There's no proper IMAX in Ireland - all IMAX-lite. Indeed, IFI is the only 70mm capable cinema in the country AFAIK.
Looks like Space Jam 2 is a turkey ,one of those $150m cost films that needs $300m to breakeven, and its banned in China , upwards of a $100m loss on the cards

Very disappointed to hear BBC have axed The Film Programme, probably one the best produced film shows and podcasts out there. Scorsese, Chris Nolan, Ken Loach and a 100 other filmmakers and actors have written an open letter asking BBC to reverse its decision.

The Saint? Cos that's an IP bursting with eager fans. Had a Google, and looks like Paramount are the studio holding the keys - guess they need content for their own streaming service. Dexter Fletcher is attached to direct so presumably any spontaneous musical numbers will be well directed if nothing else 😄

I was thinking there was a reboot recently with Eliza Dushku. Looked it up and it was released in 2017 as a tv movie, but made in 2012/2013 when attempting to launch a new series.
And in imdb, that's actually Eliza's last acting credit.

I should have expanded. I have enjoyed Waterworld each time I saw it and doesn't entirely deserve its reputation. But that reputation is built from filming on water being a total unmitigated nightmare. And remains thus to this day so either Waterworld: The Show sets itself on land , goes CGI ( eww) or becomes another cautionary tale of shooting out at sea
True. The difficulties Spielberg had with 'Jaws' is legendary and I don't think he's touched the water since.
As for the show, I don't see where they can go with it. But, you're probably correct, it'll be CGI more than likely. Can't see a TV show basing itself entirely on the water. Either way, even if I like the film (although it's not great in fairness), I don't find myself with any great excitement for a TV show based in that world. Although, always happy to be proven wrong.
It's funny though. If you had pitched something like this just 10 years ago, you'd have been escorted out of the building before you finished the first sentence.
True, it's the great IP gold rush of our times. Particularly the 90s flavour, now that that decade has become trendy.
What I will say is I'd have thought Snowpiercer couldn't work as a TV series and yet it became a solid favourite by season 2s end. Waterworld could work if handled right; maybe they'll angle it as a soggy Game of Thrones, competing atolls scheming for resources - which would limit the need for watery scenes.
Genuinely would not have recognised him at all, can't believe it's been nearly 20 years but I'm glad he's doing well.

IIRC he retired from acting to write novels; all naval based I believe. Was supposedly a very prickly man to work with, not one to put up with any nonsense from anyone.
The 100 was good for about 2.5 seasons IMO, from about the midway point of Season 1 to the end of Season 3. Season 2 being genuinely gripping TV and the show's high-point - but became a classic case of Network TV demanding the same hits over and over.
I suppose what Waterworld has in its favour is both a fairly unexplored apocalyptic premise, alongside a relatively narrow mythology - so lots of room to grow if the scripts are right.
it was really good, but it had the Space angle then fish out of water. If this show starts well into it then you could see it going pear shaped quicker.

Yeah he looks about how I'd imagine someone at 91. A lot of weight gone from his face, though he hasn't gone full skeletor ala Prince Philip.
