Today being Paddy Day 2020... when do you think we will have a ‘flu jab’ / pill / syrup that we can take to make us immune/ les likely to catch this 19 virus?.

Mod: The purpose of this thread is baked into the title - COVID-19: Vaccine/antidote and testing procedures - it's not a platform to push an anti vaccination agenda. No it will actually be based on measurements of vaccinated people. If the immunity levels of people are proven to remain high over time then subsequent doses will not be required. You seem to think they will be flogging this like a Sky sport subscription or something.

You’d think with the announcement of this first western vaccine, he’d be all over it, talking about the funding his Foundation puts into vaccine research, GAVI, this BioNTech company connection (which I didn’t know about myself)

It’s almost like he’s been told to STFU.

surely you couldn't distribute this by GP?

I would have assumed they would need to set up vaccination centres - and then you go to your local(ish) one on some specified day, queue and get your jab.

Go by electoral region and surname for sorting/planning.

They can hardly be blamed for a pandemic and adding a profit to a product is business and neither illegal nor immoral. I believe vaccines account for under 5% of annual pharma sales. Here's an article from 2015 on it.

He had to disable all replies and comments across all social media platforms as well due to the overwhelming negative response. He's a primary funder of the UN and WHO. The approved vaccine was always going to be one of his.

They're now saying other candidates are in later phase testing and will support the Pfizer/BioNTech roll-out. They'll be the likes of AstraZeneca and Moderna, which he has funded as well. So predictable

It wont be distributed by GPs. The gp wouldn't have facilities. This vaccine needs to be stored at -80 degrees.

There will probably be large scale vaccination centres set up. Providing that type of fridge to every gp would be too expensive.

Yeah GPs won't be doing it I wouldn't think.

My guess looking at other countries would be that we turn some of the testing centres into vaccination centres with the help of the defence forces logistical corps.

Pfizer have already stated they'll look after everything up to point of entry to the country, after that your going to need assistance from the likes of the defence forces.

Why on earth would people taking any medication or vaccine be expected to understand it's pharmacology? If you showed people a molecular diagram of paracetemol 99% of them would glaze over, never mind understanding metabolic pathways and everything else.

Tbh, in time, I’d love to be shown the full manufacturing process and ingredients used in this vaccine, why those particular ingredients are used, their actual effect on the immune system etc. Layman’s terms. No corporate fluff. No, ‘it’s a vaccine. What’s not to like? Just take it’ stuff.

If any of you proponents come across such, I’d be happy to take the time to read it.
