Hi all, I notice on soliscloud.com that it gets updates from my datalogger every 5 minutes. Is it possible to increase this frequency to 1 minute for example ?
Not by yourself but if you email them they might do it for you.
I emailed them on this last month asking could they do it every minute and got a one word answer in the reply from their support - no. ☹️
Well I guess that’s that then, probably trying to minimise loads on their servers but it’d be handy sometimes to get a current reading rather than one a few minutes old.
Email Solarman instead 😉
Cheers didn't realise there was a different contact. would you have their email please?
Try customerservice@solarmanpv.com
Lads that will be a NO
Wasn't for me 😉
But I also got an email from then saying to stop emailing them, probably sick of me and finally gave in haha
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi
My 6kWp system just went live today 🤘 and I have a Solis S5 6kW inverter and I want to get my data online. I see there is an RJ45 connection on it, can I just plug this into my LAN and get connected to the cloud and send my data. From the bit of reading of the manuals and the interweb it seems to be the wireless data logger they use for this not a direct LAN connection.
Thanks
Yeah I'd not trust any RJ45 connections. Check the manual to be sure
Hmm no such ports on my inverter are you sure that's not either the meter/battery canbus port?
They have a stupid 4 pin round proprietary connection for their loggers and you can't get live them from them unless you jerry-rig that port to your own modbus adapter
Yeah I think you are right my S5 Inverter does have a RJ45 but I think its only used for Logic interface for switching the inverter off for a set of conditions. I think I will get their Wifi dongle thingy to connect it to the cloud. Only switched it on yesterday and not even moved into the house so I have plenty of time to be playing around with it over the coming years. Its just I have Cat6 at the board and I like hard wiring stuff in.
Cheers for that, contacted them and they have changed the logger updating frequency to every 60 seconds
Buy the rj45 logger they do both wifi and lan, I prefer wired also but my router is 2 feet away from the inverter so wifi works too.
I am expecting this to stop working every 60 seconds, once Solis will no longer use solarman and move to SolisCloud completely.
is there a way to get the data locally (network) if you have the wifi logger ?
Yes. See the details over on this thread. https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058224611/solar-pv-monitoring-automation-thread
Thread revival, relevant.
Solis seem quite happy to reduce the DUC to one minute now if you email them. Have done so over the last 24hrs and they have reduced it without issue.
Does that mean all the Data on there App is in one minute intervals?
That's what I was aiming for; that the power flow diagram in the app and on the web interface would update every minute instead of every 5 minutes. I can see from the changes they made that the Data Upload Cycle is now 60s in the details of the Inverter and the Data logger, however my app and web interface are still running to 3, 4, 5 minutes sometimes. I thought maybe it takes some time to propagate, and I've cleared the app cache and storage, but it's still the same. When I reverted to them to say it was still 3-5 minutes they said that in their end when they test it, it's 1 minute and suggested I contact the API developer (I feel that's a typo and they mean app), but I'm not sure what benefit that would bring. It's all coming from their servers anyway.
I'll leave it a couple of days to see if it settles. A friend of mine is requesting the same so I'll see how he goes also.
Shall report back.
Popped an email off to Solis off the back of reading this thread…. looks like I got the one guy who keeps asking "but why..???". Will report back on the yarn required to get past his reticence!
I got confirmation from Solis this morning that they updated the datalogger frequency from 5mins to 1 min.
I am seeing no difference in the data shown in the app or on Desktop so I am not sure if there is a benefit?
I might restart the inverter/ datalogger tonight to see if that changes anything?!
It might be the case that the logger is polling the inverter more frequently but caching the data and only submitting to Solis every 5 mins. If your router provides any metrics in terms of current traffic/connections (or even better a tcpdump output) you can verify the update frequency yourself.
To be fair to them, it worked!!
The overview screen on the app is still showing every 5 mins or so but if you click on device and view the data in there it's every minute.
my change was made this afternoon, had to give a bit of an explanation as to why I needed it first, so I explained that I’m trying to figure out automations and can’t see the various draws with a 5-minute refresh.
Updated on the app pretty quickly, no restarts or anything like that needed.
I’m still waiting on ESBn to set up my FiT so was great this afternoon to watch the generation and various loads and tweak my EV charger to utilise the excess (with a little bit of smoothing provided by the home battery)
Guys, quick note (I'm sure most of you know) I was looking to set up API access to my Solis inverter and noticed you can also get remote access to some of the settings, opened a ticket for both API and remote access last night and both complete first thing this morning, great service.
Any reason in particular that you are persisting with this rather than controlling locally via Modbus?
Hi all, looking for advice, I submitted ticket to Solis Helpdesk to increase update frequency to 60 seconds and this is the reply I got.
"The default uploading frequency is 300 seconds, and it can't be changed 60 sec uploading frequency is removed from datasheet, and it only opened for commercial demonstrations and internal testing, not for end customer's daily use."
Any advice on how to respond or is there a different email address to use rather than submitting a ticket to get them to increase update freqency to every minute?
How did you get this screen?
Select the device tab then click on the inverter serial number.
Select Inverter Control. Agree to the disclaimer and it will prompt you to enter your Solis Cloud login password again.
If you do not have access you will need to log it with Solis using the guide below.
