Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Still listing new video games at much lower prices than other shops but not stocking much of them if any at all. Hopefully they will start to restock in a couple of weeks when reopening begins.

Buy elsewhere or wait until you can pick it up in store. Your grass will be 6ft high before it's delivered.

Anyone having trouble buying items for home delivery today? I used two different cards and got errors both times, now have pending transactions on those two accounts that'll take a week to free up again.

Their weights/fitness equipment is all out of stock for some reason. Anybody any idea why?

The pandemic surged demand for gym equipment over night , not just for Argos for any business selling that kind of equipment.

If you have a Particular item you want you can ask in store or ring and they may be able to give you an idea of a date of when it will come into stock.

Few items I wanted I asked a few weeks back and was told they had no dates yet

It's been a bit pandemicy for the past year or so, limited fitness stock in most places due to increased demand with people exercising at home and limited manufacturing due to the equipment not being manufactured during full lockdowns.

Some exercise stock in Argos comes and goes (15kg dumbbells were available earlier this week) but most fitness equipment hasn't been in stock for the last year.

    Yes, makes sense.

    Nope.

    Nope.

I've done this previously with a faulty TV. And I even purchased it online from Argos UK.
Now I did have everything organised before I went in, they only had to process the replacement and send the broken one back.

You got lucky. This question pops up a lot and pretty much every time someone says they tried it before and failed.

I got a kettle before and it arrived with a big dent in it. Contacted online support and they arranged for me to return to store

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,067 ✭✭✭✭fryup

well i phoned customer service and they said they'll arrange for a courier to collect it and i'll get a refund once they (argos) receive it...so happy days:)

the only question is...does it have to be spotless?

I would say if its change of mind then it will need to be in the original packaging and resalable, if faulty then I wouldn't think so.

Only spotted the post about the Samsung TV and soundbar.
No good to anyone now but they were honouring the deal, the cashier just zeroed the soundbar for me.

Not a bargain post but anyone know if the Jervis and Swords Dublin stores are permanently closing down soon? I notice on the website within both the store locator and reservation pages both these branches have (Closing soon) after the branch names, not seeing this on any others. I suppose they are relatively close to other major branches.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,211 ✭✭✭✭Suckit

They must be. That's a pity. I would have thought Swords was doing fairly well though, unless the rent and rates are high. Santry presumably a better option for them.

I guess the same with Jervis St and the other options close by.

2 of the 3 stores in limerick are closed/closing as well.

Looks like Argos are stripping back the number of products they are selling in Ireland. A few items (which I purchased recently) are no longer listed on the .ie web site (they are on the .co.uk).

Even potential big sellers like the Xbox Series S (product 844/8248) have been removed.

Tried to collect something from the Naas store the other day.

    Didn't have a wallet with me because... it's 2021.

Well, turns out they don't take NFC payments. So you need a physical card. Like some kind of animal.

Oh no - have the self service kiosks stopped taking contactless payments? I've used them many times for both contactless on my card and google pay on my phone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,945 ✭✭✭long_b

    Ah, that makes sense.

This was at the register. I was collecting a reservation that had gone up in price since it was reserved, so they had to do it at the till.

    My bad.

Am trying to order the new fire stick from Amazon . Uk won’t ship to Ireland , is there a work around for this ?

Keep getting this item won’t ship to your address

Still getting this item won’t ship to your address

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,211 ✭✭✭✭Suckit

Yeah, sorry, I had my German virtual address in when I checked it..

You could send it to mailboxde.com, but it would cost you an extra roughly €12 to ship. It should be the same for 2, 3, or 4, possibly more.

We needed a new hob and went from five ring down to four ring as the larger burners were towards the rear of the hob and had damaged the worktop upstand over the years when large pans/pots were used for long periods. So after having a good look online settled for this Smeg hob, but found it cheaper to buy from Spain.

We saved 70eur compared to DID/Curry’s etc and that was including post.

I'm trying to pay for something on Argos.co.uk site, for collection in a Northern Ireland store, using a UK bank card with a ROI address.

It won't process order even bank has authorised payment so guess it's on Argos.co.uk side.

Anybody have any idea is it possible?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,303 ✭✭✭✭muffler

I encountered similar to that a couple of times in the past but managed it in the end. Unfortunately I can't recall exactly what I did though. I know I ended up using my ROI bank card and used a friend's NI phone number.I

The UK site has (or had) a live chat option so they might be able to help.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,624 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

I've used Irish and English cards along with Paypal, all with a valid English mobile number but no luck so far.

Tried Live Chat but the guy wasn't sure, he said it might be the fact the address was in ROI.

I told him as it was for collection, the address would only be for credit card verification.

    Strange one all right.

I'm seeing more of this lately. Payments with a card issued from outside the jurisdiction being rejected. I have a feeling it's to do with PSD2 changes that were implement recently.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 9,953 ✭✭✭mik_da_man

The TOYS20 code.. can that only be applied in store at the till, I couldn't see a way to add it when reserving.

Similar issue to some of you with trying to order online.... I used a One4All voucher to pay.... then the process freezes and no email confirmation of order. I emailed them yesterday but no reply yet and the money has been deducted from my card already... Has anyone had a resolution from them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,933 ✭✭✭JDxtra

Argos don’t sell online in Ireland. You’d be taking a chance ordering via UK site.

    How is argos with returns/refunds?

Bought a Switch for kids for Xmas about 10 days ago. Still unopened obviously.

Saw Smyth's doing offer for console + a game for the same price as I paid for just the console in argos.
