Is there no middle ground? Are people on here either mad pro vax, pro drug or anti vaxxers? Heres another one for ye

I don't think it's a conspiracy, but there has become a very grifty no vaccine aspect to some of the alternative medicines.
It also feels like trumps health plan in that the study that proves it is always a few weeks away but never appears.
This thread started in December last year, in all that time a good study that would put the efficacy of Invermectin to bed could have been run multiple times over, but it hasn't happened with the data available today still not showing good efficacy and the tell tale sign is that the better run studies show little to no effect, whereas the badly run studies show good outcomes. This is not a good indicator for future results (which of course, could reverse the results).
In the mean time, most pharma companies have moved on to other treatments, for whatever reasons.
This thread should be in the conspiracy theory forum.
It absolutely shouldn't be.
Why would a drug that has potential benefits fighting Covid-19 be in the conspiracy theory forum? Whatever about the eegits ingesting the animal purposed version of this medicine, there is a human dose and millions of people in the world have had their lives changed because of it for other ailments. There are currently trials underway at Oxford, as well as a privately funded trial underway in Japan which the Japanese government have said would lead the way to consideration for Ivermectin adoption if conclusions are positive. They're only two of many other studies underway, which wouldn't be taking place if there wasn't promise there.
It's very strange of you to write this off as a conspiracy theory with the above in mind, it seems you've been caught up in the Facebook nonsense also but on the other side. This has become politicised like many other things. People feel that acknowledging Ivermectin may have potential is no different than putting on a MAGA cap and storming Capitol Hill. Sad times when scientific method is pushed aside and ignored for a sense of belonging to the right group.
Edit: Typo
Give his activism he's likely to have come into extended contact with a whole lot of like-minded people anyway, one or more of whom could have hit him with a serious dose of the virus.
Suspicious about boosters, but will happily lap up all sorts of nonsense from dodgy sites and Facebook lunatics. Checks out.
I asked a hypothetical question to try and get up to speed on this topic. Stop pretending I was asking for medical advice.
Anyways it doesn't matter. The other poster who actually has knowledge on the topic got me up to speed.
Here's Caleb. He's beefy enough but he's hardly morbidly obese. If he'd been vaccinated, he'd be alive right now. Instead, he leaves behind a pregnant wife and three kids because he believed the sort of stuff that you're peddling. He died for nothing other than pig-headedness.
Yeah an obese guy dies from Covid, shock! horror!
Get a grip.
Why are you asking an internet forum for Medical advice. Medical advice has been banned on boards. It's absolutely nuts you won't talk to your healthcare professionals who have your history and your current status and vitals. They are who you should be guided by. Not a single person on a thread anywhere.
It's out of hand frankly.
Deaths from Covid are high if you are obese, regardless taking vaccine or other treatments.
He was obese so had one of the known health issues which put him in the 'vulnerable' category.
Sadly he died and his health issues were a major contributing cause to a bad outcome.
Thanks. Good summary.
The long answer is;
So as of now, there is no reason to believe it works but there are still plenty of trials ongoing which may yet turn something up.
Thanks for confirming that this thread is as complete trash as Facebook. It used to be you could ask a question on boards and get an answer without it being absolute scutter.
I cant believe people are eating horse medicine.
Well let's see. Try asking your health care professionals? And not Facebook Jean or John. After all they are qualified to help you.
So I guess the answer is it's likely to do nothing. Fair enough.
According to this in-vitro study
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18314244/
hot water extracts of coffee grinds and instant coffee solutions inhibited the multiplication of herpes simplex virus type 1, a representative enveloped DNA virus, when they were added to the culture medium of the virus-infected cells at a dose of one fifth the concentration suitable for drinking
I am therefore liberally applying a hot water extract of coffee grinds several times a day to prevent viral infections of my otorhinolaryngological spaces. Since SARS-Cov-2 is much more fragile than an enveloped DNA virus I trust that by applying a super-concentration five times greater than one fifth the concentration suitable for drinking, I will be fully protected against not only herpes, but Covid, gout and the vapours.
Nobody has proved this approach ineffective.
suppose you'd have to ask the cows
I'm not a cow. Does it reduce the effects of Covid-19 / Sars-CoV-2 in cows?
well, if you are a cow it'll work very well
It's nearly incredulous the self-built hills people are willing to die on rather than admit they don't know or are just wrong.
Ah Jesus , this stuff is way out of control.
I don't think you believe an ounce of this stuff anymore tbh . I think you are bad faith arguing and doing so to not lose face .
No, it's a hypothetical question.
Have you asked your doctor?
Currently unknown.
I haven't been following this.
If I am fully vaccinated but sick in hospital with Covid, is it likely that Ivermectin will help, do nothing, or make me worse?
Actually it's more like>>
You: "despite warnings of ineffectiveness"
Me: "FDa has not said 'ineffective'. Effectiveness is currently an unknown."
You:
I'm delighted that trials are still underway. If people know that they're getting an experimental treatment and agree to join the study knowing the pros and cons, and are monitored by a doctor, then that's fantastic. And maybe one of these trials will hit upon a dose or frequency of ivermectin that works, who knows?
However, where we are now is that we have people claiming that it works with no reliable evidence of this, and poor suckers the world over are lashing ivermectin into themselves with no idea of what they're taking, how much they should take, whether it's a treatment or a prophylactic...
As of now, the reliable data says it doesn't work. The used-car-salesman data says get it into you.
See welsh study.
Listerine advanced inactivated covid within 30 seconds in vitro.
Of course Listerine dont want to be a Covid cure.
Its not their business.
mono clonal antibody treatments at this stage
Vaccination is free, and triggers production of antibodies against Covid. Or, avoid that, get really sick, go to hospital, and get antibodies injected there.
maybe a few of the nasal sprays in development will work
I've heard from virologists as far back as a year ago that a long term perspective for vaccines is that they will become available in form of a nasal spray.
[To be clear: not questioning anything you say, I fully agree with your points..]
