However, Revenue do not and should not be enforcing health laws. In a similar area, Revenue will not be allowed to inspect the kitchen for rodent droppings, nor will they be going around checking that fire escapes are unlocked?

Who said they were enforcing them?

Revenue are more than entitled to carry out investigations in their remit. If they happen to gather intelligence on other breaches of law they can report it.

What this shows is the state is willing to make an example of people who don't follow the Covid rules. Hopefully it serves as a lesson to any proprietors that plan on only paying lip service to things this time around.

Looks like the rover will be returning, but not as we know it. The reference to volume in live music is perplexing. I hope this is not creating the space for an end to live music as we know it. time will tell.

Not big into live music in Pubs usually. Hard to talk and hear.

Would make much more sense to open on the 1st and get another busy weekend's takings in. The vaccinated population isn't going to change much over the course of one weekend in early July

There is, I suppose, a small tiny chance that the government will over rule NPHET and bring it forward to the 1st.

Word of caution that the overnight leaks for outdoor dining said May 24th and they ended up being a full 2 weeks later when actually announced. July 12th still possible i'd say

That July 5th date is great an all but we’ve seen dates come and go over the past year and a half so I’m personally not get too excited until it’s actually set in stone. I’m not normally that way but this pissing pandemic has changed me in that regard. If it does come to pass I’ll make an offering to whichever god has had a hand in it, but not until then. And I realise we are in a much different place now then we were a year ago and thank **** to that but this Indian variant in the UK and boris Johnson not being as bullish as he normally is is making me wait a bit.

They've already said they aren't final for July and will be reviewed in a few weeks time

Since April there’s that caveat that the next stage of reopening is dependent on how the rest goes. That’s why I’m not being overly pessimistic or overly optimistic. When it happens, it happens.

One thing that really pissed me off last year...I saw it in person and I saw people moaning about it on here...

A group of friends would be together in the pub and they might be all sat together or talking closely to one another so they could hear better or whatever.
The next minute, some twat would go and complain to the manager about people getting too close to each other and demanded he/she do something...
I read on here that someone left a pub in Galway as they were "disgusted" that no one was wearing a mask whilst they drank...

Media hyperbole ramping up. Saw something today that we now have 28 more Indian cases than this time last week.

Given we have about 3000 cases per week, putting that the Indian variant is less than 1% of it wouldn't have the same headline impact.

15% of our population are fully vaccinated. Nearly all elderly people will be 2nd dosed in the next few weeks.

Media are still keeping quiet on whether any elderly people in Britain who have had two vaccine doses have died or even become ill off this.

How much of this have we had- spoofery and panic over shyt that they forget about in a week when the public doesn't bite.

The South African variant. Brazil variant. Danish mink farms. Some disease in children long forgotten about.

I member when I thought the Russians were gonna drop an atomic on dublin because we could sneak an English sub in our harbor. Now it's the variants.

If I could offer one piece of advise to the kids coming up behind me, it's, relax things are not as ****e as the news tells you. You'll really be grand. That's it. Go forth and have as much fun as possible. I know I will.

I hope this isn't going to become the new €9 meal.

My guess is that with loud music, people have to speak louder, or shout.

Yea it's hilarious! "Only in Ireland"....

Without live music in all the towns/tourist areas, going to the pub will be a fairly sanitized experience, most people probably won't even stay for the 105 mins anyways...
