Its going oldest to newest (top to bottom) - the peak your looking at I suspect is just after the HSE Hack when they started publishing deaths again.
Or were you referring to the pre Christmas surge before we locked down again (before the Kent variant took hold - the very large spike on the left?)
That's excellent, also shows the reduction in cases that vaccines have despite restrictions being lifted and the break in the link between cases and deaths.
Yeah this one. It looks to be around September or October 2020
Portugal (77% vaccinated) v Bangladesh (9.6% vaccinated)

I believe Ireland are due to get 2m doses of Novavax early next year. Talk at the moment is that they will be used for boosters, but offering them as first shots would, I think, be more likely to reduce the number of unvaccinated, since many of them seem to be people with no prior vaccine hesitancy who have concerns about mRNA vaccines.
It depends whether government's stated desire to get as many people vaccinated as possible is that pressing in reality.
Yes
Thought so.
True story, I was talking to an insurance broker on Wednesday and I mentioned what you posted to him, his reply, “unfortunately there is no vaccine yet for stupid”, what you posted is utterly incorrect, getting the vaccine does not invalidate insurance and lenders are not refusing finance to vaccinated people.
In fact, on the Irish Life Insurance website it says the following:
“If you have a significant underlying condition but are fully vaccinated, this is considered a positive factor when applying for life insurance.”
Your claim is further discredited by this article, but I can now see where you got your info, the three stooges in the video, they really are idiots, preying on the stupidity of others.

UK Vaccine Effectiveness:
Confirmed Cases v Deaths / Gordon Smith / Observable (observablehq.com) - Now shows dates and with country picker...
I added dates to the chart here: Confirmed Cases v Deaths / Gordon Smith / Observable (observablehq.com) Oct 11 + 18 is the small peak.
It’s not counter productive though, is it? We’ve 92% of the population over 16 jabbed and a promising uptake in the 12 - 15 age group.
This thread would confuse people into thinking there is an active debate on the efficacy of vaccines in the scientific community or Irish society. But there isn’t.
1 in 20 people are waiting, fair enough that is their choice. We’re going to move on without you.
Hopefully we will build a robust base of protection for those who can’t take the vaccine due to health reasons or for whom it will not offer protection due to health reasons.
Easily disprovable nonsense. Why would you post something like this?
These are good charts, but it should be highlighted that they do not just point to vaccine efficacy, but also show the effect of seasonality, behavioural changes, testing coverage, overall population seropositivity and immunity, expansion of medical capacity, and the effect of lockdowns. A counter example is Australia, whose data I believe wont show the same effect despite low vaccination, because of strict lockdowns.
23 year old in Waterford reported to have died of a clot following J&J vaccine.
My beautiful nephew Roy Butler , Waterford city Éire passed away today , after the miracle “jab”…..I’m heartbroken and so so angry

This is a bit shakey tbh to claim that this shows vaccine efficacy.
Many variables are at play here so this chart by it's own can't really lead to any serious conlusions, mainly because the most vulnerable and old, who wouldn't have beenaround for much longer anyway, passed at the beginning of when testing and some NPI measures were only introduced. They simply aren't around to die this year two respitory disease seasons later.
I'm not saying that the vaccines don't have some efficacy but beleiving the trial figures doesn't match up with the reported data, those often quoted original efficay figures are very likely to be revised down over and over again in the coming months and years in my opinion.
What's your source for the first sentence?
Fair points - To be clear the latest version now shows, Dates, Cases, Deaths and Vaccine Numbers - you can infer what you like!!!
For the UK - you can pick other countries here: Confirmed Cases v Deaths - Aug 18, 2021 / Gordon Smith / Observable (observablehq.com)
The Israel one is very interesting:
Notice the uptick in vaccine adoption after the Delta variant kicked in!
I would imagine the lads family is the source.
Two options- either it's a huge coincidence that this lad developed a life ending condition on the day he had a jab or the jab caused it. No way of sugar coating it- nobody wants it to be true but the fact is there are some who will have reactions to the jab in this case it seems to have been a fatal. I know of another guy who died and it was put down as sudden adult death syndrome, the family can't shake off the fact he received his jab 4 days before hand. People don't want to talk about or consider these cases unless they are of an anti vax persuasion. But the reality is (hopefully) the vaccine will do a lot more good than harm.
RIP to him and condolences to his family and friends.
That's not an answer to my question. My question was, how did this user find out this information from this person's family? Does he know them? If so, why did he link to a tweet if he already knows them?
If he doesn't know them, what is the source that it was a clot? You can have severe side effects that aren't related to clots, so where is this reported as claimed by this user?
I don't know to be honest. As I said I hope it isn't true, I've seen a lot of noise about it online this morning, I'd imagine the OP saw the same and linked it here.
I can't find anything online about a clot, the type of vaccine etc., so my guess is OP either completely made it up or copied and pasted a headline from an anti-vax Facebook page.
I'm not surprised news media aren't running the story are you? A single negative case would do untold damage to the vaccination rollout, especially in the younger groups. As I said all I've seen is stuff like this on twitter-
Snip- actually on second thoughts me posting twitter posts about this case is pointless.
But like everything I read these days both on mainstream media and social media I take it with a pinch of salt as we are being bombarded with half and distorted truths constantly from all angles at this stage.
I'm not surprised news media aren't running the story are you? A single negative case would do untold damage to the vaccination rollout, especially in the younger groups.
I mean on the RTE News homepage right now is an article about vaccine efficacy weakening under the Delta variant. I'm pretty sure running a story about a statistical outlier wouldn't be a big deal.
I would say the reason it isn't in the news is because 1) it's not true or 2) it's not newsworthy, as statistical outliers are inevitable.
But the fact that some people suffered clots, the fact that virtually all medicines have some reported side effects, and the statistically minute incidence, were widely reported on here for weeks, yet Ireland had among the highest uptake in vaccinations in the world, why on Earth would a death associated with the vaccine not be reported and what untold damage would you be referring to?
Is it this young lad? Tragic

An anti-vaxx Facebook page it is then.
Unlike a lot of people here I give my own opinion and don’t present it as fact. With this in mind I believe that seeing a story of a young healthy guy getting a vaccine so that he can avail of certain freedoms, to see his face splashed across newspapers of tv shows and hear interviews on main stream media would do damage to vaccinate take up numbers. As I said there will always be cases like this- people can have reactions to bee stings and peanuts after all.
The difference here is a potential negative effect a relatable tragic case would have. News media have been very reluctant to carry stories of the negative side of vaccines but I have started to notice a difference lately, perhaps due to the high level of uptake we’ve reached and therefore the less potential for discouragement to lower cohorts?
works the other way too- saw a story of a fit ex body building, mountain climber plastered all over the place a few weeks back who died of covid complications- turns out he had asthma and a history of steroid use. This story got lots of attention because it encouraged vaccination take up. The opposite story to this would be given a wide birth by the media I reckon.
Which media have been reluctant to carry verified stories of negative effects, please give one example of a newspaper/tv which you claim has that policy?
What is the source of the claim that the vaccine caused this, has there been an autopsy, has the coroner stated cause of death, or are you just speculating? Unlike some of the posters here, reputable outlets know better than to speculate about the cause of death until it is established.
So far, a google search shows up an obituary, a Twitter post from someone claiming to be a relative, and a nutty antivax Facebook account, and a couple of fools on boards.
Have you a verified source that has established cause of death, or are you just posting links to Twitter/Facebook posts. Surely you aren’t claiming these are impeccable sources?
Perhaps read my post again- I said it was my opinion that the media are reluctant- why/how can I give you an example of media being reluctant or having a certain policy unless I had access to their internal emails which discussed not going with a certain story! Bizarre request.
Also I linked no Twitter or Facebook stories and have stated that I hoped this story wasn’t true! I do not take what I read on either mainstream or social media as gospel, as I’ve stated in one of my posts.
you are playing the man and not the ball here And haven’t actually read my posts.
