Commission proposal for a common vaccination card/passport for EU citizens
The ultimate goal of a vaccination passport would be to ensure that children who move between countries with different immunisation schedules do not miss out on crucial vaccinations. A similar scheme is already in place for pets and has helped boost vaccination rates, according to the European Commission.
I would not expect any issues. My experience of this is that checks are only cursory, family member travelled with incorrect spelling.
Your DOB will match passport, and who would forge a document with an incorrect name in this way? Bring your original vaccine card too if you are concerned.
Relax, fill in your locator forms for destination country, and enjoy your travels.
My friend is in Portugal. Came via Belfast, fully vaccinated 6 weeks, no cert received before he left on 24th.Got antigen test in Belfast to travel.
Still no sign of cert, unable to get through to helpline.
He is returning Monday to Belfast. Will he need a test or will his hse vaccination card do on arrival to Belfast. Unable to get an answer anywhere
Hell no. I ain't gonna waste their time on that one. I was ringing them this morning to ask can they send it to me via email. it would be much easier, to be honest.
Really! That's interesting and a bit unexpected! Presuming that the QR code is the only thing that really matters (otherwise you could use the HSE vaccine slip), then perhaps a bit of tippex and a biro would sort the misprints (er, maybe that's not the best idea)...
Quite important this. Your basic QR scanner that comes with a phone is usually designed solely to interpret website names and the like. The Covid QR code isn't that at all.
What I did is to take a good quality picture, crop it in the Gallery editor and then verify that a website like https://covid19passbook.netlify.app/ could actually read it properly. However, the Covid app is probably way way easier to deal with that than kind of messing!
People have been saying the official advice is not to laminate it, probably because the surface becomes very shiny and a camera has a hard time filtering out any reflections. Even phones are a bit tricky - mine has quite a reflective screen - taking a picture of my phone, I end up with a QR code overlayed with the windows and trees outside 😆
I added it to the covid app and just screenshot it from there so I have an 'offline' version as well. Used LongShot to get a full shot of the full cert.
the covid app works offline as well. you don't need a data connection to open the cert.
You’re making this more complicated than it needs to be.
Download the Covid app, click the EU Covid cert at the top of the app, point it at the QR code on the letter. Job done.
Covid app is available without phone signal or wifi so your covered.
Does anyone know if I can just show my paper vaccine card (from NI) to dine in Republic of ireland? Or do I need electronic type QR code?
I have tried to get the electronic one but they look to be swamped...
I think completely incompetent, overwhelmingly arrogant and disrespectfully dismissive of their clients situation might be a better description than swamped.
In relation to your query, I expect the stipulation will be that you have the QR Code but how it works in practice is anyone's guess.
Do I need to bring my paper cert with me? I have ice hockey training tomorrow in Belfast, traveling from galway
"Paul Reid said the HSE has provided the information for 97% of those who are fully vaccinated to the Government for the purpose of getting a Digital Covid Cert.
He said emails bouncing back and incorrect postal addresses have caused issues for people receiving their certs."
Paper should be fine. The regulation stipulates the HSE vaccine card can be used so you'd imagine that should transfer to NI card
Did he say what happened with the remaining 3% that HSE did not provide to government?
I got mine in January and only received the cert last Sunday
More people i know who have not received them than have. Thankfully in my hometown none pubs or restaurants are bothering asking for them
Brilliant to hear thanks
Well after getting through after 4 hours yesterday, within 12 hours my daughter had her email with QR code.
I think it's important she got it sorted, as boosters starting soon and it might go through on the system easier next time.
Thanks for that I just rang restaurant and they confirmed paper card showing both vaccines is fine.
Apologies if this has been asked before, had a quick look but didn’t see anything, got my covid Cert earlier in the week and going abroad tomorrow. Just noticed that my cert doesn’t have a unique certificate indentifier - the section is just blank.
Is this going to be a problem...
If you scan it into the Covid app does it show you all the information?
Nope, doesn’t scan at all. Uh oh.
Where you going? Can’t speak for other countries but went to U.K. last week, nothing required going there and nobody at Cork airport were scanning just showed them and they were grand.
Ya I didn't have mine yet so today I was going to ring and prepare for a long wait then it says vaccine card is okay and I was that does me not waiting on a phone for 2.5 hours (My dentist was waiting that long while they were doing a root canal on me to get through)
I got my 2nd jab yesterday afternoon, the vaccine cert was in my inbox at 6am this morning and it scanned straight into the Covid App, I am delighted.
I thought it wouldn't scan into the app until 7 day's after the 2nd dose.
My sons cert came yesterday by post
Both the DOB and date of vaccination are wrong .
Should he just email that address to get it corrected ?
Need to ring the helpline and spend a few hours on hold.
They said that email address is for sending in documents that are needed for proof when their system is missing one of the doses.
I wouldn't send anything to it without it being requested first.
May as well wait until things calm down a bit so
he doesn’t need it for travel yet
My partner got his second shot in the National Show Centre in Swords on Wednesday and got the cert yesterday morning. I got my second shot there yesterday and still no sign of the cert. Two friends got their second shot yesterday in different parts of the country and received their certs overnight via email. How are things so inconsistent!?
My husbands cert states date of vaccination 21 May 2021 but he received his 2nd vaccination on 23 April 2021. Does it really matter as he’s deemed fully vaccinated regardless?
Have you checked spam / "promotions" or similar sub-inboxes?
The other three you mention are all overnight, so there's only one inconsistency and its more likely your email provider/client.
