Commission proposal for a common vaccination card/passport for EU citizens
The ultimate goal of a vaccination passport would be to ensure that children who move between countries with different immunisation schedules do not miss out on crucial vaccinations. A similar scheme is already in place for pets and has helped boost vaccination rates, according to the European Commission.
Is socrates the one that my GP uses that looks like it was written in the 1990s?
HealthOne looks like its 1990s, cause it is. Lineage goes back to DOS
Socrates looks very very Windows XP
HPM looks like Windows 7/Office 2007
These are all sold by the same company, who own the latter two - HealthOne is a Belgian system imported and localised here.
There are some other systems with sub-1% market shares. The Competition Authority / CCPC appear to have been asleep when the mega-merger happened.
It may have been socrates. all big clunky buttons. Like something i wrote in VB6 a VERY long time ago. The systems i've seen while at hospital appointments have looked equally old fashioned.
I think its written in VB.net targetting .net 1.1. Certainly using WinForms that old!
fugly doesn't quite cover it.
So basically we are at the mercy of outdated systems that should be discontinued years ago. Not an exciting prospect.
Sorry I'm just venting today.
I guess the ransomwere attack didn't help and such enhancements (like an upload option in GP system) is at the bottom of the HSE list.
Fully vaccinated since 31st of January and still no sign of my digital cert. I phoned the helpline on Friday and was on hold for 3.5 hours. I checked the online portal and apparently no record of me. Back on the helpline today (26th) and after 7 hours I just gave up.
All those GP systems are still developed/maintained. Not quite as bad as it sounds being old in design.
Got through to helpline this morning due to name being wrong
Rang at 8.33, answered at 10.27
could have been a lot worse but looking like minimum 2 hours
advised to expect email within 72 hours
the systems used by GPs are nothing to do with the HSE. I said they were old-fashioned from an interface perspective. That doesn't mean they should be discontinued. It may be the case that they have an update written but rolling out updates is a slow process. That is certainly an issue with the one of the products that my company has.
Thanks, ElNino, I thought the word "recovery" referred to recovering your cert if the HSE had failed to deliver it, not to certs for recovered patients (doh). There should clearly be another site or page for those of us who have undelivered vaccine certs.
Also, looking for information on this on the HSE and Gov.ie sites is absurdly difficult. I can usually navigate websites easily, but these people have managed the most user-unfriendly sitesin history.
I've never agreed with those who argue that indoor dining/snacking/drinking should be open to all or to nobody, as otherwise one is discriminating. I'm beginning to have second thoughts if the basis for exclusion is the total incompetence of those whose business it is to record and process the data.
I rang 3 times today. Have vaccine since 25th June and looking for cert
1st call. Dropped after 2 hours 6 mins
2nd call. Dropped after 2 hours 24 mins
3rd call. Dropped after 2 hours 15 mins
so 7 Fookin hours on phone and nothing to show. Really really annoying. And call just drops all of a sudden
also tried for a few hours last week too
doing my head in
I guess I’ll have to go through the same sh1t again tomorrow
Same story here. Due to travel Thursday morning. I've been on the phone all day since 9AM and every hour or two they disconnect me. I was vaccinated almost 2 months ago, but still no cert, but I guess me travelling to visit a very sick family member in the US isn't as important as people wanting their Certs for indoor dinning. The Irish government and the HSE have been behind some serious clusterfucks, but I think this may be the winner!
For those getting disconnected after around 2 hours, are you using the Three network,?
Try landline or Vodafone
The cert isn't going to get you in to the US either though. It isn't recognised by them and there's still a ban on non citizens anyway
I take your point.
I guess it's a waiting game, and I'm not the most patient person.
I have been vaccinated by my GP since 18th July and due to travel next week,
To-date I have over 5 days spent 25 hrs "call waiting", I managed to get through last Wednesday to be told the issue was with my GP who I know well - he has given me a screen-shot showing that all details were entered correctly - so basically a lie from the help-line operator. I am lucky in that I can leave my mobile on speaker while doing my work - but for those that can not no online portal, helpline open during business hours only, numerous calls dropped, etc.
I am lucky enough to work in the private sector and I know that if this level of "diss-service" were offered to any of our customers - heads would roll and rightly so!
This is not rocket science - and maybe its the end of a long period with the longed for prospect of a holiday in-sight (1st world problem - I know), but really frustrated.
I hope you get sorted - holidays are very important. Can understand the frustration and reminds me of some lengthy issues I had with Virgin TV /UPC/NTL/Cablelink over the years.
Have you looked at whether your vaccine card will work in the destination country?
I know that, but I'll need the cert to get back to Ireland!
My daughter is having similar dropped calls today. She's been fully vaccinated since April.
It's infuriating.
Why they can't use an email system or an online reg system is beyond me.
Can't believe it. Have just received the cert in less than 24 hours after getting through in the first place.
Got my one in less than a week after the second dose.
Cheers, no sign yet anyway
Did you ever get your DCC mate?...I still haven't received mine despite getting through to the DCC
Other forms of proof are accepted too
https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/travel_and_recreation/travel_to_ireland/travel_to_ireland_during_covid.html
Haven't received it :( Do i have to spend 5 hours listening to that music?
Bit concerning as lots are getting theres in just 24 hours
Credit where it's due, cert landed in, amended, this morning before 7
My better half also rang last Thursday and got through, still hasn't received the DCC. Not sure why some folks get theirs and the rest of us dont
She did contact Dublin Airport by email and they confirmed the HSE vaccine card would be accepted so that takes the pressure off.
I am guessing bars/restaurants in ROI aren't accepting the little paper card as proof of vaccine from NI?
1 hour 6 mins to get through this morning so things are improving
