Have seen it at least twice when there is a que going out onto the road. Cars on the woodies side trying to go into McDonald’s are watching the que and nearly get hit by a car coming in opposite direction. This was after McDonald’s reopened and was very busy. Don’t bother with it if que is out onto the road, it’s not a great junction if McDonald’s is busy
There was nearly an accident there yesterday evening. Coach coming in from Ballymanny, the coach tried slipping into the lane of cars queueing to enter Woodues/Tesco,
Something I cannot understand is why the back exit isn’t turned around so cars can only enter the KFC/McDonalds complex via that back road. Maybe there is a good reason why this can’t be done , I sure would like to know.
How was that "nearly an accident" ? It's either an accident or not.
Yes, cars should not be blocking free movement of traffic, but let's not turn it into sensationalism.
I've double checked - there have been no accidents recorded at this junction.
I've been stuck in the traffic it causes and would love to see a change. But it's major traffic delays that will win the argument as they can be proven.
Planning permission granted for a new sit-down restaurant & takeaway to the building where Swift Supplies used to be located. situated beside the new Aldi store currently being constructed.
Costa? 🤣
Seems I didn't hear the full conversation. So Flannels are opening in Debenhams and not M&S relocating. I must eavesdrop better in future :)

Debenhams unit.
Great new for Whitewater and good to see investment in the town. I was starting to wonder would WW be stuck with a lemon unit
Was up the town about an hour ago. & noticed the Spat opposite Penney’s closed.
is it gone? Or just closes earlier ( I have made purchases in the past near 22h00 )?
I think it closes at 9 now but i could be wrong
Yeah, I go by that Spar midweek, just after 9pm, and it is always closed (unfortunately).
why do you always assume a place has closed down when its simply closed for the day as normal? - you made a similar false assumption with the store 21 in whitewater when they were closed on a Sunday morning. Shops are fully entitled to change their hours without people making false assumptions that they have closed
Not going to get into an argument with you, I only asked a question. Since when is a question an assumption?
It was a simple question, don't see the need to attack someone for asking a question. as the saying goes there is no such thing as a bad question.
not the first time, hence the rant at the poster.
the previous time it caused a friends daughter concern as he relayed to her that someone on boards said a particular store had closed down and she worked there part-time.
Way way better ways of asking a question than saying "is it gone?"
More good news for the town. Pennys are hoping to build a 500,000 sq ft Distribution Centre out by Dr Pepper & Lidl in Great Connell.
At 50,000 square metres it will almost be twice the size of the Whitewater Shopping Centre.
And just as much empty space !
I wouldn't say they'd have much empty space. DSV look after supplying all the stores in Ireland, France, Spain & UK. They just need more space. I worked there for a few months last year till level 5 kicked in and all the shops closed. Everyone let go. It was busy when open though, a real eye opener.
Hope this gets the go-ahead. Great news for the Town.
Camile opening in Newbridge sometime in October. I've been getting sponsored ads on Instagram
I never heard of Camile but I like Thai food, and I see they already have places in Naas and Kilcullen. Would you rate their food? I like the look of the Chu Chee Curry!
Yeah its pretty good. Bit fresher looking and lighter than what you'd get from a typical Asian/Chinese takeaway. It'll be a good addition to the town but in fairness, yet again, its another takeaway. There has to be a market in town and hinterlands for a decent dine-in , fallon's of Kilcullen type restaurant
I'm originally from Dublin and moved to Newbridge in March. I would have also ordered takeaways from Camille when I lived in Dublin, as they have healthy options and show the number of cals per serving. The food is also delicious
Hi Jess, hope you don't mind a questions. We are torn (more so me) between buying the family home in D12 or buying in Newbridge. How do you find it so far? I do worry I'll end up regretting the move, mainly due to the commute back to work on the near the red cow (approx 30 mins). It's not long, but it's a draining motorway drive and in general, having less work options if we make the move. Any opinions at all would be welcome. DM if you prefer. Thank you!
Hi
I can only comment on our experience. We moved to Dublin 6 16 years ago to try it out, as we were waiting on our new house to be completed here. No offence to Dublin but we couldn’t get back to Newbridge fast enough.
you are right, about 30 minute drive to the Red Cow where there are plenty of options to park & ride. You can even get the 726 from Main Street to the Red COw for ( I think ) €5 one way. It runs every hour 24/7.
Newbridge is also a great town. The Curragj is on our doorstep 2 magnificent drives over the Wicklow Mountains within an hours drive from here.we also have the Mways on our doorsteps whi b can get us to the 3 major csouthern cities in a short time.
yes there have been social issues but what town in Ireland hasn’t got the same of worse? Besides I live about 1 km west of the town centre & we only heard of the issues through the media.
please don’t take my word as gospel but we never regretted mo big back.
hope what I have said us if some help?
My apologies for the spelling errors in my message above. I tried to edit but don’t know how to with the new format here.
I had to look it up myself
Aldi newbridge will open on October 28th
Happy days. I'm always spinning up to Kildare town or Naas for the shopping so it'll save some time driving.
