damp evening , now tomorrow's promised dry day has showers in it on latest update
I must be blind can't see it :(
