Probably rented by large international Legal/Accounting/MNC for visiting VPs and Staff as tax write off. Doubt you would get on rent allowance.

The setting is lovely but the interior makes it look very cold. And I mean physically cold. I can't imagine it would be very homely on a Winter's day.

That's the best thing about this thread. My land commission ****hole with gradual improvements and refurbishments over the years is definitely a palace compared to most of these gaffs.

I'm very sure that I know a previous owner of that house. A German, who I knew in Germany back in the 90's. Wealthy and a bit off the wall. He had a hexagonal house in Kerry somewhere, showed me the brochure and wanted me to manage it. It was to be run as a retreat/conference/whatever facility.

He was very clueless as to how life ran in Ireland in the early 90's and was ripped off left right and centre. His last throw of the dice was getting someone to live there and run it. I declined as the ideas were just mad for the times.

His girlfriend was utterly stunning, one of the best looking women I've ever met and a very decent woman.

I'm wondering if that's the house, I wonder if it is and what happened to him. I lost touch with him after I moved.

Sums up this thread perfectly.

A lot of money spent and yet not worth half it.

Very difficult to **** it up given the beauty of the location. A big lump of symmetry and shiny materials. Whoever is responsible should be embarassed.

No attempt made to integrate the house with the surroundings. Very much overlooking the landscape and not part of it.

I don't even want to imagine how bad the acoustics are, fairly cold too I'd imagine.

One quick story about him. He arrived in Ireland and wanted a top of the range RHD car to get around in, preferably an Audi V8. There were none available here, so he bought one in Germany and converted it from LHD to RHD, but kept it on German plates. He didn't want to pay VRT on a UK car. He used to have it driven to the UK to get it serviced as nobody here could do it.
