I find this final really hard to call can't make up my mind because both have beaten two teams that performed poorly in the semi finals . It should be a very interesting game if pushed a slight nod for mayo but only very slight .
It's hard to call this one. I think the longer the match is 50/50 the more it edges towards Tyrone.
If it becomes a dogfight then Tyrone might take it.
If Mayo can get to a 3 or 4 point lead then it might allow them more freedom to counter attack.
To be honest, I haven't been that impressed with Tyrone. Kerry are weak, just like how Cork beat them last year. Ulster is a test but they didn't look great v Donegal prior to Murphys red card. Monaghan aren't what they were.
Who did Mayo beat on the contrary? Yes Dublin are a mammoth task, but we don’t know where they were at. We’ll be able to make a judgement on that next season.
they did beat the AI champions 6IAR team. But before that it could be argued they beat no one if significance. Both Monaghan and donegal would take galway .
We know the level Mayo are at though, they made the final last year and their players are more established.
James McCarthy has been given a 1 match ban after his elbow on Diarmuid O Connor at the end of the semi final. He will miss dublins first competitive game of 2022.
Small gets nothing for the incident with McLaughlin.

Again, further proof that the GAA's disciplinary system is a joke.
RTEs pod is out, Dessie Dolan on saying he’d worry about Mayo conceding goals to high balls, cited Donaghy & Tommy Walsh catching and passing off to the Gooch and Micheal Murphy. So that’s 15 and 9 years ago. How the f**k has this clown a job with RTE?
Dessie was a good player poor pundit maybe getting the gig because RTE want the token pundit from a weaker county .
Its the final score that counts, not the half time score. Both Galway and Dublin shot their bolt in the first half, probably thought they had the game done and dusted.
Even if Mayo were ten points down at half time, you'd fancy them to come back.
If I was from Tyrone, I'd nearly prefer to be one or two points down at the break as it means you will be super motivated during half time to get back into the game.
Mayo need a big strong player with pace to mark McShane when he comes on, and O'Shea doesn't have pace. Possibly Mullin or Harrison would be a good option to come on around the same time as McShane.
McShane wasn't much of a threat when he came on the last day. Wouldn't be overly worried about him.
100%.. total waste of time bringing him on.
I mean only returning 1.03 is woeful.
Sounds fair to me thought at the time McCarthy incident was poor form. And the small shoulder was over hyped on social media. Yet most did not say much about the McCarthy incident at all by comparison.
Well if we take both incidents as done with, I dont see the need to discuss them. They're closed now and the fact you still refer to smashing a mans jaw as a shoulder shows we wont agree on it.
But I think the GAA disciplinary process is worthy of discussion. I actually think they've got it wrong. McCarthy is being pulled and dragged back by O Connor, maybe he has a little kick at him too I cant be 100% and McCarthy reacts. I dont think the contact was that bad tbh and 1 match ban is probably fair.
But when a player inflicts such damage as to break a mans jaw, there is no punishment because the GAA says the ref saw it and played on so that's the matter dealt with.
We can never hope for things to improve if we keep letting serious incidents like that go just because th ref says he saw it. I dont mean specifically this case, as I said I consider it closed now. I'm talking about discipline, inconsistency and lack of action from the GAA in general.
I take it you didn't watch the game?
Does anyone know why they didn't reschedule to Sunday 12th? Scheduling issues with Sky perhaps?
Camogie final is Sunday
Plus it gives players etc the extra day to wind down on the Sunday.
A novel final which is great. Would love if both teams could win. Usually going for anybody but Kerry, Cork, Dublin, Kilkenny, Tipperay ( from Limerick). If any county needs to win for the sake of their avid supporters and the willingness of their players to come back again and again after final defeats its Mayo. On the other hand would be delighted for Brian Dooher- iconic player from the great Tyrone team of the 00s. His point in 2008 was the best score I think that was ever scored in Croke Park. Had everything - power, distance, accuracy, just before half time to deflate Kerry and had a few to tough backs chasing him down.
I'm expecting a huge game from Conor Mckenna on Saturday. Despite his 2 well taken goals in the semifinal, he wasn't that involved in general play, it seems to me Tyrone are still looking for the ultimate role for him. If they can get him in a busy spot where the ball is close to him often, he can win the game for them, he's a serious talent, can literally play anywhere, and has the capability to win the game for them.
Kevin McMenanmin often scored that off the bench and no one was talking about specialist defenders marking him when he comes on!
yes but the point he was referring to is that you quoted that Cathal McShane “wasn’t that great the last day”. And not to worry about him….
He’ll probably have Keegan for a shadow on Saturday so it will be a good tussle there. If he becomes a match winner from that battle, he’s going to deserve all the plaudits, but it’s hard to see him getting enough space to shine.
With respect, Small's challenge put his opponent in hospital with a fractured jaw that needed surgery. How on earth can you say it was over hyped? And before anyone mentions it, yes, Niall Morgan's challenge on Paddy Andrews that broke his jaw back in 2019 deserved a red card and a ban.
Mistimed shoulders that connect with the head are red cards all day long. Similar incident in last year's Meath county final. This was refereed by David Coldrick and he quite rightly gave a red card.
Anyone able to confirm here -
brother got his tickets emailed through the club from Ticketmaster. He added them to his Apple wallet. He can’t sit there anymore so I’ve asked him to print the ticket off for me and I’ll sit there.
just hoping I’ll be ok to go to the gate with the printed ticket (black and white) and the same ticket in his Apple wallet won’t complicate things.
Once you're not both trying to scan the same ticket, you'll be fine.
Young Mayo fan’s reaction to getting a surprise All Ireland Ticket.
If Meath were in the final and I got surprised with tickets, I'd probably react the same way and I'm in my mid 30s....
He is pussing because now he know that be has to go to the match and watch Mayo lose. All his young life he has been watching them lose so he expects nothing to change
