tbh, I'm generally overstocked enough for whey as I wait for the offers. I'd like to buy Irish, but it's one of those things none of the suppliers can compete with. If I was stuck, there's a local enough Discount Supplements that'd I'd go in store for.
HP Nutrition often gets mentioned as having good service - https://www.hpnutrition.ie/My-Protein-Impact-1kg?search=myprotein
€20/kg for whey looks on the expensive side on Rosnutrition
Ah, crap. I just put a massive order in with Myprotein as hate the whole slobbering with discount codes and them messing around with the base prices every other week. Only ever put an order in when the basket prices are actually decent. It shipped yesterday so let's see.
What's the take on https://www.rosnutrition.com/ie ?
So temporarily at least, what are the Irish alternatives for getting some Whey? I am sure there is a range of prices.
Kinetica I am familiar with. Discount Supplements is a shop iirc so they may have a few brands & deliver within Ireland.
Any other places?
I'm sure I read before it does, but am not even going to start tracking that down. I suppose some probably going directly into "protein milks" and the other protein products that the multiples are carrying.
I was wondering that the base ingredient might come from here . the 2KG thing seems new though
If I recall correctly, we actually export the vast majority of the whey that is produced from the cheese making process. Anyway, after the early orders, things had settled down to near pre-brexit timeframes - seems to have gone back to delays. I know in Britain they're saying there's a shortage of HGV drivers (for every other possible reason, except brexit), which I guess could be impacting. I've had a few (non-protein) orders disappear into the blackhole that is fastways warehousing over the pandemic though.
Why hasn't Kerry foods or similar got into this? kind of ironic that on cow island we have to get the stuff from the Brits.
Got the following reply from Bulk on my order.
So, maybe it is a case of wait & see can they find a work around or else order less than 2kg in total of animal products.
"Hello,
We're hugely sorry for the delay regarding your recent bulk™ order -
We have been shipping well for months now. After investigation - we discovered that sadly due to a recent un-notified change to personal allowance import rules, we are unable to send orders containing over 2kg of animal origin products. For us, that includes popular products such as Pure Whey Protein, Liquid Egg Whites and other customer favourites.
We were not made aware of this change coming into effect prior to sending out your order (otherwise we wouldn’t have sent it and informed you), and as such your parcel has been refused entry into Ireland and will be returned to us. You will be fully refunded for the cost of your order and shipping, and the refund will be with you in the next 2-3 days.
We are truly aware of how disappointing and frustrating this experience is for you, and it is absolutely not the service we should be providing you as a valued bulk™ customer.
The teams are working hard on processing your refund and ensuring we have a new delivery solution for orders going ‘Live’ over the weekend (we thought we might need a back-up).
We can’t apologise enough for the inconvenience this must have caused. The experience hasn’t been to the usual high standards we pride ourselves on and we are working tirelessly to resolve this issue as soon as possible. We understand the impact of not receiving your order in good time on your health & training.
If you need any more information or have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at hello@bulk.com. Team bulk™"
Ordered from Bulk on the afternoon of 25th July & it shipped the same day. For some reason it took till the 2nd of August to arrive in the country, so 8 days or so, which is crazy.
Currently going into the 6th August and no sign of it, last it says on the 2nd August - non EU presented to customs.
Sent Bulk an email earlier today, will see what they say.
Very frustrating.
Still waiting for my order from 20th of July. Not ideal!
Thank you for getting in touch to let us know that you have not yet received order 311XYZ
Please note that we are experiencing minor delays with deliveries to Ireland due to customs, however, we are actively working to get this resolved.
This was sent to you on 17-07-2021 and delivery can take up to 21 days.
If you have still not received your order within the mentioned timeframe, please let us know so that we can resolve this for you.
Thank you for your patience.
In the meantime, if there is anything else that we can do, then please do not hesitate to get in touch and a member of our team will be happy to help.
I was just on to support who said my order (which has only been showing as "Departed The Hut" on 26 July and no update since) will be delivered by Friday, so fingers crossed.
I've also opened a PayPal dispute in the meantime, as is standard when an item has not been received by the expected delivery date.
Ordered over €100 worth of products from MyProtein, delivery date was expected to be July 21 - 23
Looking at the tracking, it says July 25th, Arrived in Country.
I just contacted MP tonight about this. Based on the replies ye got, I except I'll be told to wait it out another few weeks which is not ideal.
I don't want to wait 3/4 weeks for something I can easily get elsewhere without that wait time. This looks like an issue a few people are/have had with them recently. So I think it is perfectly reasonable to look somewhere else more reliable for future purchases of a product many other companies sell. I don't see what is childish about that at all. Should I just keep ordering in the hopes things might be better next time or just go with someone I know will deliver it within a reasonable timeframe? I get that Brexit is causing some logistical problems so my hope when I originally posted was to find a company delivering from an Irish warehouse.
This is standard practice. Most places will say wait up to 28 days to allow it time to arrive before refunding. Delayed parcels will usually arrive in that time frame, if it doesn't arrive after 28 days it's actually lost or misdelivered and they can issue a refund.
Otherwise everyone would be asking for a refund after a week. Bit childish to not shop somewhere because the delivery company have misplaced it.
at least my one seems to be in Ireland

Hi
Thank you for contacting Fastway Couriers.
This is currently in our Central Sorting Hub awaiting full customs clearance.
If you keep updated on www.fastway.ie tracking and it will provide you with any additional information. This should be out to you over the next 24 to 48 hours.
Let me know if I can assist with anything else"
I have always ordered from bulk powders, never had any issues until now.
Ordered on the 23rd July and it was dispatched immediately but never received it. 4 days ago I got an email apologising for the delay saying they are no longer allowed to ship animal products >2kg to Ireland. It was stopped at the FedEx facility in Basildon and sent back to Bulk.
They told me they are working on a solution but have said a refund is being actioned - critically low on the whey .. about 3/4 scoops left.
I ordered on the 19th.
They just said the order had been sent by them and tough luck it can take up to 21 days. Get back in touch with us then if it still has not arrived after this timeframe. I won't be ordering from them again.
I had one that was slow, and it was to do with the free hand sanitizer! But that was back at the start of the year iirc.
seems to have gone very slow, my order with MyProtein is with customs since about the 25th July
I know it's not much consolation but I've never heard any issues like this before with MyProtein. I would get in touch with them to see whether somethings gone wrong in the background.
I've had decent delivery times with Bulk this side of Brexit also
HPNutrition are very good with delivery - will be significantly dearer than myprotein but it will come the next day in my experience. Some decent prices at times on the likes of ON etc. €48 for 2.2kg, PES Select 1.8kg for €40 and free delivery over €50 think.
What are the best alternatives to my protein? Ordered from them over two weeks ago and still nothing. Contacted support who said that delivery can take 21 days. This seems ridiculous. I don't mind paying more elsewhere for a better delivery time?
my Protein 5KG €44.56 including delivery today
I haven't paid anything more, or it's been marginal - no different than before Brexit, you just have to hold off (if you can) for the fairly regular 45% or 50% off.
I bought a couple of kilos of MyProtein. Seems to arrive within 5-6 days of ordering now (to Dublin).
Whenever I see "new and improved flavour" I always buy it in the drop-down list of flavours. I'm convinced it's a marketing ploy, it always tastes indistinguishable from the last batch as far as I can tell, no matter the flavour.
Sometimes the "out there" flavours can be surprisingly good. Eton Mess is a better strawberry flavour than strawberry itself... The Pastel de nata is also really good, kind of a cookie dough / batter flavour.
