Speaker for the dining room

Howdy folks,

I'm looking to get a speaker for the dining room - it would be the main speaker for listening to music. I have an Alexa Dot in the kitchen and find it very handy, so was looking at the Echo Studio.

Would this be a decent option? Or would I be better getting a similarly priced Bose/other brand speaker and connecting it to a dot for Alexa voice control? Budget is €150-200.

All help appreciated!

I recently picked up these off amazon because they have bluetooth and loads of inputs making them more flexible.
Using them in the kitchen on a shelf.
They dont have any smart features etc but for the money they are excellent if you can get over not having a main stream brand.
Also you dont get sucked into an ecosytem !

Its easy to connect and excellent sound , plus small size

Yeah I've been reading up on it. Am I correct in saying that a guest would be able to play music to the speaker from, say Spotify, once they connected to the WiFi and wouldn't need to download any specialist apps?

Yes, you can cast from Spotify to the Sonos once you’re on the network. It really is a great speaker. I have 2 different Sonos speakers...so far. The only other I’d consider would be Bose

Have a listen to an LG PK7 if you can. I had a listen to one and was pretty impressed with it.

I've heard the sonos and they are good but call me old fashioned and give me two separate speakers!
I do have a jbl flip 5 I use around the garden and its a cracker for 100e.

Will do! One question - with these 360 degrees speaker do you risk annoying your neighbours by projecting sound directly into a wall? Mine will be on a shelf up against a wall for example.

Yeah of you pair them you’ll have stereo speakers. If you have an iPhone you can configure the speaker by waking the phone around the room like a loon

I wouldn’t worry about the neighbours. I have the Beam for the TV and I’m thinking about getting 2 ones for surround sound
