Commission proposal for a common vaccination card/passport for EU citizens
The ultimate goal of a vaccination passport would be to ensure that children who move between countries with different immunisation schedules do not miss out on crucial vaccinations. A similar scheme is already in place for pets and has helped boost vaccination rates, according to the European Commission.
Sure loads of people on here have received it and only got the 2nd dose of the vaccine the day before. I know the vaccine isn't effective for 7 days, not sure what that's go to do with me putting it on my phone...?
did you use an NHS number to avail of the vaccine
The certs are being sent out in the days straight after dose 2. It's up to the person to know when they are considered fully vaccinated for domestic measures and then international travel
The certificate is proof that you received a vaccine and not proof of immunity.
Apologies, I wasn't criticising you. I was just making the point that I think it's too soon to send them out if you've only got the vaccine the day before as the vaccine isn't effective for 7 days and 14 days for the Delta variant.
If protecting the public is the aim of the vaccine pass, then they (the Government) should hold off on sending them out until the vaccine is effective, i.e. at least 7 days after the second vaccine.
Sorry, I took you up wrong so. Yes, I guess they shouldn't send them out until the week has passed or whatever, but most people probably know that they aren't considered "fully protected" until then - Lord knows, they've been given enough information!
Rang the second my phone hit 8.30 and still on hold and getting the 90 minute message. Could they find no one with an Irish accent to do the recording
Scanned my cert that I received this morning, having been 2nd dosed last night
It scans as "Invalid" and says you have to wait 7 days to be considered vaccinated
So anybody getting the cert the next day or in a few days isn't instantly covered
Just got cut off after 2 1/2 hours holding. 😡
seen some date checking of vaccine certs in Dublin airport...
Vaccine cert is all it is... a certification of vaccination....
Onus is on the person to make sure they adhere to whatever local rules are in place, and any repercussions of not adhering to them
I just scraped in so. Should have the new cert in about 5 days. Got through eventually after 2 hours 20. They wouldn't deal with my wife's change however as she wasn't beside me to grant them permission to speak to me on her behalf.
Doesn't matter to me, won't be going anywhere for the next week anyway lol
How do you scan the cert?
there is a button for it on the covid tracker app.

I must have all the luck this morning with I got in touch with them after a bad run last week. I had to get my Dad's cert changed as well as my own and I was expecting that they wouldn't deal with me for my Dad's one but they did, thankfully. My Dad is in his 70s and wouldn't have the patience for these things.
I got second dose of Pfizer on 14th July and have not received digital cert yet. Should I wait another bit before making a call?
It was from reading your previous post that I tried to make the change on behalf of my wife. But computer said 'No'.
The wife is sorted now anyway so touch wood, we're all set for France🙂
I got vaccinated in NI if that counts....it is proving an absolute nightmare to get digital cert...seemingly a lot easier if you have a British passport...mine is irish.
Yes have NHS number and gp in North where my folks live
1. Northern Ireland NI CCS (COVID Certification Service)

2. Create/Login to your NIDA account with your username and password.

3. EU Information on Vaccination by a “non-EU country”
i.e. What will be the practical steps for a citizen to get an EU Digital COVID Certificate?
EU citizens who were vaccinated in a non-EU country can request the EU Digital COVID Certificate from the Member State of their nationality or residence. The EU Digital COVID Certificate will be issued, if there is a reliable proof of vaccination and if the structure of the health system allows for it. For further information, please address your Member State of nationality or residence.

Thanks for that I have already gone through or tried multiple times the issue is around verification of Irish passport, I have sent multiple copies and pictures but still getting nowhere.
The phone line just disconnects due to it being so busy.
My wife and I both got our 2nd dose Pfizers from different GPs in late April/Early May. I got my certificate in the post last week, but she has had nothing. Checked GP as to the information they provided to HSE, as the new HSE certificate recovery website says her details cannot be traced or do not correspond to what's on their system. So stuck with the hellhole phoneline.
The whole performance is a disgrace and exactly what I feared from the HSE, who are useless at data management or any kind of management. THinkins of bothering my TD, which I know is inappropriate, but its a last resort against useless civil servants
I got my 2nd Vaccine on 25th June and no sign of cert in email or post. (Both wife and I got 2nd vaccine on same day in the same place and she got her cert 2 weeks ago)
does anyone know on the way home from Portugal to Ireland if I need this for sure? Or would the vaccination cards I got at doctors work.
Same as obi604, both myself & my wife received our 2nd pfizer vaccine towards the end of June from our GP, nothing received yet in the post.
We are not going abroad this year though would the vaccination cards from the GP get you into a restaurant here?
If you used your NHS number to get the the jab it is on your record and you can get the digital cert in their app....
NHS App (not the track and trace)
download, signup (requires your NHS number, taking a picture of your photo ID and sending a quick video)
The app is geo locked, so if you have your app store location set to Ireland it won't show up, change it to UK
You will have 2 certs, 1 for each injection in it...
edit: forgot to mention, it took all of 10/15 mins to do all the signup stuff, then less than 24 hours for it to be reviewed and approved to view my certs.... used them for travelling last week
Thanks for that I have app etc. The one I got is "covidcertni" it was one linked on site. NHS app is not for NI
The issue is the verification I sent it all on Friday and heard nothing at all.
The HSE recovery certificate website is only for people who had Covid in the last 6 months. They don't have a website yet for people who were vaccinated but didn't receive the EU digital certificate.
Yes, instead they have a phone number you can call, but when you call it, they put you on hold for a few hours and then hang up on you!
For those who were vaccinated at GP and didn't receive your cert yet. Check with your GP first if they provided HSE with relevant data. Mine didn't and from my understanding they are waiting for HSE to roll out some sort of software (I was told it is called Socrates) which will help them to upload data to HSE. Be sure that GP has all your data correct (email, address) because if not than again you will not get cert and will have to call the DOH helpline. It seems the roll-out is from practice to practice and it takes time.
Not sure what to believe in at this stage, as last week on Thursday they told me at GP that the data has been uploaded, only to tell me today that they need software.
If someone has any insight into the maze the HSE systems are it would be great.
Socrates is the GPs private system (one of the big three, possibly the most common by now), the HSE are probably arranging for an easier bulk uploader from it to be written by the manufactuer. Very odd that it'd be late compared to some of the older and more complicated GP systems around - basically all of which come from the same company!
