There isn't a lot of development selections in that Munster pack. It's not a great sign that Ryan and Archer are both in the 23 when Knox and Salanoa are available and desperate for minutes. A number of players who are leaving / most likely leaving are in the starting lineup.

Dan Goggin gets another start in the centre alongside our top three wingers in Daly, Conway and Earls to come off the bench. Casey starting at 9 with Murray getting a rest.

Absolutely. Either knocked on or accidental offside but the try couldn't stand either way.

It was an entertaining game for the neutral and the utter lack of any semblance of discipline on either side was hilarious.

Absolute dick comment from CJ about the ref too.

Still a different incident. The knock on called on the try was by DDA.

Not a great comment from CJ. He may be retiring but Munster still in action and will have same ref again at some point. He took over captaincy from POM it seems so you'd imagine Peter had similar outlook but was keeping it to himself.

Ref didn't help but Munster can only blame themselves... Lineout misfiring at crucial moments again, didn't protect the ball enough at times, didn't slow connacht ball, stupid penalties and brain fades, little offered in backline, and a couple of costly errors (stray pass from casey and restart that both led to tries).

That said we were still in with a chance right until the end.

Munster were playing against a really strong wind in the 1st half,

And then in the 2nd half comms seem to mentioned that the wind died down and there was a downpour.

Lineout is still malfunctioning at crucial times, We are still hit and miss at receiving restarts and still giving away daft penalties

JOD seemed too wound up last night, had a suspect clearout on halfway in the 2nd half and had that nonsense with Papali'i which caused O'Mahonys try to be overturned

The maul wasn't the weapon I'd hoped it would be and I'd say we had crazy possession and territory stats in the 2nd half but just couldn't find the scores

Scrum was well on top in the fist half, Was swapping out the Connacht props just before H/T and Connacht surviving that scrum the difference between winning and losing the game?

Most frustrating part is that a win last night would have given us a clear pathway to the final, Now not so sure

I don't think momentum was really the decisive factor given he was going to ground, it appears to go in a forward motion directly out of the hands.

Wootton potentially offside at the ruck but there's a grey area there as to whether the Munster player who goes over the top is part of the ruck. Wootton was certainly onside when the ruck was formed.

I wouldn't be too harsh on the referee for calling the pass forward. It certainly went significantly forward due to the speed of the move and momentum. The floated pass presented a bad picture, highlighting just how further down the pitch the ball was caught. In a passage being played at such pace, the referee is going to make a snap call on what he can see.

Watched the game back. JOD was very lucky. A few ruck entries about 10 min from the end, one looked like he definitely connected with the connacht locks head with his upper arm.

His reaction to Papaili freeing himself and getting back in the defensive line was awful. AP pushes him on the head and has no interest in getting involved.

Beirne also had Buckley I think in a headlock on 65 which was ignored.

Standers post match comments are bizarre. The wording to me suggests there is a prevailing thought in Munster camp that they feel the refs are out to get them. "I can say it now, I'm done"

In all three interpros Munster have played in the RC, there's been a lot of niggle and off the ball stuff. I think it worked to Munster's advantage in the win at the RDS.

I thought kilcoyne was at it too. Around 66 minutes seemed to attempt shoulder straight to head. Missed his target in another missile ruck entry earlier but Joy finally picked up on the elbow use later on (may have been the captain s challenge). Borderline. Wasn't sure if it was him or jod at the genge type elbows on the ground, same dodgy Barnet.

To hear CJ whinge about the ref after was a bit rich tho and disappointing from such a warrior. I thought it was reffed fairly from a neutrals perspective. A lot of niggles, could have been more stoppages.

He absolutely didn't dive for the ball. He went in knees first with no chance of winning the ball as per attached image. He then collided with Wootton. It was a penalty at worst but JOD had no hope of winning possession nor was there a genuine attempt to do so.

As I posted previously, I've never seen JOD so wound up for a match. He actually had a good game generally but his discipline was all over the place.

But he didn't stay on his feet. JOD caught his legs with his arm and he went down on an almost perfect horizontal. But Wooton was utterly nonplussed, just picked himself up and got on with it.
