Not in July, when we had them until, what, October. They dragged their heels, then put in the most idiotic of rules to try and dissuade people from going anyway (food, time limits). If NPHET had their way, we would not have had a single draught pint in our hands for a single day since mid March 2020. By July that would be 16 months, and let's be honest they'd love to not open it in July either. In April 2020 Simon Harris gave an interview, behind a bleedin paywall, to the Indo where he stated that he thought pubs wouldn't be able to operate until a vaccine was available. If you recall that far back, the general consensus was that a vaccine, between development, testing and so on, was at best 3 to 4 years away. Some predicted there might never be one. So just for clarity, our health minister stated that in his view the people of Ireland would probably not get to have a night out until some point in 2023 or 2024, and that was pretty much tough shyt as far as he was concerned, three years without a night out, just go with the flow, hold firm, we're all in this together. Comments like that are a terrifying insight into the minds of these people. By my count, we have had 3.5 months, about 14 weekends, of some degree of indoor pub access since mid March last year. I would be fairly sure that it must rank among the lowest in the Western world, and that it had the most bizarre rules when it was allowed.

Incredulously they are still talking about rigorous cleaning details and 2m distance instead of about ventilation and air changes. Im not sure if it's just pure stupidity or they know it's too expensive to ventilate, so they're playing out this cleaning charade again to keep up appearances.

The virus was re imported by London based Irish ex pats because that useless coont Mehole couldn't be bothered stopping them and he thought politely asking them to spend their entire holiday in a bedroom on their own would do enough to stop it spreading. 95% UK variant by mid January- put simply, all those days we had 8000 cases, we would have had circa 800. The weeks and weeks and weeks we hovered between 500 to 700, we would have had around 25 to 35 per day. I'd like to see one party advocating for his prosecution for what happened there.
there was a "scheme" in place to breach guidelines, after undercover custom officers visited Berlin D2 the following month
Dublin’s Berlin D2 bar, which breached public health guidelines during a “boozy brunch” event in August last year, has effectively been shut down. A District Court judge has ruled against renewing any of the Dame Lane venue's four licenses. Judge Marie Quirke said the venue's conduct was "neglectful, irresponsible" & "disorderly." She said although there was a public apology after the brunch, there was a "scheme" in place to breach guidelines, after undercover custom officers visited Berlin D2 the following month. The judge said she had considered "all other alternatives" but found the necessary order to make was to refuse Trillium Leisure Ltd's application to renew all four of its licenses for Berlin D2, which includes a dance and public music and singing license.

Its probably the riskiest scenario right up there with house parties. Pubs have been too risky since this pandemic began. Takeaway cocktails being changed €11.50 a pop. This is what they do in this country they rob u blind whatever chance u get. Look at the hotel prices through the roof. I’m not going to any pub that tries to force food back my throat and if I have to give up a booking , I will. There’s a publican down here in Cork who has literally come out and said the day of going to pub and just ordering drinks is gone, it’s all about the food. Ya u can see where this is going, his pub will only take bookings where u have to order food. Well u know what he’ll be glad to welcome just the drinkers back in a few months.
