Commission proposal for a common vaccination card/passport for EU citizens
The ultimate goal of a vaccination passport would be to ensure that children who move between countries with different immunisation schedules do not miss out on crucial vaccinations. A similar scheme is already in place for pets and has helped boost vaccination rates, according to the European Commission.
Spent 90 mins on hold to the helpline only to be told "might take a few days to arrive after your second" and when I said well I'm traveling in one week I need it now, I was hung up on.
I saw on Twitter that TDs have access to a special HSE resolver team so I've emailed my local reps and one has responded already and is on the case.
Got my cert in the post today, 2.5 weeks after second dose. I was GP vaccinated and my GP Surgery are…slow…
glad to have it sorted anyway.
It's probably possible to fly to Germany with a test, get your HSE papercard digitised in an obliging pharmacy and be back home before the covid helpline would even have answered your call. Ludicrous really.
A couple of the pharmacies in France also told me they can't do it, but a couple also said they could. I don't need it anymore now so haven't gone in to a shop to do it but have no reason to believe they wouldnt based on their emails.
One pharmacy also told me the vaccine centres would make it if I was stuck, and a friend got an American cert validated in a hospital in France, so it is possible for non citizens and non residents with foreign vaccines. Lots of news articles about this out there.
I've also heard this about the vaccine centres, I read somewhere that they have all received guidance on how to do it but mostly aimed to help US tourists pretty embarrassing for us Irish to rock up because our own bureaucracy is such a shambles.
I'm in the exact same boat, 2nd jab last Thursday in CityWest and still nothing!
At least now I know we are not alone. I was worrying that they got my details wrong, but it seems it is common enough, so I assume they just haven't got to our files yet (which is kinda ridiculous as the whole thing should be automated and streamlined).
What I learned today.
You can scan your own QR Code to make sure its Valid 🧐
Just scanned mine and all I got was a full page of computer jargon.

I received my second Pfizer yesterday at 12 o clock and had my digital cert by email at 11pm last night.
Crazy quick.
Family member fully vaccinated for 4 months, all other family members have received their DCC except her.
Have tried registering her for one online but keep getting an error and to ring helpline. She's rang a few times but gets fed up waiting and I don't blame her. Currently on hold myself for 90+ minutes..
Anyone know if they'll let me speak on her behalf? Don't want to be hung up on as soon as I get through. Can't ring with her beside me as we live in different counties.
I'm hoping they'll be able to sort me/her out if I get through. Fingers crossed.
They probably won't let you tbh. Have your tried contacting your local TD, they have access to a dedicated email address to escalate queries from constituents.
I have contacted my local Sinn Féin TD and he has told me that they can only make contact in extreme cases ie death of relative abroad or medical treatment abroad. I also contacted my FG td but he has not yet replied.
Yes they will speak to you as I had to do the same for my son. Your better off ringing the +353768885513 number and pressing option 2. However despite numerous calls etc I had to end up emailing a td and it was sorted within a day
I know of someone who got their EU cert emailed to them 40 minutes before their second jab
Apologies if asked already - my passport is in my maiden name and covid cert in married name. Should I change names to be sure or bring marriage cert?
I'd get the Covid certificate changed to match the passport.
I had different forenames on my Covid certificate and ID documents. I got my Covid certificate changed to match my ID.
Here is the link to change it online.
Finally got my cert sitting in my email after getting the second jab last Thursday.
Got my cert at half past midnight
Hi how did you get on?
I'm currently on hold for 40 mins also for a family member.
I rang the 1800 807008 number.
I just hope they don't turn the phones off at one o clock for lunch.
I was on for just over 90 mins there earlier. Popped out for a smoke and when I came back in it had been answered. Luckily I caught it before the guy hung up on me.
Thank you so much for that. Walked into a pharmacy in France today with my HSE card and got sorted in 2 mn.
I've been trying to scan my DCC with the Dutch covid scanner app, but it keeps saying invalid. Anybody experience any issues with having their Irish DCCs scanned abroad?
Does it scan correctly with the Irish version?
Not me personally. But a relative went to EU country last week and no problem with scanning of Irish covid cert on phone or paper print out.
Scan's perfectly on the Irish one, maybe it's the time difference? It does say something about there being an issue with visitors phone's times being different.
That's reassuring, most likely the time thing then.
Some asian countries doing the same
Are you trying to scan it into the Dutch app? Looks like they made a mess of it based on the reviews. I can't find their scanner app to check against it.
Some Asian countries are doing the same
